Wow!!! So good!! I've gotten food from here twice so far - both times for pick-up, and both times drunken noodles (I can't help myself). The portions are huge for what you pay! One order lasts me three big meals. And it's SO GOOD. I get my drunken noodles at a 5 spice level, and that had my nose running. I loved it. There are so many vegetables in it - when I've gotten it at Lazy Leopard, it has a couple, but not nearly as much as these. The second time I ordered here, I got it without mushrooms (not a fan). My boyfriend ordered basil thai rice (spice level 1 or 2) and I had some of it, and it was really good! The second time he ordered pad thai. You can expect to spend between $7 and $9 for a lunch size portion, which is filling. Second, heat factor and extras. Their heat levels can meet or exceed desired taste buds for all. They also have other flavor sauces and brown rice. Third, the place is smaller, but has a cultural feel and friendly customer service. If anything could be promoted as negative is the fact that more people now know about my little secret. So now it's possible to wait a bit, while call in and seated customers are being taken care of. Friendly Thai was my first introduction to thai food and it is where I have tried so many fabulous thai dishes. My favorites are the pumpkin, mango, red and green curry dishes and everyone's favorite pad thai. The spicy level ranges between 0 and 10 with 10 being the hottest. I would recommend a 0 for anyone who does not like spicy food. I have had dishes here where a 5 is hotter than a 10. We have eaten at all the Thai places in this area.....Friendly Thai is the best!!! We get take out nearly every week, and the portion sizes are good too! I can't believe the person who said the Pad Thai was not good....this is the BEST Phad Thai in the area!! My only "negative" comment is that the place is very small. This is one reason why we get Take out, instead of dining in. Wish they would open Friendly Thai #2, in a larger building. I ordered delivery and was told it would take about thirty minutes. I'm about maybe about two miles down the road yet it still took them over 1 hour to finally get my food to me. By then the food was already cold which didn't help the already disappointing flavor. I ordered the spicy basil noodles and spicy eggplant with chicken. I can handle spicy food very well and when asked on a scale from 1-5 how spicy I wanted the food I said a moderate 3. The food was overdosed with chili flakes which made the food almost inedible. Thai food is my favourite type of cuisine and I always find myself going back to Friendly Thai. I ordered an appetizer once and was disappointed so I just don't order appetizers there anymore, and anyone I bring to eat there who orders an appetizer seems consistently disappointed as well. If you're the type of person who likes to order a bunch of apps or get a full course meal, this probably isn't the place for you. I've never ordered anything other than curry for a main dish, it just can't be beaten. They used to make it really spicy like I always ask for, but the past couple of times I've gone I've been really disappointed in the level of heat a 5 out of 5 apparently is. Regardless, the flavour is always on point. I usually get the red curry (as a picky eater I hate asking servers to omit certain things from dishes, but the red curry is great because I like everything in it) and my boyfriend usually gets the green curry. The interior of Friendly Thai is rather dark if you're eating there at night. It's also sort of drafty, so if you tend to be cold be sure to bring your jacket with you (a couple sat down next to us yesterday but moved after a little while because they were cold). The seating is a little packed and the chairs are rather dainty (I set my purse down on one and the whole chair flipped backwards and fell to the ground). Honestly, the ambiance is nothing to write home about. The service is good. I'm not sure if they only have one server, but I'm pretty sure we're always served by the same girl who's really nice, very helpful, and is always checking to make sure you have everything you need. They're also really good about splitting a check however you want, which is nice if you tend to go with a disorganized lot of people like I do. The prices are very reasonable, too. read more

I visited this restaurant for the first time on January 30th. The food was pretty good, however, the service was lacking. We ordered our dumpling appetizer, it came to the table in a timely fashion. I tried one and it was fairly good, but when I went to eat a second one I found an inch and a half long black hair in the dough. I pulled the hair out and left it on the plate. I put the plate and my fork on the edge of the table. What seemed like forever later the waitress came over with our entrée. I told her I found a hair in the food. She didn't even offer to have a new order made. She took the plate and my fork and said she'd return with a clean fork. A bit later my boyfriend is eating his food and I'm still sitting waiting for a fork to eat. I end up having to take a setting off another table so that I could eat before it got cold. We finish our meal and asked for the check. She didn't remember at all that she hadn't brought utensils and then to top it off we were charged for the food with hair in it. I am a chef in a busy restaurant, if a customer complains about hair in their food it is automatically comped, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I can say I will never step food in this place again. I know that accidents happen, but find a way to try to make it better in order to maintain repeat customers. read more

This place may have good food but their customer service needs a lot of work. I work for a business near by that this restaurant delivers to every day. Our company gives them a TON of business. Yet, they still charge a $15 minimum for all delivery orders (lunch and dinner). Recently, I tried to place a lunch order after a group in my department already placed an order a few minutes before.. I don't work in the group but overheard them ordering and Thai sounded good. My order comes to a maximum of $9 including a tip. If you have ever looked at the menu, lunch orders are smaller portions and cost less. Yet they still push the $15 minimum for a delivery order. I have never had to meet a minimum in the past but this time the person who was taking my order told me I had to. I told him that a group within my department ordered food right before I called and asked if he was still going to make me pay the $15 minimum. He said "absolutely". I am all about making money but not at the expense of good customer service. Like I said, the company I work for gives them a lot of business and I know other restaurants in the area who wave their delivery order minimums for this company. If anything, the $15 minimum for delivery should not be applied to lunch or at least be reduced to reflect the reduced prices. Who orders $15 worth of food for lunch!? I know I am only one person but they just lost a customer. I have had other issues with this restaurant's customer service that I have let slide but this is the straw that broke the camel's back. Incredible flavors and beautiful little setting. Only a few tables and carryout service, which seems to stay busy. We ordered spring rolls, pad thai, and panang curry. All were fresh tasting and the heat on the curry was perfect. It's a small operation so there is some waiting but hearing and smelling your food being prepared behind a curtain 10 feet away made it worth it, especially when it tasted as good as it did. My picky teen says they have the best chicken pad thai she's ever had and we eat Thai about twice a month, more if I could afford the dining out! Noticed some reviews complaining about service, decor, or communication. In all fairness, this is a little restaurant in a former home that appears to be a traditional family business. The decor is exactly what I'd expect in a Thai restaurant (30 year Thai food eater) and the staff is small but so nice and accommodating. Ask questions before ordering and I doubt you'll be disappointed. Chill and enjoy the slower pace of life and the great food. read more

Have been here a few times and I've enjoyed every dish. Lunch portions are a great value, but inconsistent in size at each visit unfortunately. Ingredients are fresh, seasoning is very good, and although I believe the base for each dish is from the same stock, the flavors are distinct and above average, The Thai Basil is a favorite, the Eggplant dishes are done well, the Pad Prik King is a nice option. Fried Rice is flavorful and the Sticky Rice and Brown Rice are also nice options. Service is VERY good, very eager to do a good job. Definitely a nice place to visit. Their food is so good and not heavily breaded or processed. The chicken is always light and fresh with no heavy coatings. The option of white or brown rice (my favorite) is there and the staff is willing to accommodate any special requests. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The service is subpar at best and so is the food. Don't get the calamari appetizer, it came out of a bag with italian flavor rather than freshly sliced and seasoned. The Pad Thai was decent. The place wasn't busy and they never came to refill our beverages. Also, we had to ask for the spices several times before it was brought out. The last straw was when the soup was brought out after the entree. As we were paying, another customer had walked out with another customers food. The person that left, came back minutes later. The owner just handed the bag to the customer who was waiting (food being remade since his order was given to another person). Thank goodness the person waiting said I don't want that. How unsanitary...to think its okay to pass the food from one customer to another. The owner brought the returned item to the kitchen. I'm hoping he didn't repack and give to the man waiting.
