I have been a patient of Dr. Frieman's for 25 years. He is an excellent doctor and I am very satisfied with the care I receive.

Dr Friedberg was able to see me immediately and do surgery in two days…read more Office staff is amazing too.

I had visited this doctor on referral from my opthomologist due to what he said was diabetic…read moreretinopathy based on the high tech scans. He told me that most likely Dr.Friedberg would laser it or inject medicine to help the burry vision in my right eye. Dr.Friedberg dismissed this diagnosis and said that I had a torn retina. He said I had two options. One was laser that would improve my vision but would not give me full range of vision. The second was surgery at Riverview that would be 95 percent improved. Obviously, I chose surgery. His scheduler set it up for two days later and told me I needed to rent a special chair for the weeks following because the bubble put in eye requires looking down for over a week. Surgery was unusual and he was nasty to the assisting nurses. I also sensed a problem when apparently they did not have enough probes on site. He used what they had and continued. After the surgery I told him that I was prepared with the chair and he said his technique did not require it. $250 to rent this based on his staff's instruction. After the two months healing period I had worse vision than before. He then said I needed injections once a month for four months and that should solve the issue. At that point he also said that he did see the swelling that I originally came to him. Insisted it had nothing to do with retinopathy. After the fourth injection showed no improvement he basically told me that there was nothing else that he could do and I should consider this eye as a "spare tire". What? Follow up with my ophthalmologist was not promising and after I told him what happened, he said we have to wait and see how the eye progresses but the cataract in the same eye may not be able to be fixed with surgery without risk due to the retina surgery which weakens the eye. I feel he botched the surgery and then dismissed me knowing that he screwed up. I would strongly not recommend this guy. As others have stated, his office is old with old equipment.

First, I thought everyone who I came in contact with in Red Bank was excellent and personable…read more Their customer service in store was outstanding. Now.... the BILLING DEPT is the WORST I have ever seen. I have a $30 co-pay for a vision exam, but in store, she told me billing said I had a $50 co-pay. I let her know it was $30, but paid the $50 anyway figuring they will know they made a mistake later. When I received the 1st bill of $95, she stated they applied my $50 copay to the contact lens exam which isn't even noted on the bill. I called and stated my insurance pays for the whole exam including contact lens except the $30 copay. After she argued with me, she said she would call the insurance company, never got a call back. I thought it was handled, then got another bill and called, never received call back. Now 3 months later, I still owe them $80 even though I over paid my copay. They billed an eye exam under medical so I would pay $50 then a determine refractive state under patient eye exam for $30 copay. Looking at my insurance statement, my insurance paid everything but 2 separate copays that were charged incorrectly. I already paid $50, and they want to still charge me $80?.... run far away unless they getting a new billing department. I have left 3 messages and never received a call back!!!!

The doctors were very helpful and professional. On the other hand, the secretary and the nurses…read morewere horrible. Very rude and very unprofessional. They ruined the experience and would not suggest going here unless they changed everyone besides the doctors.
