Stopped in to order the suicide by chocolate cake for a work party and decided to grab a bite to eat. I got a panini breakfast sandwich. For close to $8 it wasn't worth it. I got two huge pieces of bread with a tiny piece of sausage, egg and cheese. I've tried other items for lunch in the past and have never been impressed so I should have known better then to get something. On the other hand the bakery items are phenomenal. Fresh baked and never disappointed. If you need a bakery item this is your place but the cafe items are overpriced and don't have the same standard as the baked goods. They also have speciality baked items to celebrate holidays and religious days that are hard to find elsewhere. read more

I want to preface this review by saying that I absolutely wanted to love this place. As soon as I saw the sign, I knew that I needed to try it out and sought it out for a lunch opportunity. I also want to mention that I solely had lunch here without trying any of the great looking dessert options that abound. My wife and I both ordered sandwiches, which consisted of the Chicken Salad Sandwich and the Steak and Portabella Mushroom Panini. While they were good, they were not outstanding, which actually surprised me. The way the desserts and food looked, I expected more, I guess. The setting itself is great, easy to access and clean. The dessert cases are loaded with fantastic looking choices as are the donut racks. Maybe I chose poorly this day. I would guess there are better options here than what I picked, but for this day, it left me a bit unsatisfied. If I come back, the next time, I will focus on some of their sweet treats, as opposed to the meat and potato type fare. read more

We drove from Odessa just for the King Cakes. I bought two, the cheese and the cherry, as my family would be hosting a celebration of life for my grandmother on Fat Tuesday. The King Cakes were enjoyed by all, everyone asked where they were from. The oldest and the youngest were the ones who found the babies. read more

Unbelievable. Felt lucky to find a local place that made king cakes. Placed and paid for order online to pick one up tomorrow. Requested cheese filling and asked them to not put so much colored sugar on it. Specifically, I said in the instructions box, " Cheese please. The white glaze amount is perfect. The colored sugar, as pictured, is way too much for me. Use only about 20% of what you typically put on, lightly sprinkled. Please and thanks!" A few minutes later, my phone rings and a woman tells me she spoke with TWO baker's there and they said they can't put ONLY a small amount of colored sugar on. So either they don't make these cakes in house, or they are they are simply incapable of NOT crusting it with colored sugar. It is literally, the final step before boxing it. Came to Frida's for the first time today. I live close by it but just have never stopped in and I've been missing out! They have so many options from cakes, cupcakes, pastries, breads, cookies, doughnuts from single serving to take home family sizes. They also have dining area to dine in for breakfast or lunch but I just came for dessert. Their prices are amazing and they give you large serving pieces for an average of $3-$4 each. I bought 3 different large desserts including pumpkin slice, death by chocolate, and raspberry cheesecake and they were amazing! My favorite was the death by chocolate. The staff and customer service was awesome! I had questions about many of the items and they were very informative as to what ingredients were in it and all of their products. It's going to be one of my new go to spots for desserts! read more

Frida's Bakery deserves 5 stars, but my dine-in experience was far from satisfactory. I wanted to give this place a better rating, especially with a recommendation from my friend, but I just did not like my food or the service there. My boyfriend and I went to Frida's for a late breakfast before a day full of errands. The cafe was packed, with people standing everywhere. We stood where the line of registers are, only to be ignored by the one person manning 3-4 different registers. The girl saw me, walked away, and started taking an order on the bakery side. There are a lot of workers behind the counter, but there isn't any system that keeps ordering organized. I waited about 10 minutes before a different cashier came to the register. She handed me a number and I went to a table. After a few minutes, my boyfriend saw people getting their food from the other end of the counter, and he returned with our order. No number call-out and no one comes around to serve your food. I ordered a Cranberry Turkey Sandwich. It's served on whole grain cranberry nut bread, with cranberry aioli sauce & Provolone cheese. The turkey meat is very dry and it barely had any sauce. On top of someone hard bread, it's grilled to antagonize your gums even more. My boyfriend did enjoy his Steak & Cheese Panini. It has homemade Roasted Angus Beef, Onions, Roasted Peppers, Provolone Cheese and Chipotle Mayo. He said that he would return and eat there again, especially since Frida's is near his work. Both sandwiches came with a square bread. I thought it was corn bread, but it's not. It was a strange coconut/nutmeg/cinnamon-something type of dessert? I was not a fan. To top off a disappointing visit, the overall cleanliness of the restaurant was alarming to me. It was hard to find a table to sit because most were not clean. The floors were sticky, and the bathrooms were not kept. There are 2 single stalls, and the one I went into was so gross. Luckily there is a sink outside where you can wash your hands and go. I would come back and try their baked goods and desserts. I wish I had a better dining experience, but I wouldn't bother again because it's so far out of my way. read more

I was visiting family in Florida and my brother and sister-in-law took me to this cute little place. It's been around for 17 years! They have parking on site. You order your food at one counter and your baked goods at the other. They have so many options so it can seem overwhelming, but there were a lot of choices that sounded great so it was nice to have options. They had items for meat lovers or vegetarians. I chose the breakfast Cuban sandwich! It didn't take but 10 minutes if that to come out and we had ordered with a few people ahead of us. It was delicious. The bread was nice and it wasn't too heavy with mustard. I could taste the pickle and the meat. It's a win for me! My family ate their meals and liked them as well! The breakfast items came with a small piece of coconut bread!! Yummy!! It's not very loud in there, which I appreciate so I could talk to my family. After we finished eating, we went to the bakery counter to pick out pastry goods. I chose the coconut cake because well I love coconut! They had so many options and look at the massive cinnamon rolls!!! Their big cakes looked really good and they have some unique sounding flavors for this pastry no knowledge person! Dropped by here as lots of people keep suggesting it. I finally got a day off and was able to drop by with my wife. We decided to order pastries as the breakfast stuff wasn't drawing us in. I got a cherry turnover and a chocolate chip cookie, and my wife got an apple strudel. While standing in the dinning area I was thinking that this place would be just like any other local spot...when I started to eat my food...AWESOME!! The pastries tasted great, you could tell they were fresh and made with organic ingredients. I also got a blended Mocha that was...meh. The atmosphere at the dinning area was very casual but it didn make me want to stay. The service was good, no complaints. I've been a regular customer at Frida's for the last 12 years. On three separate visits I've watched the man with the peaky blinders haircut and tattoo on his leg who usually makes the sandwiches/preps the little condiments containers full on rub his nose from wrist to thumb on both hands at the same time, proceed to not wash his hands and then put on gloves to continue making mine and others sandwiches. While he has the gloves on he's still wiping his nose on his forearm down to the glove. He then took off the gloves, still didn't wash his hands and handed me my food with his snot all over it. On another occasion, I watched him, with gloves on, touch the door that leads outside, push in all the chairs outside, come inside and push in all the chairs then proceeded to go make food without changing the gloves he just touched all the door handles and chairs with. Is it on purpose or severe incompetence? I'm sure it's on your cameras if you need to see it for yourself. I've worked in food service myself and have been a CNA, the amount of contamination I witnessed has halted all my desires of continuing to eat from this establishment which makes me sad because I did love this place, but I can't stomach his boogers all over my food that I'm paying money for. He makes a mean sandwich, but he 1000% needs to be retrained on handwashing and food contamination for the safety of your paying customers and your business. read more

It may take a few minutes for you to get something however, it is 110% worth that wait! They make everything themselves, and every single thing that they sell is absolutely amazing every single time! On my first visit to Frida's I did take out. During these days of COVID I'm still not comfortable eating in restaurants but I did note that on a Friday afternoon there was plenty of room to stay at least 6 feet away from anyone else in the restaurant. They also have several areas to accommodate outside dining. Only one area is covered so on particularly hot Florida days or rainy days, outside seating would be limited. All of the employees except one had on a mask. The kitchen is open and you can see your food being made which I really like. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. I placed my order at the counter and got a cup of rose tea while I waited. This was one thing I think they could improve on. I could only find a telephone # to place an order before arrival. I do think in today's society especially with the increase in to go orders that investing in online ordering and payment would be very smart. While waiting on my sandwiches, I got a couple of individual desserts and a small loaf of the coconut bread to go as well. All of the desserts looked amazing and the selection was wonderful. My only disappointment was that they were out of brownies. Next time! I settled an a fruit tart cake and a peanut butter fluff/mousse drizzled with chocolate. My favorite of all of these was the latter but I'm partial to peanut butter and chocolate. Each individual dessert was in the $4 range. I ordered the Cranberry Turkey Panini which consists of turkey, provolone cheeses, cranberry aioli on cranberry not bread. It was very good but they put a lot of aioli so if you don't want a lot, you should specify. I usually prefer less but the aioli was especially good and the highlight of the sandwich, so I was not bothered by it in this case. The sandwich comes with a side of chips and a square of their coconut bread. The coconut bread is very moist and while it was too sweet for me, my companion loved it. My boyfriend got the Grilled Cheese de Boeuf which is Mozzarella Cheese, Sliced Angus Roast Beef, Tomatoes & Fresh Basil on French Bread then oanini grilled. This was my favorite of the 2 sandwiches. The fresh basil always wins me over. Both sandwiches were in the $8 range. Frida's has a ton of choices and I hope to try breakfast there at some point. Breakfast is only served until 11am. They have a large coffee and tea selection and also sell bagels out of the bakery. The atmosphere was really great and I would definitely try them again and explore a few more of their sandwich and dessert options. read more

This is the greatest bakery ever! I first discovered it when someone sent us one of their amazing tres leches cakes for a work event and I fell in love. We've tried so many different desserts from their case and let me tell you, it just gets harder and harder to choose what to order next! The good news is that you can't really go wrong! On this last visit over the weekend, we stopped for lunch and tried two paninis. Be sure to read the paper menu, because that's where they list out all of the unique options. We tried the cuban and steak, mushroom and cheese; both were delicious. The star of the show is really their freshly baked, crispy bread. They have free cucumber water near the soda machines and you can also order from their selection of freshly brewed iced teas. I had high hope for this place when my family recommended me there. Just happened to be in Largo the other day and had a chance to go in before they close at 7pm. They are bigger than your typical neighborhood bakery, has seating and warm food (sandwiches and soups). I had some bakery stuff (which there're still a lot to sell which probably means they don't make everything every day). Pretty good! I got mini German chocolate cakes and the Oreo brownie ball for my boyfriends birthday. Incredible value at only 20$ for all 4 treats. The first night we had these, we tried the German chocolate cake which we both thought was incredibly dry- very odd for a GCK. The next day we ate another and it was better- we think the cake needed time to soak up the moisture from the coconut. The saving grace was the Oreo ball- I would return for this alone. It was outstanding - crunchy exterior, crumbled Oreo edged filled with delicate Oreo cream. In the center there was a moist brownie center. It was outstanding. Will be back! Probably won't buy the mini cakes again- but I'd love to try more menu items. read more

Pastry lover's paradise!!! I couldn't believe the variety to choose from. Everything looked great! We decided to go for "single" servings pastry because we want to try as much as we can. My husband chose a variety of chocolate cakes and he loved all of them. I had the coconut cake, the lemon cake, and a slice of pumpkin roll. All delicious!!! We had a high recommendation to go to Frida's Bakery. We were told that Frida's made great Cuban Sandwiches. Well we went in to the order area. It was a Sunday late afternoon, not very busy. There was not anyone in line and two employees were standing at the two registers. We stood there, one did not look up, the other stood there just looking at us. I asked if this is where we order, he answered "yes" and just stood there looking at us. So I asked him to take our order he did and then we asked for it to go. I paid for the order, the young man gave us a number and we went to look at their nice patio dining area and then he told we could not go out there. I could not hear him, asked him again, and a woman further behind the counter in the prep area told us in no uncertain terms, "Go sit over there by the window and wait until we call you. Well, finally the called our number and gave us two boxes with the Cuban Sandwiches. A to go order with out a bag. I got someones attention and requested a to go bag. They put the two boxes in the plastic bag on their sides. We left. End of story, the contents of the sandwiches were just throw together between the bread. We had better from lesser places. I used to love this place. Unfortunately they changed the menu and no longer have some of my favorite breakfast items. Today I ordered a sausage breakfast sandwich not knowing there was more then one on the menu. Then after paying, the cashier approached me that I needed to pay an extra 5.00 for GF bread. I completely understand the extra charge for GF, I encounter it all the time. However what I've never encountered is a cashier telling me she rang it in wrong and I needed to come in and pay extra money. Then when I got my Sandwich it was unfortunately not the one I wanted, since there was more than one sausage sandwich on the menu and the cashier didn't clarify. So I have been here multiple times over the years to pick up from the bakery. Every time has been fantastic. I was always curious about the sandwiches and vowed to return for lunch one day. Today was that day. I stopped in at lunch time and ordered the Rueben sandwich on Rye. It was pressed panini style. It was a very delicious sandwich. I made the mistake of sitting near the bakery counter and all of those delicious goodies were staring at me. Then the little devil appeared on my shoulder and told me to get the eclair. I was waiting for the little angel to appear and talk me out of it but the angel appeared and said yea go for the eclair. So at this point there was no turning back. I got the eclair for me and grabbed a few things for my kids (not pictured). Overall, everything was great and I was full. I had to get out and exercise after that filling meal. Also this is a walk up to the counter and order restaurant. They give you a number and your food is brought out to you. Stopped in for a cake this morning which I was out of luck. So I decided to have breakfast here. So I ordered there egg and chipotle platter with eggs Sunny side up, sausage, potatoes and bread with butter and cherry preserve. This is what I got below. I tried bringing them up and requested new eggs since these were overly cooked and NOT Sunny side up. The nice lady told me it's cooked by a machine. Atleast the Coconut coffee was pretty good. Waste of $9.99. They should take the butter out of the fridge as well. Instead of getting butter for your bread that you can barely take out of the 2oz cup with a knife since it's still too hard. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Leaving this review for my sister because she told me the story and I'm upset for her. Her family frequents Frida's often and my nephew eats the ham, egg & cheese panini. When my sister ordered, the cashier only heard her order egg & cheese panini so that is what she got (missing the ham). When brought to the cashier's attention, she was very apologetic and went to the kitchen to ask for ham (best part of the sandwich according to my nephew). Apparently, kitchen staff will not just give her what was missing from her original order (ham) and she will have to order and pay for another whole sandwich, just for the ham. So Nephew sat crying while eating his egg & cheese panini. Unreasonable to ask a customer to order a whole sandwich, just for a piece of ham because of miscommunication. This cafe ROYALLY messed up. If you have dietary restrictions, don't visit this cafe. I ordered a Portobello Panini. Should just be mushrooms, vegetables and cheese. NOPE. THEY ADDED ROAST BEEF AND I AM A VEGETARIAN. The manager couldn't help the situation or give an explanation besides they are busy. But they are always busy at lunch. I spoke with the owner and he just says they hire who ever applies and just get who ever off the street. I was told there were new people working. Still not okay and didn't get a resolution besides I can come back to get the correct sandwich and a desert... uh well you messed up my lunch break at work, I'll likely be sick cause I haven't ate meat in some time, and you can't get the food to me to resolve my sandwich now. Not okay. I never leave reviews but I have to. After speaker to the Owner, I told him I will leave reviews and he proceeds to threaten to not give me a sandwich if I do. Fine.
