I soon as I did this I began imaging how I was going to cover my bald head or perhaps that I should try and call my GP to try and get a free wig off the NHS. Either way my trembling fragile mop sat staring at me in the mirror all delicate and resting on my head, so unsuspecting of what was to come. Turns out they don't let just about anybody off the street do it, the students are all well practised and some just at the turning point where the cut would of cost you £50. My hair was very pleased and I've been somewhat of a regular since. Once there was too many students and I ended up getting my haircut by a teacher, so essentially got a hundred pound haircut. My hair was over the moon that time. Yours might be too?

My friend went in for a hair cut here and came out looking so great! It looked worth 50-60 pounds and she merely paid a £15! Maybe she thought she would do a runner or she needed a heavy to make sure her bottle blond did not go green but I went willingly after she promised me a glass of wine in return. This is a stark, white, exceptionally clean salon with young, bright and vibrant staff. Adrian worked his magic on Jenny's tresses and she was delighted with the results. As we all know, a virgin visit to an unfamiliar hairdressers can be quite daunting and you usually leave somewhat disappointed with the results, but Jen was gowned then groomed professionally and comfortably without any delay. The salon was quite full but she did not feel rushed and there were four stylists performing quietly and efficiently. This is a spacious place, there is no possiblity of feeling cramped or able to overhear the mundane conversation from the perm next door. As it was Jen's first visit, she received 50% off her colour treatment and she left feeling and looking like a movie star. Move over Marilyn, there is a new blond in town.

All in all, it's a nice airy space which puts you at ease. I've had my hair cut here twice before deciding that it was just too expensive, after all I am a boy and I do know, as my dad keeps telling me, that I can get my hair cut for 8 quid at his barbers, instead of paying £25 upwards here. Saying that, my friend had her hair dyed here and could not stop raving about the gorgeous brown bonce she ended up with thanks to Claire. Which, did actually look pretty hot and above all natural. So perhaps if your a girl reading this, and willing to fork out the cash, it may be worth a visit as I don't actully have anything bad to say about here apart from I can't afford it!

I'd recommend it and have been back twice, they were very flexible fitting me in on a busy Saturday when I was going for an interview. And as you may be aware from my former Mufti review, I badgered a friend of mine into visiting them. I booked myself an appointment for Saturday with very high expectations, and they were met gallantly. Mufti is cool, there's no denying it. It's in the Northern Quarter for starters, it's run by guys, the music is unbelievably mellow and lovely and it's simple, clean and relaxing. They had me at the film magazines by the sofa. You might not be able to pick a hairdo from them but you can read through which films should have been TV shows. Agreed, journalists! Empire Records should SO have been a series, as should Watchmen. Ahem, where was I. Not that I'm leaving Salvation (http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/salvation-hair-ltd-salford#hrid:iRY12h4CSS4gugZ1e-S2Pg), it just feels a little weird to walk in there without Alex, but I was more than intrigued to see what Mufti could do with my stupid hair type. Over the years I've tried and failed to make it more manageable, the only thing that really worked for me was a pixie cut. Now I've ill-advisedly grown it long again and its natural wave and supposed 'thinness but lots of it' have got the better of me. Hair, meet Karl, a genius, a lovely guy who washed my hair himself without getting some floor sweeper to do it and asked me questions about my hair routine throughout. I think he could tell from the clobber that I'm something of a vintage junkie, and my resulting style reflected that. A snip, a tweak, some conversations about Alex (he knew him very vaguely), advice on hair products and a confirmation that my hair is indeed thick (take THAT, Headmasters) and that short layers are fooling me into thinking my hair's manageable later, I looked in the mirror and was greeted with a silky head of waves worthy of a 40s movie star. I'm a convert.

SuperCuts is one of those companies, which surprises me with its' level of success, being a barber…read moreshop which has gone international, it has over 2,000 stores in the US alone. I always have found Supercuts to be a little expensive, charging £14.95 for a dry cut but for a city center, it is reasonable, especially considering my local barber at Kim-Creative was out, and she normally charges that anyway. The woman who served me was quite quick, and got me seated straight away. I told her about my past luck with barbers and she told me to let her know if she caught me, which was kind, and she also tried to have it as quick as possible, while also trying to make it "still look good" It is quite a nice salon in general, but is near enough the typical Supercuts layout. This SuperCuts is in a good location in the Manchester Arndale, and can be found on the top floor fairly close to Currys PC World and The Food Court. She got my haircut done quickly, and she done a good job of it too, for me to actually get numerous compliments, she tried her best not to "catch" me with the blades, as they normally seem to do, although she did catch me a few times. She also didn't soak my head in water, like the flooding of The River Thames, as I've had before which also shown that she was actually qualified. This was my first time in SuperCuts, and I was very pleased so I'm happy to award 3 stars, which is right on the brink of a 4 star review, which will be awarded if my 2nd visit maintains this standard, and I don't suffer from "2nd visit blues" as I have had at Jack Edward in Middleton, Mad Luck in Rochdale and various other barbers, so I do want to make sure a 4 star rating is deserved first. UPDATE: Due to huge inconsistencies in service from different members of staff, which could include treatments such as shaves to sometimes be denied or accepted and priced anywhere between £3.95 and £5.95, while also considering this and the quality of the finished cut and the service from certain staff members, it's hard to even know what you're getting from Supercuts anymore, and that's if you ever do get it, and the price you're getting it for, so sadly this has become much poorer recently and warrants a single one-star rating, I'm sorry to report. Being unable to make appointments and the fact you have to sit in for wait, where even one could be expected to wait an hour for a treatment expected to last 1/10 of that time is ridiculously stupid.

When I first came here I was continiously insulted by the hair dresser how horrible my hair was , and how it needed cutting from waist length to below my shoulders...and when he finished he curled it so i couldnt see the end result. Since then I have brought my partner in (who has long hair) and was treated so lovely, and they did a great job. I came in again and got served by the lady...wow what a lovely difference. This time she kept complimenting my hair and knew exactly what I wanted. She knew I was trying to keep it long so she skillfully layered my hair so the snapped ends were removed. I felt completely relaxed and trusted her which is rare in my case. She also showed me the back ,recommended products and styled my hair beautifully..just a shame it was raining outside! The prices start at £14 for a dry cut, £20 for a cut and wash and anything up to £38 for a cut , wash and blow dry. I just go in for a dry cut, there is no booking system so I recommend you go before 5pm as a lot of people use it when they finish work.

A very affable personality, and on the plus side pretty cute to boot, he clearly wants to provide the ultimate 'total' experience in hairdressing. He does a good job at suceeding. When you walk into the salon, you almost feel like you're walking into a lounge bar - there's great music playing, the staff are dressed in their best rags, you're asked if you'd like a drink. I found my stylist to be very attentive. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted so she was there to give advice and show me colour options, but she also allowed me to take my time. After I plumped for lowlight and cut, I had a wonderful wash and massage, almost falling asleep! The cut and colour took around 2 and a half hours altogether (I have a lot of hair) and I was ecstatic with the overall look. It's one of the best haircuts I've had (but that being said, I only go to the hairdresser once in a blue moon). The whole experience was worth the £70 total, the look lasted months.
