I've been flying out of Visalia for 30 years, with most of that time spent as a private pilot. Over…read morethat time, I have seen other schools come and go. I have to say that Visalia Flyers is by far the best option that has ever been available at the Visalia airport. The owner is an A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) Mechanic and he keeps the aircraft impeccably maintained. This is a huge deal! Airplane maintenance is expensive and I have flown some very sketchy planes where the owners tried to stretch things as far as possible and as a result, have experienced numerous in-flight issues. But so far, I have never had a problem with a Visalia Flyers airplane, and I have flown hundreds of hours in them. The instructors there are also top notch. They took me from my Private Pilot rating all the way through my Instrument, Commercial, and Flight Instructor ratings and I enjoyed every minute of it. Highly recommended!!!

I kept seeing Flyers Academy ads all over advertising multi rating in 5 days, so I started looking…read moreinto getting my multi done. I called around to quite a few schools and most were booked out a month or two, which actually worked out because I still needed to finish my instrument rating. Unfortunately, after my instructor left, things kind of stalled out. I wasn't making any progress, so I called Flyers Academy and explained my situation--that I needed to get my instrument completed and wanted to move right into my multi. Omar, the owner, called me a few hours later saying we can get it done now. They were able to squeeze me in, get my instrument wrapped up, schedule a checkride, then roll right into my multi and another checkride. It was a lot of work and definitely an intense 10 days, but the entire crew was incredible. From the moment I arrived, Omar made sure I was taken care of. The operation is extremely well organized, the airplanes were clean and well maintained, and everything worked exactly as it should. The instructors genuinely care about your success and put in long days to make sure you're prepared. Most days started around 7 or 8 in the morning and went until 10 at night. I'd like to thank everyone who helped me along the way--Sam, Sunny, Mike, Dom, and especially Vivian. Vivian was an outstanding instructor and went above and beyond every day to make sure I understood everything and was fully prepared. I honestly can't say enough good things about her. Seriously, thank you again Vivian. If you're serious about getting ratings done and are willing to put in the work, I highly recommend Flyers Academy. They also have great and clean accommodations for anyone traveling in, including space if you're staying in a van, which was a huge plus for me. Thank you again to the entire Flyers Academy team. There were no aircraft behind it where they usually stored their 'training aircraft'. Their back door was usually open during business hours but it appeared to be closed. Their big sign in front was gone. For all intents and purposes they appeared closed for good. I saw 2 of their 'training aircraft' out on the Ramp, tied down, dirty, and appeared to be derelict aircraft, now. Sad. I was hoping they would stay and be a successful training facility. But alas, it appears that they failed and closed their facility. Does anyone else get the same impression, or have more information? When I tried to call them the phone automatically disconnected. After 4 attempts it became fairly obvious that their land-line is permanently disconnected.

Taking the reigns on a plane for the first time can be nerve wracking but Evan was right there with me the whole time supporting me. Prior to takeoff he slowly and deliberately walked me through each step of the pre-flight inspection. In the air, we had a really great time trying out all sorts of maneuvers and practicing in the airspace. He clearly described everything every step of the way. Afterwards, he took the time to explain how different flight schools are set up and the syllabus that they've created at FlightCerts to ensure that their students get the best of all worlds.
