I've walked passed Freshly Ground 4 or 5 times a week for the last couple or years and never given it much of a look. Today, whoever, I needed wifi quickly, so went in for a quick coffee and logged-on.
The first thing I noticed was a lovely little back garden at the back. It is only small, 3 or 4 bench tables, but it was a really nice surprise.
The shop itself is really small and decorated with dark wood. It has a very warm feel about the place. It is pretty basic, but I was quite surprised how much liked it.
The coffee was delicious! I had a latte and it came in a glass mug with the bottom half milk and the top half coffee - so I had to stir it to mix it. Which I thought was a nice touch. But I'm a sucker for a gimmicky thing like that!
The staff were lovely. After I ordered I realised I didn't have any cash on me. The women said it was fine to finish my coffee and run across the road to get cash out.
There is nothing spectacular about Freshly Ground, but it is charming in its own right and the little back garden is a hidden gem for a summer afternoon! read more
