But today I just wanted coffee so I thought I'd give it a go. What an awesome little place to hang out! From the outside Playground looks more like a hipster arts and craft shop. But in a good way. It looks intriguing and different from a lot of coffee shops that try and be hipster - theres an irony to Playgrounds hint of hipsterness! Get inside and the first thing you see are two wooden swings (yes swings) with a really nice chill-out windowsill with cushions to sit on. I'm actually sat on the windowsill as a type this and it's a really nice place to be! Much like the outside, the decor inside Playground is different to many other coffee shops close by; refreshingly different. There's lots of colour, swings and a few board games. It feels much more relaxing than your average chip board heavy coffee shop. The coffee itself is really good. I went for the house flat white which was quite sweet and really moreish. It was delicious. All in all a really nice experience and refreshing to see someone breaking the mould. Accepts Bristol Pounds & text to pay

Hot chocolate is what this place does best I think, I had a regular hot choc with all the toppings, cream, flaked chocolate and marshmallows and it was very enjoyable, I also had a slice of polenta cake which was very nice. I'm giving it 3 stars just because it didn't feel particularly friendly or welcoming, the staff were all nice enough and no one did anything wrong but they were just not what I have come to expect from a good cafe.

It is a refreshing and…read morefriendly place that you feel welcomed into as soon as you step through the door - the staff are always smiling and happy to help you too, which is always great. From the outside it looks like your average little café, and has a glass front which lets light into the place and creates a relaxing atmosphere. The seats by the window are definitely the best - especially if you enjoy people watching whilst enjoying a coffee! The best thing about Café Meme is their hot chocolates - which I would definitely recommend! They make their hot chocolates using real melted chocolate, and they taste delicious. Try the white hot chocolate - it sounds unusual but is amazing! They serve a variety of light lunches such as paninis, soups, salads etc - so it's perfect if you just fancy popping out with a friend to grab a small bite to eat. One thing to note is that this café is fairly small, and doesn't have the capacity to seat many people - I have visited a few times before and it is often the case that you have to wait for a table. However, if you visit at slightly off peak times such as before lunch or in the afternoon then you are more likely to find a seat! Another bonus is their loyalty card scheme! If you visit often enough you can collect stamps which contribute towards a freebie at the café!

Now this is what I call Brunch!…read more One of my besties and fellow Elite, Alice C, has been banging on about Bakers & Co for a while. So with a day off me and my girl decided to go check it out. From the outside Bakers & Co looks lovely. It has white walls with a yellow parasol and big yellow branding. With a couple of tables and chairs outside it looks really nice! Inside it gets better. Your instantly greeted by a counter of beautiful cakes an pastries and five or six staff cooking food in the open kitchen. It's really surprising how far back the seating goes. They have done a great job with the little space the have. The decor inside is much the same as outside; nice white walls with yellow and wicker furnishings. On to the food: The menu is pretty small but everything looks and sounds great. It's not your normal breakfast/brunch menu. I wanted everything on it, but We both went for the seared steak with potatoes cheese bake and poached eggs. It was absolutely amazing! The potatoes was different to what I expected, but probably better. I had a lemon grass and goner tea while Soph had a fresh orange juice. Both were great, nothing out of the ordinary, just very good! Definitely a contender for the best breakfast in Bristol. Considering they recently opened, the lack of free tables shows that a lot of people like it as much as we did! Great job, guys!

We quickly grabbed the last table in the place (it was heaving, but that's to be expected on Saturday lunchtime). It's got a lovely warm lively atmosphere -and I must say super friendly staff. We both went for the beetroot and pumpkin seed cake and a well-deserved cup of coffee, like mother like daughter. The coffee was delightful, good fruity proper coffee. Just what we needed after our shopping ordeal. The beetroot cake was utterly divine, lightly spiced and filled with scrummy orange cream cheese, with little crunchy pumpkin seed surprises all the way through. In the words of my dear sweet mother it was "f****ng amazeballs"! Love it. Keep up the good work guys!

You may have to hold your nose to brave it inside but browsing the shop is definitely worth the smell. The shop is very cheerful- a bright red exterior and brightly patterned mugs in the interior. The mugs are fine bone china so prices are slightly more than you might expect. Some of the images and motifs on the mugs you can find in other shops but there is such a vast range that there are plenty of rarer images and patterns. If you, or somebody you know, is a coffee-lover then I would certainly pay this shop a visit because you are bound to find just the mug you want. The shop also sells a selection of coffee which you will not be able to resist adding to your shopping basket.
