I have been to another Fresh Thyme Market and enjoyed the selection of products and the customer service at that location. This particular Fresh Thyme Market location was wonderful because it was larger and had a much better selection of products. The staff were wonderful and very helpful when I asked for assistance on a product. The prices were very reasonable and fit within my budget. This Fresh Thyme is bigger than the Broad Ripple or the W 86th St locations, but laid out much the same. Service at the Deli was good. I let them know what I wanted and then went shopping for the rest of the groceries. When I swung back to the Deli my order was ready. The store was clean. I look for an excuse to come around noontime to do my shopping so I can get lunch. I LOVE the salad bar with many heathy options including kale, artichokes, beets, roasted garlic, plus many standard salad fare options. You won't find iceberg lettuce on this bar! About once a month they run a special at $5.99/ pound. The standard price is $6.99. Also the freshly made to order pizzas and sandwiches are delicious and only take about 10 minutes to prepare. They provide complimentary water in the dining area or you can pick up s coffee for 99 cents (only wish they had real cream for the coffee.). I exclusively buy my vegetables from Fresh Thyme because they are always fresh and reasonably priced. They run great weekly specials. I have found mixed success with their meats. The bacon and chicken tenderloins are great/ fantastic. Their beef can be fatty and seafood sometimes fishy and mostly imported. They do offer Boarshead meats in the deli, which are always good. I like how they label gluten free so that it is easy to find in the aisles. Kids treated well with little shopping carts, a free fruit, and a game of find the hidden tractor. read more

One of my favorite grocery stores. I wish I still lived down the street. I generally come in here to take advantage of sale items plus fresh produce. Other items are priced higher than at regular grocery stores. I appreciate how friendly the staff is. The store also feels very clean and it's small and easy to navigate. They don't sell liquor here! So if you come here when you have a nasty head cold, and you want to make a hot toddy, you will find everything you need to make your hot toddy ... except the bourbon. You are probably too sick to make a second stop, so virgin hot toddies it is. I know. I know! They have all that other non-bourbon stuff, like food. And they have tissues, but they're no good because they are, like, RECYCLED and they are super scratchy. So it's best to just buy your tissues at the regular grocery store. I am very upset with my experience at the Broad Ripple store. My 16 year old biracial son and I stopped in to buy some peaches and while I ran to the bathroom an associate accused my son of stealing and made him empty his pockets. That's not ok. My son was scared. My son's birthday was Tuesday and had money in his pocket and was wanting to buy a drink and a sweet treat. I have worked in retail and never in my training was I told to walk up to a customer and accuse them of stealing with no evidence. I am unsure of this associate's motivations as I was in the bathroom but I do know harassing a child is not in your job title. UNACCEPTABLE. read more

I have never heard of Fresh Thyme until this location opened and now it seems they are everywhere! It's a great alternative if you're not near a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. The price range is probably in the middle between Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. I find that the store is extremely organized and the produce looks great, however, you typically have to use it asap. For the most part, they do not carry brand name items so when I went to go look for Sprite/Coke as a mixer for drinks, I had to settle for their store brand which did not taste like lemon lime or cola soda at all. Their rewards program is not that great either, you have to buy select items to earn rewards and they're typically not super frequent items that I would normally buy. read more

Love this store and the staff is just great. The big negative is that more than 80% of the time, there is an overcharge on our bill for their system not honoring promotions, sales and BOGOs. When they had staffed checkouts, we could get the credit right away. However, the one remaining lane is very rarely open, and no one can refund the overcharges. Corporate office does not respond, nor does management at this store, so we have filed a BBB complaint, a complaint with the Indiana Attorney General's office, and are considering a small claim's court lawsuit if we do not received a refund of the overcharges. This is not limited to our store, but appears to be a widespread issue with Fresh Thyme and their parent company Lake Ventures, LLC in Ohio. They know of the problem, but have failed to correct it. As an investigative journalist, I hear from consumers on a daily basis about these types of issues at various stores. I am increasingly hearing from Fresh Thyme customers with similar complaints of overcharging and the store's failing to refund. It's very frustrating since the stores are nice, the staff wonderful, and promotions good (if the sale price is honored). It would be a shame if they miss this opportunity to correct their issues and make it right. But, if they fail to do so, they will be made accountable through the court system. read more

I like Fresh Thyme, they have good deals on fresh produce. But sometimes some of their young cashiers lack common sense and customer service skills. There were 2 lines right next to each other, the one closest to me had a customer who just finished ringing up so I got in line. The customer turns around and decides to make another purchase and when the cashier tried to ring it up something went wrong. The cashier in the next line decides to stand there calling for the manager instead of asking me to move over so she can ring me up. The first cashier had to ask the other, "Can you ring her up so she doesn't have to wait?" If not for the first cashier having good customer service skills I probably would have been left there to wait. (I was about to give them 4 stars here until I realized...) My total came up to an even number which I thought was strange so when I looked at the receipt later I realized she decided to take it upon herself to round up my bill for their fund raising cause. I used to love going here once a week for the salad bar. It was the best salad bar I had ever had. Until, it slowly went downhill last summer. I started noticing everything would look wilted and no longer fresh. Then I was there one day when I pan was missing from the salad bar so you could see a huge gap with no ice underneath, cold air or anything. I had already mostly filled my container and decided it was too late not to buy it. But since nothing in my container was cold, and this included meat items, I decided to quit going there. I went back and looked around last week to see if this was still the case and yes, it appears to be. Again a pan was missing and again items did not look fresh or very cold. read more

Tidy store that fills most of your grocery needs. The smaller footprint made it easier to navigate and grab everything you need. The primary focus seemed to be fresh poultry, organic produce, and health products and supplements. The fresh poultry section had a good variety of meats and seafood, w/ a bigger selection than your Marsh or Kroger. The staff seemed knowledgeable about the meats and what sells well. The produce section was smaller than I expected, but had most of the typical vegetables and fruits. The health section had a staff member available in case you have any questions about vitamins and supplements. Another highlight was the bulk items area, with a good selection of coffee, trail mixes, and dry goods. The to-go meals area also comes in handy in case you want to grab something quick. The only thing that seemed to be missing was a beer and wine section. Perhaps this location is not big enough to stock such items. I expected much higher prices at Fresh Thyme but that wasn't the case at all. The weekly specials were competitive, and some prices were even lower than bigger and more established chains. I'd been meaning to check out Fresh Thyme Farmer's Market ever since it opened up on Indy's Northside not far from Keystone at the Crossing. I was driving home from visiting a new restaurant in the area, The District Tap, and figured it would be a great chance to check it out while possibly also picking up a few items I needed. Fresh Thyme Farmer's Market seems to want to find a place in that natural foods grocery market dominated mostly by Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Fresh Market. While I'm unaware of their complete history, they seem to primarily be a regional chain with locations in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. They also have an emphasis on being more reasonably priced than most market options targeting this market, a welcome endeavor considering how difficult it can be for someone on a modest income to eat a healthy diet. I was pleasantly surprised to pull into the parking lot and see several ADA compliant parking spots right up front. I'm always amazed at how often it seems like retail businesses centered on healthy living tend to shortchange those with disabilities (I'm looking at you Whole Foods). That's definitely not true here. Unfortunately, I wasn't quite as impressed once inside despite service that I found to be impressive if not a bit obsessive. I had this feeling that they'd had a page in their training manual that said "If someone comes in with a disability, by god, you must help them. Help them, I tell you." Every time I turned around, I was being offered assistance. On the flip side, it wasn't condescending and my friendly declines were met without resistance. I wasn't sure what to expect as I'd stopped by during opening weekend and promptly left because it was so crowded and all the accessible spots were taken (and not all the vehicles had identifiable tags). However, I was pleased with the store's overall accessibility despite several times having to stop going down an aisle because it wasn't quite wide enough for a wheelchair and someone else's cart. I also found there were times when I'd encounter the obstacle of an employee stocking shelves and the employee seemed oblivious to my need to pass around them. The store had a wide variety of organic foods, a slew of gluten free options clearly marked, and nicely separated sections for bakery, meat, etc. It almost felt like they'd taken the best things about Trader Joe's and the best things about Whole Foods and made them happen in their store. The decor reminded me of a much more organized and user friendly Trader Joe's, a store that far exceeds Fresh Thyme in terms of service, but drives me nuts with its layout and lack of wheelchair friendliness. I also found there were times when Fresh Thyme seemed to contradict its whole "farmers market" theme and bent toward healthy options. I mean, really, Monster drinks in the freezer area? That's ludicrous. Lil' Maid Animal Crackers? Please. there were several brands where I found myself mumbling "that's not exactly a healthy alternative," but this was fortunately the exception and not the rule. While prices here are still a touch higher than most grocery stores, I would agree that they are on the low end of retail for this type of retail establishment. While I ended up leaving today without making a purchase, I found myself feeling fairly certain that I would definitely return in the future. I can't picture Fresh Thyme becoming a shopping destination for me, but when I'm in the area and in the need it'll definitely be a place where I return. read more

This review is about LUNCH! I have always eyed the salad and olive bar here, so in between appointments when I didn't want fast food, I stopped in. The salad bar has just about every option you want, and at $6.99 a lb, it's affordable to pack on the toppings. They have to-go or eat-in container options as well. They also offered 4 different soups. I chose the broccoli cheese and enjoyed the large pieces of broccoli. I did not eat in, but they do offer cafe style seating at the front of the store. Besides salad and soap, the deli offers hot options such as pizza and sandwuches. I also noticed they had fresh made lasagna and pasta options (individual potions) by the rotisserie chicken! Fresh Thyme is a great grocery chain that I'll frequent whenever I'm in the area. They have competitive prices to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Kroger. I do most of my shopping at Aldi, so I am spoiled when it comes to prices, so I always know if I can find a better deal there compared to other groceries. At times, you'll find STEALS at Fresh Thyme, other times, their prices compare to Whole Foods ($$$$). Reasons to love this place: - service is always great; - pour-your-own candies and nuts (to reduce plastic); - CBD oil is sold here; - GREAT vegetarian/vegan selection; - they incorporate local products as much as possible (YAY Circle City Kombucha); - great selection of supplements and vitamins and other health-related / beauty products. Come here for a yummy soup or sandwich for lunch. Maybe shop their specials if you live or work close by. Other than that this place is expensive and specialty ethnic food items can't be found here. (Example Israeli pearl couscous) Generally I feel selection isn't as varied as Whole Foods. Also it took them about six + months to replace the paper bowls where the lids didn't fit properly (for soup and olive bar). Today for the first time since starting to eating lunch here - the dang lid actually seals everything shut. I do appreciate the dining area with microwaves and complimentary sauces. Fresh Thyme is a grocery store that focuses on fruit and vegetables. The store has a nice, open layout that makes it easy to find what you are looking for. They have a couple of salad bars that are similar to what you would see at Whole Foods. If you're a careful shopper, you can find items with prices comparable with other grocery stores. The customers were almost exclusively women in their 30s wearing high-end workout clothes. The staff is friendly, but they need to chill out. There were about 50 employees frantically pacing back and forth across every inch of the store. These staff members made me nervous. It reminded me of walking in New York City. It's a decent store, but I don't plan on returning. read more

Their "loss leader" weekly specials (those low-priced sale items to get you in the door) are good deals, perhaps better than Kroger's weekly specials. I've found some great things at the deli counter, including the Chicago sweet Italian chicken sausage....a fantastic buy at 3.99/pound. On Thursday you can double up and use the previous week's ad plus the new week for more savings! As with any health food store, shopping the aisles can get pricey. I think the store sucks....in NO WAY is this anything like a local farmers market as I could not find anything local...although the staff member was sure they had local.. Cheese with artificial flavors ??? How is that possible ? Ok- I am kind of obsessed. I purposefully planned my trip for late Friday night so that I could come in and experience the store without getting overwhelmed by the crowds. And I was pretty impressed. The store is very spacious, with lots to offer in the way of deli meats, cheese, salad bar, olive bar, bakery items, and produce. I perused the deli/salad bar portion and was pleasantly surprised to find freshly sliced roast beef with only like 2 ingredients in it! I also ended up picking up some olives for the bar, a breakfast burrito from the deli, and was very tempted to try some bakery items. I also bought 2# of grass fed beef for around $6-$7/lb, which I thought was very reasonably priced. They offer a good selection of bison and lamb as well. I picked up some chicken chorizo sausage (made fresh in store!), and some Applegate Organic Turkey dogs (I can usually only find the conventional dogs). Last to be picked up in this section was a roasted bone for the pup. He wasn't too sure about it at first, and then devoured the whole thing! Next up was the produce. I checked things out for a while and found most of it to be very reasonably priced (organic honey crisp apples for $0.77/lb!) I loaded up on veggies and picked up some new things to try making at home (persimmons and beets to be exact!). I then headed to dairy, where I think I stood in front of the cases for about 20 minutes looking all of the different yogurts, cottage cheeses, and milks. I about died. I ended up trying a new brand of milk (Kalona Supernatural) and am in love. Small batch pasteurized (I try to avoid ultra-pasteurized, which just about every organic milk is!). It is not homogenized either, which means the cream will separate. Which makes for great coffee creamer :) After selecting my dairy, I proceeded to the standard grocery aisles which were filled with my every delight. I think I got the most satisfaction out of just looking at everything. I was super happy that there was a bulk spice section (how many times have you had to purchase a whole bottle of some spice for 1 recipe that you'll never use again?!). I also checked out their bulk food section. I was overall pleased, and got olive oil, almond meal, and dried cannellini beans on the cheap. The only thing I missed was a wine section--if they got a wine section in, I would be supremely happy. This is now my go-to grocery store, and I love it! read more

This place has grown on me. I read reviews before going there, and my expectations weren't very high (plus, I'm pretty loyal to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods). Fast forward several weeks after they opened, I finally went over there. The store is not very big. and over half of it is devoted to produce, cheeses, meat, and other perishables. A small portion is devoted to bulk bins. Another small portion is devoted to refrigerator cases with things like butter from grass-fed cows, etc. About 15% is devoted to vitamins, probiotics, etc. And the remainder is devoted to dry/boxed/canned goods. You really can't beat the prices on their sales produce. All different types of potatoes (red, Yukon Gold, russet, etc.) for only 69 cents per pound, non-organic bell peppers and cucumbers 2/$1, etc. The organic fruit is priced not much higher than the regular version (unlike in most other stores, where the price differences are dramatic). The produce seems as fresh, if not fresher, than places like Whole Foods. Feta cheese was $5.99/lb., so a small container comes to just over $2. . . not bad. I bought some chocolate-covered almonds and cashews from the bulk containers and, at about $6/lb., it came out cheaper than buying something similar that is prepackaged (and likely has been sitting on shelves a while). Their weekly sales flyers feature produce at what seem to be prices that are too good to be true. Those are loss leaders designed to get people into the store, where they will inevitably buy other items that are wildly marked up (like soy and almond milk) in the name of convenience. read more

I enjoy shopping here for the good prices, organic selections and friendly faces. It's my go to market for produce, they do not disappoint. I also get bulk organic coffee beans here regularly. The only thing I would recommend improving is the meat/fish counter. I just never find what I'm looking for or if they do have what I need, it just doesn't always look fresh. I end up getting most stuff here but usually take another trip to whole foods or fresh market for my meat/fish. So to sum up: I'd love to make this my one stop shop...their body/vitamin/cosmetic selection is great, and the prices and sales here are great. But unfortunately, I have to make another stop for additional protein elsewhere. But if you vegan or vegetarian you should be all good and I recommend checking this place out! read more

I drive by Fresh Thyme almost every day. For the last several months I've been eagerly waiting as they finished building the store. Finally, it opened I waited a few days for the rush to die down, and made my first (and second) visit this week. On the first visit, I took my time and really explored the entire store. My main takeaways: 1) they had honeycrisp apples on sale for $0.77/lbs (which is crazy), 2) they sell honey and olive oil as a "fill a jar" method as well as local honey, 3) they grind fresh peanut butter in store and sell tubs of it, 4) they have every bulk item you could imagine in bulk bins, 5) service is absolutely top notch. The wait to checkout at both of my visits was minimal and my entire checkout time was less than 5 minutes. No, they don't have everything you need for the week for groceries, but it is a great place to shop for most of your fresh, organic, or local items. Nice selection, Poor customer service I love that they have a great selection of produce it is a lot less expensive than the other "fresh organic" stores. The location is convenient with plenty of parking and easy access on/off 82nd street. Unlike the other fresh store they have a pharmacy/natural remedies department. Unfortunately my last experience there was pretty poor when it came to customer service. I was searching for something for 10 minutes with many employees around me restocking and not a single one asked me if they could help me. The gentleman working in the meat department saw me standing there for almost 5 minutes waiting to have someone help me and when he finally made I contact with me he rolled his eyes before coming out to ask what i wanted. The last thing that got me was when I checked out afterward still not finding what I needed no one asked me if I found everything I needed. I gave the cashier a bill he could not give me change for when he finally got the change he didn't count my money out to me to make sure I got what I was supposed to get he just handed it to me and said here. I truly love Fresh Thyme! I go on Sunday evenings to stock up for the week! I used to shop at Aldi however the fruit at Fresh Thyme is fresher and more economical. We also LoVE the sale prices!!! Lastly, I really enjoy the organic options! I especially appreciate the fruit and snack bin they have for little ones in the store for my 18 month old. She goes directly to this bin and gets a little treat for herself! This is so thoughtful!!! The store (and bathrooms) are very clean and I especially love the Fresh Thyme app that shows me the additional savings before I go to the store!!! Since I was in the area I stopped in to pick up a few things. Fresh Thyme is still one of my favorite grocery stores, that hasn't changed. I'd rather buy meats and produce at a Fresh Thyme than some of the other grocery stores. People! Don't forget about double coupon Thursdays! read more
