I stumbled upon FS when I was looking for a good organization to donate clothes to. FS was suggested to me from my Facebook group. I went in the website to learn more and was so impressed. The website shows all the programs they offer, their history, special events and volunteer opportunities. When I dropped off my donation the front desk staff was super friendly and seemed very appreciative. I knew immediately that I made the right choice. Turns out they have a clothing boutique where they allow their clients free/very inexpensive shopping. I decided that I wanted to do more and signed up to volunteer. The process was organized & very professional. I completed orientation and was an official volunteer with 30 days of donating. What FRESH START does to empower women in the Phoenix community is so inspiring and I am honored to have the opportunity to give back and service the clients in the best way I can. On top of that the staff...all the staff is so welcoming, genuine and very appreciative of the volunteers. I always feel valued by them and the clients whenever I volunteer my time or services. If you know a woman that could benefit from the services that FS offers such as workshops, career coaching & mentors to name a few...this place is worth checking out! read more

What an amazing organization for empowering women. They have a really amazing mentor program. The program starts in some coursework and sociology to sort of prepare us. The classes were a blast and quite useful. The Mentor I met was incredibly helpful warm and kind and had great insight. I really miss our visits since I moved away because she was a wise lady with clear perspective. I really think that the Fresh Start staff went an extra mile and a half by placing me with a mentor who really was perfect for the path that I am on. Fresh Start also brought in some business training associates and gave out scholarships for them. I might have participated had I not been working at the time and had conflicting hours. I was offered a scholarship at the time and I think that any woman who applied herself would qualify. Fresh start has an impressive job database. They always had so many wonderful energetic staff who really transmitted a lot of information and light. Really wonderful organization. A+++ read more

This is a place that really helps a lot of women across the valley find direction and help during transitions in life. Whether you are new to the valley as I am or a long time resident they openly receive you and assist you. They offer short term programs to assist with finding resources for counseling, education, car repairs & transportation, interviewing, networking, resume writing, self esteem & empowerment, divorce workshops, housing, entering & returning to the workplace, the list goes on. They provide a clean, quiet & safe environment with some free daycare while using the resources at the location for all women, so as to minimize their worries and assist with getting them stabilized in the communities. It is the best such program, I have seen in any city and a beautiful environment as well. read more

This company has been a total waste of my time . The staff are very unprofessional and don't help at all. I wanted to take one class but they make you take several Pointless classes before being able to take the one you really need. This place is not for women who are already professionals, this is for people who don't know anything because when you do treat you like you don't. I would not recommend! read more

At one time they did not require you to have a membership card for check in; you could just come and go as you please. They now require online registration for any services, and then provide a card to you upon completion. There is a "children under 18 must have adult supervision" sign in the lobby now, as the child watch area has been taken away. Women who need childcare are given a list of centers in the area that charge discounted rates to Fresh Start members. A scholarship is offered to women to help offset costs; but this is given on a limited basis, and only covers costs of programs inside the center. This place was built to help women, and offers Goodwill career services as well; but there is little help for low income women= Many of the programs cost money even so you could find the same programs for free through an online search. There are no transportation vouchers, or bus passes given out. How are low income women and/or women in need of childcare supposed to benefit from this place?- The best things about this place are: The Goodwill career services, the produce food bus that visits the parking lot, the clothing closet, and the friendliness of the staff/volunteers. read more
