Have maintained my contract with Fresh Roots the last two years and have had no complaints. Crew shows up biweekly for edging, mowing, pruning of shrubs and hedges, works quickly and efficiently, and takes off. When I need to interact with the crew directly for any reason they are always friendly and accommodating. They regularly close and lock my backyard gate after themselves which is super appreciated so that I don't have to worry about the dogs wandering out of the yard after a landscaping day. I've weeded my yard a few times before one of their visits and left the weeds in my driveway, too lazy to grab the compost cart - every time they've just cleaned up after me without asking or additional charge. Feels silly but just a small detail of good customer service! Have hired Fresh Roots for a few additional projects without issues. Great experience. read more

Denny and his team are just amazing ! Denny listens and understands the requirements very well and the team executes fast and takes pride in their work. Our project started right before Covid hit and hence brought in a lot of uncertainty. Our back yard lawn was destroyed after having a septic drainfield replacement. After having some general cleanup done we had to wait to return from vacation to plant the lawn. The crew was there at 8am the following Monday after our return and got to work leveling the ground, putting in topsoil, edging, and new lawn reseeding as well as bark for the beds. They came by almost 1.5 years ago and installed a fence and put down sod for our mini front yard. The fence is great but the sod completely died within a month. I watered every day and tried fertilizer, etc. turns out they put full sun sod down and the area is incredibly shaded. I told them and they came back to lay partial sun seeds. They threw it down really rough and didn't even rake in the seeds or lay dirt. After doing all I could to try to make it work they obviously all died again and we wasted a lot of money for nothing. We a 80 foot long/20 feet tall arborvitae cedar hedge that was out of control! I called the number and someone actually answered the phone. Unlike other landscapers who I tried calling and leaving a voicemail. Kevin was able to come out that day and see me!! We both talked about what I wanted and what it actually entailed. Like requiring a retaining wall and such. I met with other landscapers but they just didn't seem involved with the conversation. Kevin was great and he sent me a reasonable estimate and we moved forward. He knew I had a deadline and was willing to do it. The job was to start on Wednesday but his guys were sick and so he said Friday and reassured me it would be done by next Friday. I appreciate the call for the heads up too. They came Friday as agreed on. And they were done in 2 Days!!! My walkway and yard look A-MAZING!! Such a beautiful transformation. And they picked up after themselves. I've had other landscapers who make a lot of trash and leave them I would definitely call Kevin when I need anything to do with my yard. And I inquired about bark placement and they did that too. Sent over a quote for my job and it looked good so I replied back that I wanted to book. Fresh Roots didn't reply for over two weeks until I reached back out. When they finally responded they wanted to do the job the very next day. Which gave me no time to make arrangements at my job. Denny responded to my inquiry for a quote promptly and professionally. He actually did some measurements and calculations before he gave us a quote whereas the other company took some thoughtful steps, without calculating or measurements, and then gave us a price quote that now seems outrageous for the fair price Denny charged us. He and his crew did an awesome job on our brand new fence and retaining wall. Initially, he said he wouldn't be able to start until 2-3 weeks out but in less than a week after giving us a quote, he and his crew started and done really fast! I was referred to Denny from a friend for my yard work. Yard work is no joke, and it is tough! I don't know how these people can do it for a living, it is hard work! I guess he just recently opened his own company, way to go! I thought I would give it a shot to help support small business. I called him on a weekend afternoon and we were able to schedule a consultation for later on that week. Danny was professional and friendly from the start. When he came out, I forgot to lock up my dogs as well because I lost track of time and they tried to eat him. Rather than him trying to dig a hole and bury them or kicking them across the yard, he calmly stood there so not to frighten them and let me corral them. He remembered I mentioned that I was squeezing him in before I had to run out and do something so he mentioned he was working with me on my time restrictions and provided me a quick, yet thorough estimate. He made sure I didn't have any questions, and put up with all my nitpicking questions! I was provided and electronic estimate which I thought was pretty cool. I've previously worked with other landscapers and they always have this handwritten bill which I can never read and don't trust since everything nowadays is electronic. When Denny and his crew came back a couple days later, they worked quickly, professionally, and did an excellent job! We needed our lawn mowed since it hadn't been mode yet from last year and some bushes trimmed and basic overall maintenance. How hard would it be to mow your own lawn you may ask? how lazy am I? Yeah, it's pretty tough! I broke a sweat just trying to pull our lawn mower out of the garage! we have A hole under our fence as well that my little demon puppies have been digging to try to escape to the other side that Denny notice and explain how he could fix too. he was able to patch it on the spot as well! When I asked for references he referred me to Yelp which I found an interesting response. He said they use a Quickbooks system to provide quotes as he entered the details of our conversation & walk around. That was two weeks ago. I've left four phone messages with the last one asking that even if he's not interested in the project, just let me know either way. No response. No excuse for utter lack of communication on his part. Not sure why he wasted my time to begin with. We scheduled an estimate with Denny back in May. He was punctual and gave us a very reasonable quote on the spot- compared to others we interviewed. Since we decided to book at the busiest part of the season, our project didn't get started until mid July (understandable). We had pavers and grass installed in our backyard. Overall, I am absolutely thrilled with the quality of the work done. The guys also hauled away a garbage can and old bbq grill (bonus!) for us. Minus one star only for the simple fact that Denny's communication was inconsistent and took forever to respond to emails. I get that he is probably a busy guy, especially considering the time of year, but taking over a week to respond to one an email was a tad frustrating. We had fresh roots landscaping build us a new fence in April after the original 20 year old fence started to fall down. Denny was great, brought photos of work to the consult and was patient with answering ALL our questions about options, recommended materials, etc. The only "problem" if you can even call it that was that though we clearly told them to make the back fence as tall as possible and follow the slope of the yard, we did not specifically direct them to do so on the side of the fence. Ended up that the top of the side fence was made level instead of being as tall as possible in each section. The next customer can prevent this issue by being clearer on their instructions.
