ginger lemonade

This was a great spot! The inside space had a great vibe and energy; on brand decor, bright lighting, neon signs. The staff were young and friendly. The seating space indoors was small but there was substantial patio seating available if the day was sunnier! We ordered two ginger lemonade which were fresh and delicious. Started with an appetizer of pita and red pepper hummus which was average. For mains, we did a falafel burger and a moroccan chicken skewer which were AMAZING. I mean, like flavors that made me so happy. The chicken skewers had a strong seasoning and were accompanied by a sauce that created a dynamic flavor pairing. Finished with baklava that was average; had a good flavor but it was a bit dry. Will be back!

Was excited to try. I've had a lot of Greek food. This gyro missed the mark. Ordered no spice and got home for dinner. With the first bite my mouth lit up. No need for cayenne or other hot spice on a good gyro. I was given a gyro with a lot of heat that I specifically didn't want. Checked the bill to make sure I ordered correctly and I did. Not what I ordered and it's too much to drive back.

I love this place whenever my husband and I come back to Des Moines. We actually had them do catering for our home wedding signing. Their platters are so colorful and it food is great as a healthier "fast" food option. Their custom teas are sooooo good. This will definitely be a staple now that we've moved to Des Moines

Customer service: 10/10!!! The person at the drive thru was so awesome. Food: 11/10!! I'm not gonna lie, most of the rating is going towards the fries. The seasoning was addicting, and I am going back for more. Best fries with seasoning I have ever had. More restaurants need to take notes on these fries. Big fan. I also loved the sauce that had a little bit of horseradish in it. I dipped my chicken in it, and it hit the spot! Pita and tzatziki was great as always. Honestly, I'm here visiting and just stopped here for a quick bite to eat, but I will be coming back before I leave to eat at least 2 large fries by myself. I absolutely love this place!

Highly recommend for authentic Mediterranean. The spicy hummus doesn't disappoint if you like a kick! Darling little set up inside. We have a picky kiddo, so plenty of options for children too.

Ginger Lemonade and Baklava

Delicious!!! High quality, fresh, flavorful food. The staff is very friendly. I had a gyro pita, it was the best I've ever had, delicious tzatziki sauce too. My sister had a chicken kabob with spicy peanut sauce, very good! The baklava is outstanding! The ginger lemonade is refreshing. I look forward to coming back!

Very good! I needed quick and this delivered. Food came out quickly and not dry. I think everything tasted fresh. Portion was huge. I loved all the sauces and hummus. Chicken Moroccan was heavy on flavor. The salad was perfect with enough tomatoes, onions and cucumbers. I wish they would have served a whole pita so I could eat all the hummus.

My mom and I come here every time I am back in town. It is absolutely fabulous. I always get the chicken platter which comes with chicken, rice, veggies, a Greek salad, and hummus with pita

Best salads on the west side! Fave Mediterranean place in all of Des Moines. The food is SO fresh, and great value. Always friendly staff and the interior is a cute place to catch a casual meal. Don't forget to try the complimentary cucumber water!

Whoever is at the front desk should proactively greet each person and ask "dining in or to go?" Instead the lady waited for me and the next person to takk with her first. Then she asked if we knew what we wanted. If they fix this, your answer should be "to go". While the ambiance is lovely, the fact they make you buy bottles of drinks instead of having cups of water or other drinks available really decreases the value of sitting in and cheapens the experience. The restaurant ambiance is also marred by all the items for sale like a local market. Perhaps it makes it feel more genuine, but definitely makes it feel less fine dining. That and the music gets interrupted by what is likely alarms or timers on the phone playing music. Perhaps it shouldn't be thought of as fine dining, and more of a foreign family diner. The service was nearly non-existent. As mentioned before you had to proactively ask how things worked, there were no refills as it's just bottles ... and the bottles just sit in a fridge. Outside of that she sat at the front desk on her phone, though she did ask how everything was... once... after we got it. She also thanked us for coming when we left. It took about 10 minutes to get food... not bad since the food seemed fresh. That said the food was good enough. I've had better chicken shawarmas, but nothing tasted bad. It's slightly above average experience hence the rating. I wouldn't go so far as to say you must try this place, but I wouldn't say don't come here either. I hope they improve the experience over time. This review is meant as constructive criticism.

It was getting to be dinner time, so asked my wife to meet me here for my last stop. Every time we've stopped here, we have been impressed with the quality of the food and tonight was no different. I had already enjoyed some Happy Hour specials at another venue, but my wife hadn't yet eaten dinner. She ordered the Gyro & Fries (see picture) and as you might guess, I did try a couple of bites. We both thought it was a very good gyro and were delighted to see that it is the daily special each day from 11-2, so we will definitely be coming back for lunch some day. The greeter was very friendly and our server was super nice and pleasant to have as a waiter. His recommendations were spot on. The whole restaurant was hopping busy but operating very smoothly. Not a quiet place, a true sports bar ambiance. The wings were very very good. Maybe some of the better ones I've had here in town. The gyro was fantastic, and huge. Great value. The wife's flatbread was great too. Excellent food all the way around. Prices for very reasonable. Happy hour helps some of the prices for sure, but still a well priced establishment. We are fans of this place and will most certainly be back.

We were running a tight schedule which is our fault. I ordered the Creamy Steak de Burgo with Rosemary Potatoes. I ordered it medium and chose the beef tenderloin. Well it didn't come out medium or rare, but raw. I mean raw. The server agreed and took it back. It took a while to come back and by that time we needed to go to catch the show. We also barely made it to the show. I had to take it to go. The server didn't say anything to the manager or apologize or anything. Again I know I was in a tight schedule, but it is your responsibility to ensure the food is correct and cooked to order. I am not giving up on Opa! because the food is solid, The service could be better. The beef tenderloin was very good with the creamy garlic, wine, & basil sauce. Tossed and topped with mushrooms. The rosemary potatoes were fire, especially with the creamy sauce from the tenderloin. I would ask for more sauce next time. I did the upgrade and it's definitely worth it. They need to work on getting the rare, medium, medium well, and that's not good correct. What I got back was a very well done tenderloin. This is a solid meal and I will be back to give it a shot. We never said we were in a hurry or anything. Just want it cooked correctly. The salad and bread were good. I would get the salad dressing on the side. My gorgeous wife got the lasagna and I got a bite. It was amazing as well. She loved it and would get it again. We hadn't planned on going to Opa! but we did and I absolutely love the atmosphere and feel this is a solid place, just wasn't a great experience. I was so damned hungry through the entire show at the Civic Center and may have been hangry.

We were greeted and asked if we were dining in (it appears they do a brisk takeout business) and were told to sit where we wanted. It was surprisingly crowded for a Sunday afternoon at 4 pm. The menu is extensive and hubby and I both like Mediterranean food. I chose the Falafel plate, served with five falafel balls, hummus, a pita, and Greek salad. The portion was generous (ended up taking two falafel home). Served with tahini and their house green sauce (olive oil, cilantro, and jalapeño) It wasn't spicy but it was so delicious - I could get addicted to this thinking of all the other ways so could enjoy it!! The Greek salad was served with house dressing - garlic and yogurt, also very good. The falafel was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, and flavorful. The hummus was not at all grainy - smooth but just a tad bland. Hubby had the lamb skewers and liked them very much. Served with rice, salad, and hummus. He also took one of the skewers home. We both had the mango Fresca juice. A bit too sweet for me but I generally drink unsweetened beverages. Hubby liked it a lot. Service was friendly and we were checked on twice to ask how we liked our food. Generous portions, friendly service, good food, but not inexpensive (with tip, $55 for two) but what is inexpensive these days?? It does fill up quickly, so a reservation is necessary if you're planning dinner, as the wait can be long. You can also choose to sit in the bar area, which is a bit more tucked away and quieter than the main dining room--and thankfully, there's no blaring TV. The service was great. The food is spectacular, especially the pizzas. The only drawback was that both the appetizers and pizzas arrived a bit on the cool side.
