He responded rather harshly with a lengthy explanation about the baseboards causing some kind of vacuum effect sucking dirt towards the edge and proceeded to berate me for not cleaning the rugs more often. He said they can't get better. I believed him. After he left, I ran my fingers along the carpets along the baseboards. I scooped up handfuls of dark dust! A couple of days later, my new tenant moves in, and complains about how filthy the rugs were. I took it with a grain of salt thinking she was an anal tenant because I knew they had been professionally cleaned. She proceeded to clean all the carpets again herself with a rental machine, then asked me to come over. What I saw was absolutely mind blowing. The water from her cleaning was disgustingly dark gray, while the carpets which was previously med. beige now looked a cream color. She was totally right. I went ahead and paid all her costs for the rental machine. That machine cost a fifth of what Steele charged. I don't like to speak poorly about anyone but this is about as bad as it gets.
