So I woke up around a week ago with a frig that had no light on when I went to try and get water. I started checking things in the frig and found 2 outlets not working. Then I found 2 more outlets in the Living Room that also were out. Everything else in the house was fine though. I reset the breakers and GFI switches. Nothing worked. So we rushed to get as much refrigerator and freezer stuff to a friend's house. But we needed an electrician. How could only part of the house be out of power like this? Monday I looked for a quote on Yelp. Never have tried before but within minutes a bunch of companies messaged me. Bayside Electric was one of them. Not only did they respond to me within an hour on Yelp, they also called and left a Voicemail. I talked to someone named Kaylee I think and she gave me the good news that someone might be able to come out in the afternoon. She wanted to call me back and double check to be sure. But within the hour, she called me back and an appointment for that same day was set. She also informed me of the rates beforehand. Chris was the gentleman who fixed our problem. He was super kind and professional when he arrived. He came with bags on his shoes to not track dirt in the house. He fixed our issue within minutes and educated me on the issue. Basically one of our breakers burned out so he just ended up replacing it. He also gave me two other scenarios, one being cleaning out the whole circuit breaker or the other option of completely replacing it. But never once did he ever feel like anything was dire. You know how you go to typical auto shops or even dealership and they make you seem like your car is not going to run the next day unless you get whatever they recommend fixed? Chris never did any scare tactics to make me seem like we were in trouble. It was so refreshing. When I mentioned that he said its because Bayside Electric was like his previous employer. Family owned so they aren't ever pressured to make sales on every service call. They are just there to help. So yea thats my story. If you are having any electrical issues this holiday, I highly recommend Bayside Electric. I can always get behind a company that doesn't want to treat their customers like a number.

I had a great experience with this company. I called because the track lighting in my loft had…read morestarted flickering after I replaced the old fixtures with LEDs. The system dates back to around 2000, and I assumed the old track itself was incompatible with the newer LED fixtures and would need to be upgraded or replaced. The electrician could easily have sold me on a much larger and more expensive project. Instead, he actually diagnosed the problem. He noticed that the lights were stable when the dimmer was turned all the way up and determined that the track system itself was perfectly fine--the problem was that the fixtures/system weren't designed to be dimmed. He replaced the dimmer with a simple on/off switch, and the flickering disappeared completely. I especially appreciated that he found the simplest correct solution rather than recommending unnecessary work. Knowledgeable, efficient, and trustworthy. I would absolutely call this company again.

After diagnosing the issue, Jerry explained that we'd need a new breaker panel and to add proper grounding, since one of the breakers was burned and could become a fire hazard--especially with our home being from the 1940s. This is a fact I wished hadn't slipped my mind, but I'll get back to this story in a bit. Back to Cortez- Cortez Electric was my first call and he was available the same day, earning him two stars because I do appreciate promptness. He had the light working and was out of the door within a couple of minutes. 2-3 minutes max. I was surprised by the call stating he was done, because I was just notified that he made it. The end cost to "reset the outlet" was $75 per minute!!!After paying the requested $150 via Venmo, I shared my opinion with him, writing, "for two minutes of work, you could have charged less as you have the discretion to do so". This interaction made me recall the exact same situation years ago with BPS Electric, who unfortunately no longer service residential clients. Unlike Cortez Electric, BPS Electric opted to not to charge anything after being in and out in a few minutes. I have attached my past BPS review. I'm not saying Cortez Electric does not have a right to charge whatever he wants. I'm not requesting "charity" as he suggested. I paid immediately because I have no problem paying for a service. What I am saying is that $150 is an excessive charge to reset an outlet which is effortless. At best you could have allowed utilization of the fullime you insisted to be paid for, more could have been done.
