I've been to Frenchies Bicycle Store four times for flat tire and tube replacements. Unfortunately, each repair was followed by another flat tire shortly afterward, which made me question the quality of the work. Each visit was also a very unpleasant customer service experience. I consistently found the owner to be cold, rude, and unwelcoming, and I left feeling undervalued as a customer. In my opinion, the prices are also high considering the poor quality and reliability of the repairs I received. I kept returning because the shop is conveniently located, and I wanted to give the owner the benefit of the doubt, thinking perhaps I had just caught him on a bad day. After four visits, however, I've concluded that my experiences were not isolated. Both the customer service and the repair quality were consistently disappointing. Afterward, I read several reviews from other customers describing experiences very similar to mine. I only wish I had read them after my first visit--it would have saved me considerable time, frustration, and money. I've decided to take my bike elsewhere, even if it means traveling farther. My mom has been here in the past and recommended this place. When I called the man that answered (I think the owner) said just come by whenever to drop it off. I immediately put my bike in my car and took it over. There was no line upon entering so I was immediately greeted and assisted. I told the man I didn't know exactly what needed to be done but I'm assuming I needed a new chain and new tires. He told me I needed new tubes and tires and that I didn't need a new chain and they could just oil it. He told me the tubes and tires would be $120 and it would be $30 for the oil. I'm not sure bike prices but I feel like this was a little ridiculous, but I was in a pinch so I just went ahead with it. He then aggressively started telling me I needed handlebars/plugs as I had none. I declined and he kept trying to push them on me. I kept telling him I have never used this bike with them and he said he won't let me ride my bike without it so he ended up doing that service for free. I appreciated that, but didn't like how aggressive he was about it. He was doing it out of care, but the encounter kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I paid and was charged $163, and was not given an itemized receipt so I have no clue where the extra $13 came from. Before I left, I asked him how long it would be to pick it up and he said probably a couple hours but he'll call to let me know when it's ready. A week goes by and I don't hear anything, so I finally call them and the same man (I think the owner) answers and tells me it's been ready and he's been waiting for me. I told him he never called to let me know and he said that the day I dropped it off he said it would be ready that same day. I told him that no he said it probably would, but that he would call anyways. He then backtracks and says he never calls people because they're too hard to get a hold of. They did a good job fixing my bike and it really is fast quality service, but the owner is a little abrasive and I think they are overcharging, especially if you're not knowledgeable. Totally disappointed.. sent my father to this place so he could get the chain replaced on the bike, and now I regret not accompanying him. They charged him to replace a chain, what other shops charge for a full bike tune-up. I'm assuming they took advantage once seeing my father is an older gentleman. Sketchy business, in 3 months I brought my sons SE bike to these guys for a simple flat tire/tube change, 3 times i brought his bike in, within one week each time the tire went flat, each time the price was different too 200 dollars total and on our last visit there the guy in overalls had the nerve to ask for a tip too, progressively more expensive each trip, guess how i solved the problem? i brought it to a different bike shop problem Solved. I called Frenchies prior to going there and spoke with the owner, Frenchie. I told him my right brake handle was "spongy" and needs an adjustment. He told me it would be $30 and I could bring it in anytime. When I arrived, no money was discussed and they immediately put my bike on the rack and went to work. Less than eight minutes later they were done and Frenchie tells me it'll be $85 which I thought he was kidding when he originally said it. When I balked at the $85 and telling him I had been in the shop less than eight minutes, he told me he had two guys working on it and I was paying for their expertise, time, talent and tools. When I reminded him that he quoted me $30 over the phone, he said yes, but that was for one wheel and we did both wheels. Mind you, the second one did not need adjusting. When I balked at that again, he said so what do you want me to charge you? $60? When I said that's better than $85 he agreed to charge me $60 plus another $5 tax. While the adjustment was a good one, I won't be back. While he may have been in business for 50+ years it's not because of his personality or customer service. read more

Not one part was purchased. They adjusted my back brake, filled my tire with air and claimed to have tightened my seat and surrounding bolt. I have an older high end bike frame that needed a specific kind of repair. I contacted a few shops who were either unwilling to work on it or did not have the skill or tools to work on it. I called Frenchies and they told me to bring it over. I picked it up today and it was good to go. The price was right the employee and owner friendly and as a bonus I spent a pleasant half an hour or so chatting about bikes past and present. Firstly I'll start off by saying our 7 1/2 year old son had never even attempted to ride a bicycle ( at least without training wheels) prior to walking into Frenchie's Bike shop. Through this whole pandemic, my husband & I were looking for things to do outside with our son. I remembered for years my parents couldn't stop talking about a guy named "Frenchie" who taught my nephew how to ride his bike his bike( i remember my parents saying Frenchie was unbelievable and "it was like magic" getting my nephew to ride. My parents struggled for months to trying to teach him ) First Lesson: Upon arriving for our lesson we walked into the shop and was greeted by "Frenchie" the store Owner. We first Walked around showing our son around the store. We did notice the store was nice and clean. ( we all wore a mask inside per local / state requirements and sign on the door) Also, ill add the they even had hand sanitizer available for customers use. There had a lot of bikes in stock for sale as well as several "practice bikes" available for private lessons. Frenchie asked us a few questions and then checked out our sons bike. He tightened lose areas my sons bike and make the PROPER adjustments for his height to get it safe and ready to ride. Frenchie discussed the "what TO Expect and NOT to expect" The 1st lesson: my son basically learned the basics. Frenchie taught him the proper ways to get on and off the bike, ( so he doesn't fall) balancing, and using his body/hips to control the bike. My son is on the smaller side for his age ( and his bike) So these very little things were so important and helpful. My husband and I could not have never explained them better ... to make much sense. The 1st lesson was successful and my son was balancing and steering the bike on his own. 2nd lesson: Our son truly did NOT want to go. He actually cried on the way there and was very upset. Quite frankly... I know he was just afraid / scared. We arrived at the bike shop and told the owner "Frenchie" some of the concerns our son shared with us he shared with on the ride over. --Frenchie right away Got down my our sons level and talked to him about the benefits of learning to ride a bike. He encouraged our son using several analogies that he could fully understand. ( thats when the MAGIC started to happen) Frenchie's words boosted our sons confidence ....& again had the desire to continue learning. 15 minutes later.... Our son was riding a bike on his own!!! It was an exciting moment and one I'll never forget. When we were All finished with 2nd lesson and getting ready to walk inside to pay. My son pulled us aside and started to cry. He said "Thank you for pushing him and bringing him today" ( giving hugs) He was soooooo Proud of himself and soooo Happy!! Totally made our hearts melt & we are sooooo proud of him. He felt accomplished Last Lesson: my son got right on the bike to ride. He rode figure 8s in the parking lot while worked on stopping ( for safety) ....( during this time, my son did take a fall..... my husband and i wanted to run over to help but we stayed back and Frenchie got him through it. He told our son the old saying "pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and let's do it Again". He could see what our son was capable of ..... and showed him. Lastly Our son completed several obstacle courses from the parking lot to sidewalks and back! When he finished his final round ....we cheered him on! Our son was smiling from ear to ear as Frenchie gave him a certificate of completion. I Highly recommend "Frenchie's bike shop" . Frenchie is are knowledgeable, kind, dedicated and one hard working local small business bike shop. They take pride in helping their customers as well as the entire community by teaching bike safety. WORST BICYCLE SHOP EVER, AVOID THIS PLACE. Dishonest, overpriced, insulting, where to begin is the real question...but no question on NEVER PATRONIZE THIS SHOP. Ok, here's the scoop: I walked in thinking "OK it can't be as bad as the Yelp reviews, it must just be lack of local competition and high prices"...but turns out the other reviews are right on the mark, this place is an unbelievably bad experience. When I came into the store,I left out that there was an expensive Cannondale triathlon bike in the car that also needed repair, and brought in a Huffy to test them out. Smart move to do that: the service here is not only incompetent and delivered with a nasty attitude, it is at least THREE TIMES overpriced. They also specialize in the shyster technique of making up problems that don't need to be fixed, along with high-pressure sales just to run up the tab. Full disclosure: I know a lot about bikes, and ride them in races, so was not too gullible when pitched bogus repairs. I did laugh when the obnoxious store owner tried to tell me how the wheels might fall off of the $100 knock-about-town Huffy if I didn't follow his advice and get $300 of repairs. I did NOT laugh when he got insulting about me just telling him to repair the flat. When he said "well if you don't do everything I recommend I can't guarantee the work" I thought to myself "that's the beauty of a credit card chargeback if needed..." I was just curious given the behavior above, so when they returned the bike, I pulled back the wheel (should have just changed the flat myself, this is what I get for my laziness) to see what sort of parts they used and to verify they were new. Guess what, unbelievably it was NOT new, but a used inner tube, and Walmart's store brand. They charged $20 for "new inner tube parts" but installed a 50 cent used Goodwill tube. I guess they think their customers are that stupid. No wonder I had to ask twice for a receipt. Not only are they dishonest, they are even too lazy to spray WD40 on the gears. With this bunch it probably would have been used cooking oil anyway, so maybe just as well. Aside from the wildly overpriced service, the rampant dishonesty, the high-pressure sales techniques and the obnoxious staff, the location for the shop is also a drawback. The store is hard to find in the back corner of a semi-abandoned shopping plaza. Early in the day, there will be quite a few aggressive homeless folks on the way from car to store entrance. Once inside, the store literally stinks from two large parrots that roam freely and poop directly on the floor and behind the counter. It seems to have not been cleaned up for at least a week, and possibly never. The birds and a resident cat in the store all seemed in disturbingly poor health, enough so that I thought of calling the ASPCA. Obviously I'll never go back to the place. I will never ever come back to this store! I had recently purchased a Trek bike from the Trek bicycle store in Sunrise (great store by the way) and wanted to get a rack for the back of my bike and a bell. Since this place was the same distance as the Trek store from my house I thought I would check it out. Big mistake!!! From the moment I walked into the store I felt unwelcome and harassed. The man who appeared to be the owner immediately struck up a conversation with me. He looked at the mirror on my bike and told me that I should've never gotten it because it was glass and would break if the bike fell over. He then wanted to know where I got the bike and how much I paid for it. He also kept touting how great his store was and how it was better than all the rest. When I asked him about the bike racks he showed me a waaaayyyy overpriced one and then told me it was $25 to install it (took about 15 minutes to install)!!! I should've just walked out the door at this point but stupid me, I really wanted to have the rack that day and didn't feel like going to another store (which I should've). While the guy was finishing putting on the bell that I selected (which was also overpriced) I asked why there wasn't a rubber piece to go under the metal part that attaches the bell to the handlebars. The guy immediately said it doesn't come with one and barked at me to let him just do his job (over the years I have bought a lot of accessories and normally items like this have a rubber piece so as not to scratch the metal on the bike). A few minutes prior to this altercation the owner had told me how he treats their customers like family. Ha!!! Yeah, right!!! While I was putting my bike onto my car's bike rack the guy who worked on my bike came up to me and apologized. I appreciate him doing that, but I will NEVER return. read more

We had a great experience. About 5 years ago he taught my oldest how to ride a bike.. recently I adopted 2 children and took them there to learn. The owner teaches the lessons & he is a very nice patient man. The bikes in his shop are not Walmart brand so expect to pay more. The quality of bike sold is excellent. My oldest still has the bike purchased and we plan to purchase with him again. His personality may not be for everyone but there is NO one more knowledgable about bikes then him. When we walked in we were greeted and asked to wait while he finished up something. TWO more customers came in while we were browsing and he assisted them.
