Fillet of Fresh Atlantic Hake with Braised Carrots in a Caper and Herb Butter
    Jeff P.

Came at 1930 on a Saturday night without a reservation. They let us eat at the small bar when you walk in. Started with the escargot in garlic butter. They were a tad small but very flavorful. Followed by the Seven Hour Shoulder of Lamb, Smoked Bacon & Red Wine Jus, Creamed Potatoes, which was fantastic. The entire dish was fork tender. My wife had the Fillet of Fresh Atlantic Hake with Braised Carrots in a Caper and Herb Butter which she really enjoyed. Capped the meal off by splitting the Crêpe with Apples, Caramel Sauce, Crunchy Almonds, Vanilla Ice-cream. The staff was extremely responsive and friendly. All in all an excellent meal; highly recommend!

The Earl of Thomond Restaurant - Soufflé

    The Earl of Thomond Restaurant

Dinner at a castle?…read more I mean. Yes, please. On a recent trip to Ireland we booked a night at Dromoland Castle. They have a special 'experience Dromoland' deal where for one price you can enjoy a night's accommodations, dinner at The Earl of Thomond Restaurant, and a full Irish breakfast the following morning. So, we booked that deal in order to enjoy the full castle experience. Dinner at The Earl of Thomond Restaurant was most certainly a highlight. The dining room is what you might expect from a castle dining room--white table cloths, ornate wallpaper, chandeliers, and candles. The service throughout our experience was impeccable. We began with cocktails. They have an extensive wine list, but if we can--we opt for cocktails. One of our servers mentioned that they have a wonderful mixologist and if we have any cocktail questions to please ask. I conveyed that I prefer spirit forward whiskey cocktails and he pointed me in exactly the right direction. The resulting cocktail was lovely. They brought us a bread basket where we were able to choose which bread we'd like with our dinner. I opted for the brown bread (seriously solid choice, nutty and hearty) and the focaccia (decadent). They then brought us an amuse bouche that was the perfect bite of culinary artistry to begin our experience. For my main, I got their seared scallops. They had the perfect sear and were drizzled with a buttery sauce and topped with microgreens--divine. For dessert, I got their white chocolate mousse which was the perfect sweet treat to end an otherwise wonderful dining experience. It's the perfect special occasion experience. Get to it!

The restaurant is lovely with excellent service and great food, and we enjoyed a talented harpist play during our meal. Firstly, the atmosphere is very romantic with the live music, beautiful castle entrance and decor, and intimate dining room. Our server was spectacular and helpful with ordering gluten-free for me. We loved the cocktail list and how gorgeous the drinks were presented. The cocktail list is named after tarot cards, which was really fun. Appetizers are great and presented with the finest details. The scallops were a favorite. For dinner, my sirloin was perfectly cooked, and the guinea fowl were highlights. We had dessert drinks and toasted champagne to our friends who got engaged that night, and we really appreciated the staff helping to make the surprise perfect for the sweet future bride. Overall, it was a magical night with excellent food, top-notch service, and a fairytale setting.
