Years ago, we were unable to use our own caterers without a lot of negotiation, additional costs and proof of insurance, not to mention covering the costs of the caterers transportation (which we offered to do). The staff over a decade ago felt impersonal and stand-offish, unfriendly and not wishing to be bothered by confirming reservations, nor addressing any questions we had in regards to our wedding day and the property. I hope things have gotten better, and that the people one works with now are more communicative, friendly and happy/willing to help.

Andrea was awesome, providing umbrellas for the wedding for the quick storm that passed through during the ceremony; she bartended when one could not be found; and even quickly responded to a spill on the dance floor. After searching and searching I literally was about to give up and just elope, but then I came across Kingston House. We managed to snag the last summer weekend that would work for our schedules and I am so, so happy it worked out. As a wedding venue: The venue was everything I'd hoped for. The property is enormous, lush, and well cared for. There are so many beautiful little areas that each have their own feel. From fields, to a huge pond, to forest, to gardens, you name it. I loved how people could explore and enjoy the day without feeling squeezed into a small space or told they can't roam. It was really important to us that our guests would feel comfortable, and they did! We had a beautiful early summer day so we could go with our Plan A option of having our ceremony in front of the pond and the reception up above. But Matt has some great alternatives that would work if the weather is bad. This was a big anxiety reliever for me because of course the weather here is unpredictable. I knew that even if it rained, we'd have a beautiful spot for both the ceremony and reception. The location: Kingston was a perfect spot for us. We had a lot of people coming from Seattle and Bellingham, and a good group flying in, as well. Kingston is the perfect distance to feel sort of like a destination without actually requiring a huge trip for people. Our guests could drive home if they wanted, or rent a property nearby (there are LOTS of options). And of course, adding a ferry ride is fun! As long as you and your guests know how to plan for it, that is. I was relieved that none of our guests misjudged the timing and everyone made it there when they should. The driving directions were also super easy to follow, so no one got lost. And Matt's team was there to help guide our guests into the property and find the best place to park. The house: I mean, the HOUSE! We stayed Thursday night just the two of us (highly recommend) and then both of our immediate families stayed with us Friday and Saturday nights. There was plenty of room for everyone. But honestly this house was freaking magical. Every square inch was beautiful, styled to perfection, comfortable, and full of history and character. Matt has an excellent eye and has filled the home with interesting and super aesthetic furniture, art, and knick knacks. And then of course it's perfectly stocked and comfortable, and had everything we needed and more. It's such a gift that we can also go back to Kingston House someday since he rents it on Airbnb. We're planning to come back for sure, and hopefully make it a family tradition. Matt: Matt was so great to work with. Responsive and communicative, helpful, and so committed to making your day/weekend perfect. He really knows how to host a wedding and has clearly done this many times. He brought a wonderful level of calm to the weekend and has incredible attention to detail. He puts so much thought and care into the home and property, you can tell he takes pride in it. And he should! We loved working with Matt and look forward to seeing him again someday when we come back. Also he has a very cute dog, bonus points!

The wedding was scheduled for mid-May and Mother Nature threw us a very last-minute curve ball. Matt and his staff jumped into action to move the ceremony spot to the "In case of rain" location. As the evening went on, it got colder than expected and once again, Matt and crew jumped into action to get the heaters up and running without the guests ever noticing. Everyone had a great time. The wedding party had a gorgeous and comfortable place to stay for two nights. We could not have asked for anything more. We highly recommend Kingston House!!

Weddings in Woodinville is a really fun wedding show. You should trust me because I've been there…read morethree times! It takes place every year on the last Sunday in January. The regular tickets for 2019 were $50 each, but they also had early bird tickets for $40. This event always sells out, so buy your tickets early! For 2019 they chose seven venues in Woodinville: Chateau Lill, Columbia Winery, Hollywood Schoolhouse, JM Cellars, Novelty Hill Januik, Willows Lodge, and The Woodhouse Wine Estates. They also featured seven different wedding planners. Basically, each planner coordinates a "wedding" at their venue. Each place has a theme, wedding colors, flowers, a DJ or live entertainment, a photobooth, a caterer, and a dessert vendor. They also have other things like wedding dresses, menswear, hair/makeup artists, jewelry, etc. Since the entire place is fully decorated, you feel the ambiance of a real wedding. All of the vendors involved will be on site, so you can talk to them in person. At the beginning of the event, you park at The Woodhouse Wine Estates. Registration takes place inside a big tent in the parking lot. You can register anytime between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM, but the actual tour takes place between 12 PM and 5 PM. You will get a large burlap tote bag to hold your stuff and a small notepad to take notes. Since there are seven different venues, they provide luxury shuttles as transportation (Butler Seattle). The shuttles are very comfortable (you can stand up in them!) and the drivers are really nice. Each one holds about 20 people and they run every few minutes. You can stay at each place as long (or as little) as you like, but they recommend spending at least 30 minutes at each location. Weddings in Woodinville is a like a real life Pinterest board! You will definitely get some cool wedding inspo by attending this event. Plus, it is incredibly valuable to talk to the vendors in person instead of e-mailing them questions back and forth. It is so much better to see their work in real life, instead of just looking at pictures on their website. This event feels unique every year because they get different wedding planners each time. They usually show a variety of wedding styles and have vendors for all types of budgets. Even though this event takes place in Woodinville, most of the vendors involved will do weddings all over the Pacific Northwest. Lastly, you get plenty of delicious free food here (appetizers, wine, desserts), so it is impossible to leave hungry. :-)

It truly felt like they were guiding us through the planning, not just hosting the event. The venue itself is stunning. If you've browsed their website, you already know how beautiful it is--but seeing it in person is something else. We saw our guests taking photos near the fountain and in the valley with the mountains creating the perfect summer backdrop. What really stood out, though, was the food and service. One of our aunts came over to our sweetheart table during dinner just to rave about the meal--the London Broil was perfectly tender, and the salmon was flavorful (and most importantly, not dry). They even made sure our vegetarian guests were well taken care of, which we deeply appreciated. Since most of our décor was DIY, we were a bit anxious about setup while still trying to stay relaxed on the big day. LHF made it easy. They had linens ready early and guided our families on where to place everything. The floor managers even stopped by while we were getting ready to introduce themselves and let us know they were available for anything we needed. I knew right away she had fallen in love with Lord Hill Farms (LHF). And this was just us entering the reception hall. LHF properties and gardens are nothing short of exquisite. Walking thru the grounds it almost feels like Tuscan gardens. Views of the cascades. Small lakes and water fountains. The grass is beautifully green and the outdoor ceremony location has a beautiful spot over look g the lake on property and an arbor you just need to decorate. The building has a very well maintained and sexy masculine grooms room. With a. At broom on that side to keep him away from the bride. The brides room is bright and elegant with gigantic mirrors & great lighting for the ladies to get their hair and make up done. The reception are has several cozy "loungey" areas for you to sit and chat. One has a fireplace too. The bar is ample and nice but also not in your face so it doesn't take away from the venue or decor. They have chandeliers and twinkle lights already available and beautiful white drapery that makes this venue both magical and elegant at the same time. The indoor ceremony location is very nice. One of the benefits of this being ur is it can accommodate a large even. We expected 300. So when you enter the space you have beautiful pillars available to you, gold chevalier chairs lining the ceremony hall and a beautiful walk way to the stage. We rented and added the white drapes for the big reveal of the bride entering and it just made the space dreamy. The windows allow for a nice view of the outdoor grounds. The one caveat: make note of the sunset time and where the sun will be at the time of your ceremony. It was back lit so very difficult to see the bride, groom, wedding party and their faces as they were silhouetted. That was one big negative. We didn't know so we're t able to rent lighting or prep our photographer to prepare. Still waiting on pics, so hopeful that she was still able to shoot well given the challenging lighting situation. We did chose to have an indoor wedding ceremony because may is generally cold and wet. Who knew we had the most beautiful weather. The other nice thing is the venue does have audio equipment for both ceremony and reception hall. Food: with a large wedding event we went with their pasta bar. This is not basic. The chef honestly prepares a very flavorful well presented pasta bar. I am a total foodie and was expecting basic at the food tasting but it was far from that. In fact the food rating made us feel so special. The team at LHF do not leave any details out so you feel like you're popping in on someone's event. Everything from appetizers to dessert and wine. One miss is we had many gluten free guests and the team forgot to put a sign out for GF guests to request their plate so there was some confusion for many of those guests. So that was a call out I made note for the venue. It would have minimized confusion and hurt feelings. The reception hall: round and rectangular tables are available. They'll help work a nice floor plan for you. There is plenty of great lighting. A nice set up for dessert, coffee and tea, bar, DJ and areas for Photo Booth etc. we used round tables. Which also have the hood chavalier seats. When we arrived for set up, all our tables were ready for us to set up. They had white linens and silverware in pace. We opted to bring our own napkins, runners and did our own decor and it was beautiful! One note: they've change policies on lot candle/tapers, even if they are dripless. Unfortunately, we didn't find out until the day of. Which means I now have several hundred new and very expensive dripless candles I can't send back. So get yourself battery operated or candles that are IN. Container that covers the tip of the candle. I understand why, and tracy was kind enough to explain what had happened a couple weeks earlier. Unfortunately it's one bad experience that messes it up for the others. So keep that in mind if you want actual kit candles hey a full container for each one so you can have the candle lit vibe. Staff. In General the staff was very attentive, helpful and friendly. We had a couple little hiccups w a couple of their younger staff. But hole it up to youth and new work experience. Tracy and team were very receptive to the feedback. Pricing. Very reasonable for a full service. A venue that runs you 6k is not apples to apples. Be careful as you compare what you get. The Chapel is over 100 years old and located up high on a hill with a beautiful view overlooking the Snohomish valley and downtown Everett. The grounds are gorgeous with lush landscaping and something to see everywhere you look. The best part of the venue, in my opinion, is that it can be held indoor or outdoor. On my wedding day we hoped for an outdoor ceremony but were able to easily move the ceremony indoors once we saw the rain was not giving up. We moved indoor for the ceremony but the rain broke and we were still able to have the reception outdoors. Lynn, the owner of the Chapel, seriously took the weight off of me in helping figure out all of the details in planning and she took lead on the day of. The first time I went to the chapel to meet with Lynn I was overwhelmed and after leaving I felt like things were making sense and everything was under control. Lynn even recommended our pastor, Reuben Sapien, whom everyone loved. She was able to provide all of the linens on site and even provided staff to help throughout the wedding day and (which was huge) a cleanup crew so we did not have to worry about that. If you are searching for a venue, take the time to meet with Lynn and tour the property yourself and you will see the care that goes into planning your day and into the property to make it special.

We loved it and appreciate all the memories. We choose this chapel for its incredible beauty, all inclusivity equipment, beautiful location and budget. We wanted to spend less time on things like decor and setting up tables/av, and more time with our loved ones. Best pros which saved us a ton of time and funds. 1) No decor needed - the chapel is already gorgeous, and so is the exterior if you want some photos/videos 2) Equipment included - mics, av, stand, chairs, check-in tables, table cloths, brooms, changing rooms, table cloths, etc. 3) Amazing floor space and acoustics: We had lots of bollywood style dancing and performances so floor space and acoustics were important! 4) Serene - In the middle of a state park (perfect for fall, winter or summer) Free parking for all your guests! 5) Someone on sight to help ensure things run smoothly (note, this is a staff member, and not a wedding coordinator or technician) 6) Fits up to 200+ people do you don't have to compromise on the guestlist. We only had around 80 max to keep it intimate as we wanted to interact with everyone. 7) Affordable price - We would probably not have had a wedding if venue prices were any higher! Honestly this is a great deal. Cons: - Strict no food policy, though the cafeteria is right. I wish they allowed us to at least serve cake/dessert outside within the time frame as it's a cultural tradition. We brought water bottles for our guests. Instead of a traditional ceremony followed by reception, we had an intimate party the day prior at our apartment lounge with food. Cost as of 10/2019 is $1400 for summer-Oct, and $1100 for winter months. $250 deposit. This was one of the best prices when we were shopping around. Alternatives were community centers but they required us to do all the setup and decor, which we didn't want to burden our loved ones with. Pam Vaughn, the events coordinator there was a pleasure to work with. They were very accommodating to us regarding our budget and the whole thing went off pretty seamlessly. A couple of perks about Bastyr: - The chapel is huge and gorgeous - if you like traditional European style churches, you will love their chapel! - They've started doing receptions there also and the food is top notch. They grow a lot of things locally on their grounds and supplement by buying things locally, so everything is excellect quality. We had a chicken dish and their vegetarian lasagna and had nothing but glowing reviews from all of our guests. - Compared to a lot of places I priced out, they are very affordable. Having a wedding officiating business as well, I will definitely be referring Bastyr to my brides.
