Now, you can get the same thing done at Newark Farmers Market! They are conveniently located and you can shop at Costco or the Farmers market while you wait. They have a small booth that is easy to find and have two tables packed with different sharpening equipment. We brought 4 knives, kitchen scissors, and even an axe. The cost was very low with the highest priced items being the axe and scissors for $10 each. When we got home just now my wife said "whoo, these are sharp!" The edges are amazing on everything we had sharpened and I don't doubt for a second I could cut razor thin slices of tomato using the axe. We used one of our newly sharpened kitchen knives to slice a farmers market tomato and there is a strangely satisfying feeling to drag your knife gently across and cut super thin slices. In addition to knives, scissors, and axes when we arrived we also saw a Leatherman multitools knife being sharpened so you can bring almost anything with a cutting edge and get it sharpened. A guy came to our building and sharpened all my knives from his car. It took about half hour. I did the paper test and all of the cut through it smoothly. Highly recommend!

For the hair cutting scissors it cost $32. It was well worth the money to be able to preserve this really nice set and not get some cheap garbage replacement at the store. William's mother greeted me, took my knives, and reminded me of the price range per knife. On Friday morning, I got a text that my knives were ready and confirming the final price. Pick up was quick and easy, and the knives are well sharpened. Two of my knives are polished to a shiny finish, and William was able to maintain that shine. The knives cut so much better now, and I'm sure I'll be back in the future. A few notes - the gate to the backyard is in the cul de sac (not the main street that the front door is on), so when you send the text letting them know that you've arrived, they'll meet you at that side gate. They only accept cash or Venmo. They don't give you the final price or pickup time until the work is done, I think because William needs to assess the knives. The price felt fair to me given the quality of work, just something to be aware of!

He was able to put a new edge on my serrated bread knife that previously wouldn't cut! Haven't tried it yet but it looks brand new. Pricing might be considered a little high but when you consider he comes to you, and you don't have to send your knives out to the manufacturer, and they are ready in minutes, worth it!
