Having had some minor experience with shipping, I was wondering if anyone offered a pallet rate, as that would bring the cost down significantly. ShipCanada was like manna from Heaven, as their quote to ship all our personal possessions was just 1/5 of lowest quote offered to us from the other shippers/movers. ShipCanada arranged everything within a day of contact, and our pallets were picked up on time, with the driver giving us a half-hour notification of his arrival. It took two weeks for our pallets to be shipped from the Sunshine Coast in BC, to the Atlantic Coast on PEI. Just one of our items sustained a small amount of damage (truly unavoidable when shipping in bulk over very large distances ), but having heard a few horror stories from others about all the damage that occurred to their possessions when they hired "professional" movers at 7.5 times the price, I was extremely pleased with our outcome. I'd like to address some of the statements made by the individuals who left low reviews. - Pack everything with Sod's Law in mind. - ShipCanada isn't a shipping company with a fleet of trucks; it's a shipping broker. - If you are shipping valuable items, have them insured beforehand. - Arrival and delivery times are approximations, but from our two experiences, the pick-up and delivery times were spot on. - As a small businessman who does a great deal of shipping/receiving, I can confirm that shipping items through any carrier entails risk. The more items sent, the larger the distance, and the higher the value of the items, equates to the acceptance of a monumental level of risk, and you can comfortably assume that something will go wrong with so many variables wildly beyond your control. From my experience, I was extremely pleased that all of our pallets arrived safely after a 5700km journey, that the task was accomplished with a minimum outlay of money, and that only one cabinet sustained a small amount of damage.

My previous phone, the 8 Pro, started losing its charge rapidly within the last couple of months. Bummer, as I loved that phone that was over two years old. I ordered my new phone from the Google Store. I got an estimated shipping date. Shipping this phone to my home required a signature. It makes sense. It's an expensive device. Phones aren't cheap! My shipment was scheduled for Tuesday, April 7. Great! On this Tuesday, I got an e-mail saying that my shipment would be delivered on Wednesday, April 8. A day later would have been okay, except that I'd be at work. There was no way for me to change the delivery to my local UPS store. After having lunch at home on Tuesday, I checked my inbox and I got a UPS message saying that my order was delivered. I was home on Tuesday for the entire day. The UPS person neither knocked, nor rang the doorbell. The instructions say to get a signature. The UPS person placed the box on my doorstep and left. My phone was out in the elements for nearly two hours. Not cool. I got a store credit from Google. The funds were enough to get a pair of Google Pixel Buds 2a, which are the budget-friendly earbuds that supposedly fit better in your ears. I typically don't do well with such types of earbuds. It was UPS delivery again. No signature was required this time. No change of date. Nice! I wasn't home when the delivery happened on Monday, April 13. The package was left on my doorstep. It was raining that day. It wasn't off to the side of my doorstep, away from the rain. It wasn't placed in my mailbox on the side. It was placed directly in the rain. I called my dad and asked if he could swing by after my parents were done having lunch to pick up my wet box. He did, thank goodness! UPS is the lesser of the two evils when you put Purolator in the mix. UPS delivers. It simply leaves packages out in the open for potential porch thieves to swoop in and take them. UPS drivers can neither read, nor use their frail arms. My first package said that it required a signature from me. I never signed for the package. It was left on my step without ringing the doorbell or knocking on my door. Pitiful. I would have been upset if someone had stolen both my deliveries from my doorstep. I'm pleased that my earbuds were dry after the box containing them was left in the rain. Such a dumb move on the UPS driver's part. I pass by this UPS location weekly when I'm driving home from work. It's across from York University. Decent location. However, I feel that a refresher course on what it means to deliver a package that requires a signature is in order. (164)

Recently I wanted my vintage Nakamichi cassette deck repaired. I found a Nakamichi technician in…read moreMichigan, USA who offered to do the repair. I spoke to him and sent my deck across the border to him through Canada Post. He did the repair and sent the deck back to me via UPS. I soon after received notice that they would be delivering my deck but there was a border fee of $209. This sounded high to me so I contacted Canada Customs and explained the details of this shipment. They informed me that my border fee should be $93 and that they constantly received complaint about UPS of the same nature as my complaint. They informed me that I could do a 'self clearance' of the parcel by coming into their office in Malton and paying the $93 and receive a Proof of Payment document to take to UPS to have my parcel released. I then contacted UPS and let them know that I had contacted Canada Customs with concerns over the high fees. In short, they was very reluctant but did admit (after a 20 minute conversation/argument) that they had indeed over-charged me and I did only owned $93. I think it had something to do with the fact that I let them know that I was considering taking legal action against UPS over this. Spitefully, they informed me that they would not deliver my deck until I went to the customs office to get the Proof of Payment document, then scan and email a copy to them. I did that. It was a 4 and a half hour trip to do that I emailed them this Proof of Payment document and received a response from them. They informed me that it would take 24 hours to process my request after which time they would deliver my deck. I am still waiting for my package! I also believe this is likely a directive from their head office to add addition fees to all deliveries. I can't believe that is just my local UPS outlet that is perpetuating this fraud. My fear is that is nationwide. Let's face it, when a UPS delivery guy comes to your door with a package and wants a border fee, most will automatically pay what they ask not knowing they are likely being gouged. They just want their package. I certainly have been telling all my friends and family of this ordeal, strongly suggesting they never patronize UPS. I also considered making a video of complaint to post on YouTube. Avoid UPS like the plague!

Simple, clear, and quick. However, over the last few months, this experience has drastically changed. I'm still returning packages using QR codes, but the purolator workers give me conflicting information every time (separate occasions) I'm there. One tells me I have to use the machine and select "my package is ready to ship", another tells me to select "print label", another tells me she can't help me with my return because the machine deals with it. One tells me that the machine is only for prepaid label returns and I have to line up to return my QR code returns. The cherry on top is that the front desk workers are also RUDE! They treat customers like an inconvenience while also giving them confusing, conflicting information. It sounds like they're either not being properly trained, or they can't be bothered to do their job. My experience here used to be great; no problems, no confusion, and a pleasant experience. I don't know what changed. I'm never coming back here again.

Every time I schedule a pick up I tell them exactly what they are picking up ..what the dimensions are and how heavy it is and every time they show up and refuse to take it citing various reasons such as no room in the truck or they didn't know what they were picking up or they don't have the right equipment. At the end of the day I'm now out over $4000 because Walmart won't process my refund until the item has been shipped back to the warehouse ...I have reported Walmart to the BBB. They also don't wear masks when they come to pick items up which is kind of unbelievable given there's a pandemic raging right now. Will be reporting to BBB. Disgusting Customer Service and they hire lazy careless people.
