I was told I needed to schedule a 30-minute appointment and that it would cost $100 just to ask a question. What I believed was a straightforward question about my car stereo. Instead, I discovered that at Freeman, even curiosity carries a $100 price tag. That was unexpected. What was disappointing was the immediate leap to a fee before anyone assessed whether the issue might be simple, minor, or something that could be clarified with a brief professional glance. There was no attempt at guidance -- only a transaction waiting to happen. Businesses build loyalty through service, not surprise charges. A quick moment of helpful insight can create a long-term customer. A $100 gatekeeping fee tends to do the opposite. The name on the building suggests openness. The experience suggested something else. You may want to reflect on how first interactions are handled. Word of mouth is powerful -- especially when it involves expectations versus reality. I understand businesses charge for labor, but there was no effort to offer basic guidance or determine whether the issue was minor. The interaction felt transactional rather than service-oriented. As someone who supports local businesses, I expected a willingness to at least assess the concern before quoting a fee. This experience left me feeling that customer service is secondary to revenue. My 2018 Lexus RX450h did not come with Apple CarPlay. I called Freeman's to see if they had an after market kit that can be installed. Fortunately for me, they did. I made an appointment with Ronnie and they had it installed in a couple of hours. Wes did the install and he was great. There was a hiccup in programming the new install, but Wes never gave up and got it resolved. Although the aftermarket doesn't use touch screen (use factory mouse), Apple CarPlay does work very well. I can even toggle back and forth to the OEM screen and Apple CarPlay. If you are looking for an aftermarket Apple CarPlay or Android, the folks at Freeman's can hook you up. read more

Had them install my tires subwoofer was told it would be done within 1 to two hours came in at 9:30am didn't get out until 3:30pm on top of that whenever they got done I had to come back because my left side of my speakers stopped working , the speakers were working before they started working on my car nothing could be done to fix it , was told it might be the radio and would like to send it to see if anything is wrong with it but I didn't have the time , on top of this as well they scratched my glass on my radio knops read more

We went back the next day, after he had gotten all the parts he needed and Shawn installed the equipment. I highly recommend Freeman's. They were able to fit us in to their schedule and get our car stereo issue diagnosed and corrected very quick and at a reasonable price. They also were able to provide many options for having multiple video inputs and options for modifying the dash for a double din stereo. Many GM vehicles only have enough room for 1 or 1.5. I don't typically write a review but I am so frustrated with them. I've yet to get a straight answer going on a month now, or more, since we initially talked to them about doing the radio repair on our car. They pulled the radio out, looked at it and said they'll call us back with more info. That was last week. I had to call them today myself. The guy acted as if he was clueless regarding the status, yet we've talked to him several times. We've been in in person 3 times. We explained the issue. Its in their system. Yet the same guy who we've been dealing with acted like he didn't know what was going on. I'm just annoyed at this point. Can you fix it and/or replace it or not??? I just want a straight answer. We just want it fixed. Period! We'll be using a different place going forward. Never again. Not professional. Zero follow up. read more

Had appointment for 9am and waited. At 11:50 I had to inquire about my car as to how much longer it will take. I was told not sure because the tech had everything installed but was getting no sound. I told them I needed to be gone no later than 12:30. By 12:10 it was agreed to put my factory stereo back in because I was not paying for something that was not working. So now, I'm waiting on my $300 deposit. I did go elsewhere (Car Stereo Warehouse on E. independence Blvd) got the same brand stereo for less money and installed correctly with sound that did not take quite an hour. Please improve with communicating with your customers especially if they are waiting on their vehicles and there are issues!!!!! Will not be using Freeman's at all especially that Gastonia location! read more

I have never had this much trouble with Freeman's Car Stereo. I needed warranty work on a Dash Camera. The day they sent it back, Ronnie told me he should have a new replacement camera within 5 to 7 day. When I asked for a receipt he told me" I don't give out receipts for warranty work" I told him that it's only right too give me a receipt to show has my camera. A long story short, He finally gave me a receipt. (Under Protest) then he stated "We don't do business this way but I will give you one this time". About 4 weeks later, the new camera FINALLY showed up. I asked the clerk to reinstall the camera back into my vehicle. The clerk assured me that the camera and all its components were working correctly. Before leaving the parking lot, I checked. Guess what,THE REAR CAMERA WAS NOT WORKING. NOW I HAVE TOO SPEND MORE TIME IN THE REPAIR SHOP WAITING AGAIN!!! read more

I had speakers installed at the Gastonia. Whenever I rolled down my driver's side window, the speaker started crackling. I returned my truck to the same Gastonia location, I was told by Ronnie that it would be the following week before they could look at it, and he offered no other solution. I called corporate and had to drive to South boulevard to get it fixed. South boulevard said it was a live wire scraping against the window regulator and had it fixed with 5 minutes. I will never go to the Gastonia store again because of the incompetence of the store manager Ronnie. read more

The installations for both of the audio systems I had done at Freeman's were great. Everything looked clean and neat with no problems at all. The time period was reasonable for installation too. I was able to have the system put in within two weeks of when I ordered the parts from them. The prices seem fair and are better than local rivals as well.
