This is the guilty pleasure of everyone in town. They make everything, and everything is AMAZING. I must say that the cookie monsters are my favorite, but I will not turn down anything you offer me from here. They also have GREAT Parker house rolls and Cheese bread. They open early, (7am) and if you want a breakfast pastry I recommend you get there early.... But like I said they do everything. Breakfast Yummies, Cookies, Cakes, Breads, etc. Most days if you go around 10:30am (except Saturday) you will have a good non picked over selection of everything. read more

So much for my Keto diet! I don't know why we haven't visited here in the past other than acknowledging the effect of bakery desserts on my body. But when a special splurge or uncontrollable sweet craving sets in, Freeman's bakery is just the place to go. The pastries all taste fresh with quality ingredients. I would not hesitate to recommend Freeman's to anyone. The only downside to this discovery is the overwhelming temptation to make repeat visits! read more

Absolutely one of the best places in Florence Area to purchase a cake. There are several places around but I have always used Freeman's for my cake needs. You can't go wrong here. Try one today! read more

Freeman's is great they have good customer service and the sweets are amazing it's not 5 stars it's 15 stars

We picked up two pound cakes and they were delicious. The blueberry pound cake is very soft and full of blueberries (it was our favorite) and the other was the cinnamon pound cake which we enjoyed but was very messy to eat but I would get it again. The store is very clean and I went at an off time and it was very busy. Definitely will be back! read more

There is a lot to choose from. All sweets, not really breads. But u can buy individual pieces of sweets so everyone gets what they want and u don't have half a cake sitting in the frig for a week. I tried the napoleons. Omg! So good! read more

This place is Great! Went here based on reviews and didn't disappoint. The donuts are decent but the fried croissants and the cheese danishes are Amazing! read more

Absolutely the best bakery that I have ever had the pleasure of trying. My favorite is the white cake with the normal type icing. Try it. You will not be disappointed!! read more

Why try to make a homemade cake when this bakery's cakes taste as good or better?

There are a thousand wonderful things to be had here. It's very dangerous for your waistline...

I love Freeman's Bakery! We drop by to pick cookies, doughnuts, etc just as a fun snack with my daughter and we also use them to send "thank you" gifts to our merchants. This has always been a crowd pleaser! The pound cake we had for one of our Christmas parties was so delicious people stayed standing at the counter and just kept eating little cubes of it all evening (Bobby -lol)! I am not sure about Linda G.s experience, but this has never been mine, and I do not think they would be in business for SOOOOOOOO many years, if that were the case! Thank you to Freeman's for being a DELICIOUS place to get sweets! ---Nicole G. read more

I would not recommend this bakery for special cakes. I used them for my daughters birthday, and the cake was dry and not good at all. My guest told me I should've never used them.......!!!! Now I know. So I'm telling you my experience so you will know!!!!!' read more

I have passed this place while visiting Florence, SC many times. Today I decided to stop in. Great selection and friendly staff!!! Nice to go to a local bakery that is not a chain... read more

Came here today after a trip upstate. It's like 10 minutes off HWY 17 and I want to make it a stop next time I'm traveling north 17!! Charleston has no bakeries! This bakery reminded me of long island the moment I stepped into it and breathed in the powdered sugar and cookie scented air. There's a huge variety of cookies, pastries, cupcakes, and frosted cakes like vanilla and caramel. I got an assortment of cookies, my favorite thing being the butterscotch brownie, mmm. read more

Freeman's Bakery is at the top of our list! Wonderful and helpful staff. These wonderful people came to our "Art Smart" Camp for school aged children at First Presbyterian Church this summer and did a remarkable job teaching the children the beginning art of "cake decorating". I can not say enough good things about them! Walking in to their store is heaven! It even SMELLS yummy! read more

Nice bakery with a wide variety. Really good donuts. The prices are very reasonable. There is a gift shop attached to it. There are a few tables in the bakery, which is a nice touch. I would come back here if I'm in the area. read more

Consistently great baked treats.

Freeman's Bakery is the ABSOLUTE BEST!!! I am proud to say that I am a Florence, SC native that has moved to New York City. I called Freeman's Bakery today and ask them to deliver a Birthday Cake to my daughter, as today is her birthday. The young lady over the phone was very patient and gave me exceptional cutomer service. To top it all off, the manager of the bakery delivered the cake to my daughter today and she was very pleased! It is very rare to find an oganization that set such a standard in service excellence. Thank you Freeman's Bakery and Staff, and to the manager a very Blessed and Happy Birthday to you!!!!!! :)))) read more

I've had much better cakes from grocery stores, other bakeries. Unfortunately, there are few actual "bakeries" in town. Recently had Freeman's birthday cake at a party. It was very dry, compared to a homemade cake made by a fried, which had piles of icing & literally melted in my mouth. The crumbs on Freeman's cakes are dry too. Cheese danishes need more sugar & actual cheese filling. Having traveled, Freeman's assortment is just OK- portion sizes of desserts are small & not cheap. Quality isn't what you'd find if you travel, say to the beach, or Charleston for example. If you're visiting or have moved here lately, you may be disappointed. Recently at Charlotte Airport, I found treats that were AMAZING. For example, a giant croissant filled with almond paste, crumb cakes with mounds of melt-in-your-mouth crumbs & huge bagels that were tasty & irresistible. The price was quite fair considering the quality & size you got- & we're talking "airport food." I gave up on Florence bakeries & order hard rolls/bagels from a company in NY which come frozen/vacuum sealed. They are so delicious & worth the shipping cost. The baker should check out any NY bakery site for an idea of what portions should be- & make their products moister. They'd have a line out the door!! read more

If you have any dessert or pastry needs in Florence, there is only one option... Freeman's. Their desserts are to die for and I have never had anything from there that was not delicious. My personal favorites are the bon-bons and German chocolate cups! Chocolate heaven! I also happen to be friends with two of the staff members and they're fantastic and true artists of their craft. If you ever need a cake for your party or event, Freeman's is the place to go! read more

This place is amazing. From savory cheese bread to the peanut butter bar and butter scotch twist. And the staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely go there! read more

This place is really amazing. They have absolutely DELICIOUS sweets. My personal favorite is the Orange Raisin Danish... it sounds unusual, I know, but don't be afraid to try new things here! You won't be disappointed. Their prices are very fair and the staff is quick and friendly, even when things get hectic. They also have a few nick-nack type items such as coffee mugs, magnets, etc to purchase. read more

Being mildly overweight, I've been eating sweets for years. The first time I bit into the Oreo Cake from Freeman's Bakery, I just about died. There are no words for the time and care that goes into the treats that one can buy here at Freeman's Bakery. Locally owned by the saint Miss Ellen, she prides herself in selling quality product, at affordable prices, through the hands of integrity. You will be hard-pressed to find another bakery in South Carolina that bakes from scratch while still being affordable, and personable. At Freeman's Bakery, you're more than a customer, you're you. read more

Love everything here! So fresh and delicious! My clients go crazy for anything from Freeman's. Huge thank you to Lisa for always taking such great care of me and doing it with a smile. read more

Came here years ago and the quality of the baked goods was much better than I recently experienced. Recall this was a true bakery when I was younger and now it looks more like a gift shop and less like a bakery. Pretty clear there was a change in ownership. Not sure how the name stayed the same as I recall it was family owned. Whatever family bought it, sure isn't doing the namesake any favors with what they did to the place. Sad. read more

We owned a beach house for 15 years and drove through Florence hundreds of times. Never knew about Freeman's until the last 5 trips. Our loss - both emotionally and to our waistlines! This is a wonderful "from scratch" bakery - and there are very few left. Everything is excellent, you absolutely cannot go wrong with anything. (Since in 5 visits I probably bought 20 different items, I am certain - LOL) A few tips - you can buy 1/2 cake, nice for smaller families or to have a selection for a larger one. Cookies are pricey but really, really good, (Hubs is first cousin to the Cookie Monster) and the decorated ones are beautiful. Danish and donuts are yummy. Cute gift section and friendly service. If you are traveling along 95, this is maybe 20 minutes off the interstate, and is WORTH IT. But the absolute BEST OF ALL reason to go here is the German Coconut Cake. There simply aren't enough adjectives to describe this cake. Just. Buy. It. read more

Florence is really lucky to have a place like Freeman's Bakery. There may be other bakeries in Florence but I sure don't know about them and after eating here for the past three years don't really care to. This is the go to place in Florence if you need to order a cake for a special occasion. Their basic birthday sheet cake is really good. They will design it the way you want and they process tons of orders everyday based on the amount of cakes they have on the shelf waiting to be picked up. I usually get their cakes when I go. I have had their carrot cake which is very good but a bit too sweet for some people. My favorite is their chocolate fudge cake which I am currently devouring now with a glass of milk. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality of their food. Their cakes are always moist too which is always a big plus in my book. Rarely I will grab a cookie or other treat. I tasted a butterscotch brownie this past weekend which was very good. The staff is always friendly and inviting as well. Can't miss if you have a sweet craving in the FLO or a need a cake. read more

this place is delish!! Must try the apple fritters. The daily made ham biscuits are a must. The staff is always friendly. If you haven't been, try it out. read more

It's probably a good thing that I live an hour from here; if not, I'd be as big as a Buick. Everything is good: my favorites are the cream horns, cinnamon crisps, caramel cake, and the olive spread is great. I can't go to Florence without stopping by Freeman's. read more

I love me some Freemans bakery. I have since I was a child. The cakes, cupcakes, and cookies are amazing. It tends to be on a pricey side, but well worth it. I highly receommend if you have a sweet tooth like me. read more

People are rude. Service is perfunctory at best. Staff is doing you a favor. But I could deal with that if the baked goods were GOOD! The cannolis SUCK. Okay, so maybe they dont know how to make a good cannoli... so I went back because many people said its the best in Florence. I bought an $18 cake. Single layer, decorated beautifully. Brought it to a dinner party and was mortified. The cake part was an inch high. The whole cake was icing. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE-- AND THE BAKED GOODS ARE TERRIBLE!!!! read more
