El Dorado Musical Theater - Something Rotten!

El Dorado Musical Theater

This theater is located in a 30,000 square foot warehouse type building, which has to be so great for the kids and adults who partake in their productions-everything felt so roomy and comfortable-Parking at this location is a breeze, they have their own parking lot so that's a plus. When you arrive on show night after being greeted by the nicest friendliest people at the door checking your tickets, you walk into a snack bar area where they are serving various snacks and drinks where u can get pick up anything from a bag of chips, candy or even an adult beverage-very convenient for those like me who skipped dinner before the show. When you walk into the theater-it is a tad bit cold but they have thought of everything here-the very friendly workers/ushers in the theater offer their patrons blankets they can have at their seats while watching the show, which I felt was so thoughtful. As far as seating goes, they have 3 sections, the center and 2 sides,on this particular night I had tickets on the side but as I learned there really isn't a bad seat in the house,it's designed in such a way that the stage is right on top of you no matter where u sit-so no worries if u don't get 1st few rows center for the show. The production itself is so well written and so well performed by such a talented group of performers-I can tell that this theater truly does put so much time and effort into preparing the performers for show nights that I guarantee you will have an incredible time watching a show out at this really great family friendly theater. In closing-if you ever find yourself out in the El Dorado Hills area and you want to support local theater, which is such an important part of our community,I would fully recommend getting yourself out to El Dorado Musical Theater and catching a show-they are doing really great things out there. PS-Though my daughter is an adult-this theater group has a vast youth program for young performers to partake in musical theater-if your child has ever expressed an interest in performing-get them out there, performing does wonders for building character in our children.

Harris Center/Three Stages - World Ballet Company's Swan Lake at the Harris Center on 2/10/2026

Harris Center/Three Stages

I watched the Swan Lake ballet performed by World Ballet Company at the Harris Center. I felt it…read morewas an overpriced, mediocre performance. I got bored by the sets and dancing quickly. My ticket cost $100 plus a $7 service fee. If you want professional ballet, you have to head to SF Ballet in San Francisco. Harris Center is part of Folsom Lake College, a community college. It's a school auditorium. Rows are narrow. Seats are not that comfy or spacious. It does not compare to the beautiful performing arts theaters in downtown Sacramento or San Francisco. There were two sets of restrooms on the main floor. Not very many stalls in one women's restroom, maybe like 6. I thought this wording on the ticket and parking permit printout was confusing: "Ample parking is located adjacent to the Harris Center facility in Lot D." I guess the Harris Center is located in Lot D because there is definitely not enough parking in Lot D alone. We and many others ended up parking in the much larger nearby Lot C. Passes purchased through campus kiosks are $2. On the map, I saw three Daily Parking Permit kiosks located on College Parkway, the loop around campus. Passes purchased online or through the box office are $3, incurring a $1 administrative fee. If you order online, remember print your parking permit to display on your dashboard. It's good that parking is easy and inexpensive.

This duo has great music, vocals and charisma; they were made to play together. Excellent seating, no bad seats in house (I was seated in 4th row, almost center. Great audio. Excellent friendly docents. Look forward to my next visit at this location.

She's grown so much as a dancer and a person, taking multiple styles of dance along with Baton and being part of the Teen Competition Team. The instructors are amazing -- supportive, talented, and truly care about every student's progress. We highly recommend El Dorado Dance Academy to anyone looking for a place where dancers can thrive, build confidence, and be part of an incredible community.

If you have the opportunity to sign your child up for a class with Amy, do it! She is by far the most patient instructor I have ever seen and she goes out of her way to know every child's name. Which is impressive because the class sizes are large and the roster changes from week-to-week. Remembering you child's name might not be a big deal to you but it means the world to the dancers and it also reflects her passion and attention to detail. She makes every class fun, interactive, and knows how to pivot when children are feeling a bit squirrelly. Amy is a true asset to EDDA North and I hope she is valued as such! I have twin girls and we have taken 6-7 months of ballet with her and I can't rave about her enough

But good news is that the parking fee is temporarily suspended due to COVID. This review is just for the tennis courts.; the Sue Lorimer & Bob Bruns Tennis Complex. The courts were clean and maintained. They have 8 courts that are nicely spaced out and have a 4 feet tall fencing between the side by side courts. Each court has a covered bench. On the weekends, there is campus security present. An emergency blue box call phone is located on the pathway from the parking lot between the courts and running track. Plus monitored cameras. So no funny business. No skateboarding, bicycling, roller skating, picnicking, playing basketball ... other horseplay stuff other than tennis on the courts. The formal rules are posted throughout. Another thing to note is that near the front of court 1, facing the track, is the posting of Folsom Lake College's collegiate tennis schedule. On those game days, the courts are closed to public play. Game. Set. Match.
