You have been accepted as a FLC student! NOT!!

In Feb 2022 completed the registered that would permit me to sign up for classes at Folsom Lake College and it went fine until it was time for FLC to send me an I.D. number to sign up for the actual class. The look up had no number so I sent e-mail, no response. Called and spoke with an admin who said they could not find a number either and that they would look into it and get back to me. Never heard back from them. Classes moved on without me. Very disappointed.

As someone who already graduated from with a Bachelor's recently, coming back to FLC to take classes to fulfill grad school prerequisites, my experience has been...mixed. Granted, I was trying to get into the most popular classes with a low registration priority. In my first semester though, I was able to take a few (unrelated) classes which allowed me to get a better date for the following term. As for the quality of education here, it will never replace a university-level education. You have to keep in mind that many of the people here are not professional students; some are working parents trying to go back to school. Likewise, the school recognizes this and tries to work at a level where the student regardless of background will be able to learn the material but not be obligated to be a library rat. So is it easier than at a university? Yes, but only relatively. Depending on the course, long hours still exist, but that most likely will be due to the amount of information rather level of trickiness. And if you do find yourself struggling, the school offers a FREE tutoring service at their Tutor Center. Most of the tutors there either are overqualified (there's an ex-engineer who helps on all levels of math) or ex-students in a particular subject (ie they can tell you EXACTLY what a specific professor is looking for or going to test you on). I give this place a five star because, besides of all the above reasons, the administration office is waaaaaay easier to work with than the admin from my Alma mater (and that was a private university).

I love this schooI.I work and go to school here. The other students are really nice , and the staff is cool as well.It is a beautiful little campus. I love the views of the hills from the cafeteria. My favorite part of this college is the scheduling for classes. My schedules not all over the place. The atmosphere of the school is very calm and pleasant. Come here if you want a nice community college experience, with no drama.I see the other review had trouble with fasfa and student services but that is something that is in your hands. Do your fasfa early, check in at the financial aid desk periodically to see if they need further info for you and it should all be smooth sailing like it was for me!People who wait until the last minute have trouble I guess, which is expected. Anyways Flc is great :)

Freshly mowed lawn today! Smells good :)

I stopped here to get my first vaccine shot, it was a super easy and pleasant setup, and the process was quick and painless.

Review Highlights - Folsom Lake College

I think that it gets a bad rap because of it being a community college but I have been going for two years and I have no complaints.

Every staff person was knowledgeable, professional, kind, supportive and communicative. The instruction provided to the kids was easy to understand, and instructors were patient and calm. They provided free scripts for future use. The facility was clean, organized and safe. They concluded each day with an email update with photos and a description of the days events and lessons. My son loved making new friends, learning how to code and script and was sad when the week came to an end. The last day of the event included a showcase where each student presented the games they made. We intend to sign up for additional coaching sessions. I highly recommend!

My daughter learned rudimentary principles of Python, Java, and HTML. The school used exceptionally gifted high school students as instructors (teachers), which was great because my daughter could relate well to such instructors (as they were similar in age to my daughter). Further, the instructors acted as role models for my daughter, which was a huge benefit separate from the excellent instruction. The owner has a "can-do" personality and, furthermore, was very accommodating in relation to billing and scheduling make-up classes. What more could you want?

Our children have always been treated respectfully and kindly while receiving an exceptional education. Their education extends beyond the standard curriculum to art, music, grace and courtesy. Calling a school "Montessori" doesn't assure quality or traditional Montessori education. Sundance has give us that, plus a sense of community. If you're considering Montessori schools, look in to what a true Montessori classroom should look like before you start touring. You wont be disappointed with Sundance!

I implore the site mgr to correct this above all things - this is a school for heaven's sake. I have info packets from four local Montessori programs laid out in front of me and not one mirror such strict and dare I say prestigious policies. Sundance has mandatory "volunteer" hours or you must pay an "opt out" fee. A very unfriendly withdrawal policy (Note a 30 day notification necessary - not including weekends and holidays, holidays which are not counted although you pay for might I add. This is just one among a very long, twisting list of roadblocks to getting your money back). Also the most expensive registration, materials and app fees of any Montessori in the area as best as my research can tell. The absolute clincher for me is the application process. I'm afraid with no other Montessori do they project such a prestigious attitude about "invitation" requirements to register after teacher/director/parent/child interviews and nonrefundable fees, of which it's stated constantly "is not a guarantee of acceptance." What could possibly be on a toddlers application that would constitute refusal? I can only conclude they are judging in other areas of which I do not dare to guess. After researching this school I come away with an impression of a historic university including their policies and prices. This is PRESCHOOL after all. Ever so sorry about the negative review. I would like it known my review does not impose opinion upon this institution's teachers, their abilities in their profession and/or dedication to it. My issues rely on the business sector of this preschool only. I invite members of staff here to contact me and correct any of my misconceptions.

To enter the building you have to enter the front which is where everybody can see you from Folsom blvd. It's a bit of inconvenience but for safety reasons, I get it. They have a copier for students to use in the lounge area (10 cents per page). The classrooms are pretty decent size and all new! No graffiti/doodling on the tables or odd gums underneath the tables, or stinky carpet. The bathrooms aren't disgusting either. This location isn't so bad, but the parking lot needs improvement.

There is a student lounge area with vending machines & tons of electrical outlets, so it is the perfect spot to charge your laptop or phone while you're waiting for your class to start, or need somewhere to hang out. There is also a really nice computer lab on the second floor. Classrooms are spacious & the bathrooms are CLEAN! Always a plus. :-D Carson C. El Dorado Hills, CA
