I stopped through while visiting Cheyenne because I was traveling with my dog & I saw that this brewery was one of two breweries in Cheyenne that allow dogs inside. I love it when breweries allow this because, in my mind, breweries and dogs just go hand in hand. I wasn't sure which beers I wanted to try on my flight but luckily the helpful bartender told me I could try them all if I ordered two flights. Sold! They were all good but my favorites were the earl grey tea beer and their dark pumpkin beer. This is a great little garage turned brewery right in downtown Cheyenne. I was in the area with no real plan and this seemed like a good place to get a few beers, chat a little, and get some dinner advice. I started with a few small pours and then settled on a bigger pour of one of their IPAs. The bar was small but not crowded at all and everyone there seemed to be a regular. They have a cool map on the back wall where you can pin where you are visiting from - to my surprise, I was not only the first from Jersey City, but from all of Hudson county. It was an honor to represent! Tasty beers and really nice folks that pointed me to a very good dinner spot - and a branded glass to go, of course. If you are a local, join the club. Freedom's Edge is as good as I remember it when I went to Cheyenne and went to their taproom a couple of times when I still lived in Colorado. Since then the brewery has moved their downtown location but the brewery is still located downtown. With that the atmosphere is different too. They used to have a kind of an antique posh look but now it's a bit more streetwise looking atmosphere comparatively. The beer is still very good too! I have enjoyed great dark beers from the past here but wanted something lighter as it was a pretty hot day. So I got a good tasting witbier the Dash of Wit. It had a good wheat flavor to it which I really liked! Good stop and so glad I revisited on my last trip to Wyoming! read more

It's literally in a garage that they've turned into a brewery and service area. It may be small but the beers are especially tasty and also unique in the flavours they offer. For instance they offer a chilli beer. It's very rare that I fnd this. It's also dog friendly! So hopefully you're able to see some doggos if you decide to go. Service was great. The bartender was friendly and helpful. I wouldn't say that social distancing is enforced here. No mask on staff and unsure if there's any limited capacity. However, this may be due to different laws given in Wyoming (we've driven up from Denver, Colorado). read more

I called ahead to make sure dogs were allowed inside. And to my surprise they were. I showed up to what seemed like a local only bar, but everyone was very welcoming to my dog and me. The bartender gave my dog some dog treats and a bowl of water and he was solid. People kept coming up to waylon and chatting. It was nice to be included at the bar. Plus the beer is amazing! I had the dash of wit and high noon chili ale - that was my favorite. If I'm ever passing through I'll be sure to come back and visit this very friendly establishment. read more

Stopped by on a weekend (Sunday) and it's a cool spot if you're looking for a quick drink. It wasn't too busy when we stopped by, even though it was a holiday weekend. The pour portions come in 3 different sizes, which I can get behind. Hubs was a big fan of their IPA selection. I just wasn't a huge fan of their beers, not necessarily a bad thing, just preference. What a fun environment! It has all of the small town charm you'd expect from a Cheyenne local place, with the craftsmanship of a Denver or Boulder brewery! On my first trip, I had a vanilla porter and oh my lord it was like when you get a super sugary drink at Starbucks and you know you shouldn't cause calories but IT TASTES SO GOOD! The porter was rich and smooth and as heavy as can be with a pretty high ABV. The second visit, I had a flight of four beers: 1. Fest Bier- a light but enchanting brew with something German about it, through and through 2. Alt Wheel Drive- my first Altbier, it was dark and toasty, made me want a nice bonfire! 3. High Noon Chili Ale- well, this was exactly what you'd expect from the name, it had a heavy chili taste on the front and then washed down with... more chili taste. Maybe great with nachos or something, not a favorite of mine to have with the Halloween candy there! 4. Blood orange imperial ale- apparently their most popular beer, I totally understood why! It was fruity but kinda tasted like mulled wine; lots of fruit flavor but you could tell they added nice spices in there to mellow it out a little! Went here on a Friday night before we headed to Frontier Days. Love going to new breweries out of state. This place had a good selection. Had the Wheat, IPA, Scotch Ale and Cream Ale. Great, friendly craft brewery with a local feel (I know - all craft breweries are local by definition, but this one feels it). Small and homey, I really enjoyed their 1890 IPA. 1.8 mile walk to taste some craft brew. Worth it? Heck yes!! I was going to stop here and grab a 1/2 brew and then head down to Shadows Pub and Grill for dinner. Ended up ordering a flight of beer (4 5-oz pours) for $6 (can't beat that), and decided to check out the food truck out front for a small appetizer to tide me over until dinner. $3 for a 12-oz cup of jalapeño potato soup that was absolutely delish. Then walked to Shadows to find that they were closed to business, so I had to go back to Freedom's. But more about Freedom's. Every one of the tastings in the flight was really good. I especially liked their Java Joe and their 7% IPA (can't remember the name). Atmosphere top notch. Clientele friendly. The bartender let me borrow his charger for my extremely dead iPHONE which was of comfort since I had to walk 1.8 miles back in the dark. If ever I have the opportunity to stop in Cheyenne again, I will definitely put this place on my 'must stop' list. OH, how about tomorrow night, when I stay downtown at a bed and breakfast?! We only had a couple hours in Cheyenne on our way back to Denver from Chimney Rock in Nebraska, but this was a fun stop. The downtown area surrounding FE is so cute and in the process of being revitalized with fun restaurants and local haunts just like FE. The weather was PERFECT for the garage door was open. My fiancé and I were on our way to Boulder Co. while visiting Denver this past July and decided to live in the edge and just drive to Cheyenne Wyoming since we both had never been to the state and it was so close! We yelped some breweries and this one popped up. I don't really have anything bad to say about them but since I am quite the beer snob I can't really say that there was anything really special about their beers. It was cute inside and the staff and people there were friendly. I think they should probably get some specialty beers on tap to add some spark to the brewery and their beer list just step their beer game up a notch to make their beer more memorable. read more

Since opening, service has become pretentious, cold and sometimes unavailable. The venue is much too small and loud for a brew house. The quality and taste of craft brews is a little better than average, as compared to brew houses in other areas. "When" street food is parked out front, it slightly improves atmosphere through having more products available. read more

The boy and I were in Cheyenne this past weekend for a mini-getaway from Denver. We were both looking for somewhere nearby that we had not been before. We are both brewery people and are always looking for a great new beer. Freedom's Edge was near where we were staying so we walked over around 9 PM on a Saturday. The place was full but we were still able to find seats. We decided to get a flight and try everything! My favorites were the strawberry mango wheat and the chili beer. Everything was decent, but these were my favorites. They have games to play while you drink, or make friends with some of the super friendly people that come here. The only thing I would change is the music. They had it running from a TV music station and you could barely hear it. I like a little background music, but not too much where you cant hear anything. Excellent beer. As a fan of IPA's I really enjoyed the 1890 IPA. Others in my party enjoyed the different beers they sampled, including a fruit beer. Their menu rotates constantly, but you will likely find a type of beer you like. The decor is simple and there are no TV's! A garage type door opens to the cool Cheyenne air. You know your here to drink beer when you walk in. Try the Daily Press Food Truck that is often parked right outside. The panini's Mike makes are the best. read more

Cool spot! We were in Cheyenne for the day from out of town and stopped by here. Their "Basic Batch" pumpkin brew was really good. The only downside was the place is pretty tiny and has limited seating, so it took us a while to wait out a table. Obviously the place being packed says good things, though! read more

Small and neat place, unfortunately, not a remarkable experience as a brewery. Visited on a Monday and were the only ones in the place. Beer was warm, and just ok. Bartender was a nice guy, but kept to himself. I tried to engage him, but gave up as his cell phone seemed to be more of a draw than interacting with a customer. Went here as I was doing what I thought was a "Wyoming Beer Trail" but this place solidified that it's just a bunch of bars/breweries that sell beer. Fabulous microbrewery! I took my best friend to her first microbrew tasting! This place was the perfect atmosphere and she was able to sample 7 beers. I picked the black widow stout as my favorite and she picked the Hoppysaurus... Yes my friends the darks were so delicious! Unfortunately they do not serve food, the having the owners there in the tasting room was priceless. We will both come here to entertain in the future! read more

I came to Cheyenne for a day trip to try out the breweries in Cheyenne and Freedom's Edge Brewery stands up to any brewery I've been to anywhere. I really enjoyed the amber ale, red ale, and chili beer (which was by far the best chili beer I've ever had). There were 8 beers available during my visit and the price was outstanding at $5 for any 20 ounce pour. The bartender was friendly and attentive as well as a great crowd.
