Cottrell

I have been with the plumbing maintenance side of Cottrell for over a decade. I recently switched…read morefrom one of the big names in the Midlands for HVAC to Cottrell, and Colten was professional prompt, punctual, and respectful of my time. Lauren was great in the office and the they offer a military/veteran discount for fairly priced work. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't at least get a HVAC or plumbing quote from them when repairs, replacement, or maintenance is needed.

We did business with Cottrell for ten years…read more The Faucets: On 12/9/24 your technician cleared the upstairs vanity drain, and I asked him about the slow water flow at the faucets. He checked the water pressure and told me to contact Kohler for replacement faucets under their lifetime warranty, which Cottrell could then install. The actual cause was clogged aerators, which I fixed myself in minutes after AI diagnosed the issue. This was a verbal conversation during that visit, so it wouldn't appear as a quoted job, but it fits the attention-to-detail concerns below. The HVAC Drain Issues: I take little issue with this, other than that we should both have concluded sooner that the unit needed to be replaced. The cracked pan was not noticed until your technicians had been here a couple of times, which tells me more attention to detail is needed going forward. The Towels: Policies are nice, but they don't necessarily prevent the behavior. When you do business with someone for a long time and have generally good experiences, you don't raise a fuss over something small, like an employee using a white hand towel to soak up water and leaving it on the vanity. I'm not the kind of person who fusses over every little thing, but when little things build up, I will say something. The manager's words were, "I can't fix what I don't know about." That's true, but even after I told you, nothing was done. That statement also puts the burden of your employee's behavior on me. The Landing Runner: Please see the attached pictures. The photos don't support your technician's account. You said "According to the technician, while the crew was carrying the heavy replacement air handler up the stairs, the unsecured landing runner shifted underfoot, creating an immediate trip hazard while hauling equipment. He pushed it aside with his foot to clear the path, which unfortunately placed it beneath the attic ladder where it was damaged." The small carpet I placed under the attic steps to protect the floor was moved out of the way, and the landing runner was placed there deliberately. The third photograph shows how much adhesive holds the runner to the floor. It was not loose. Which is more likely: that it was loose, got pushed into his path, and happened to slide under the steps and push another carpet out of the way, or that he pulled it up and used it as part of his workspace? The manager did not offer to replace the carpet if I sent her a link like you claim she did. She said they would "take a look at it" if I replaced it and sent them an invoice. That was hedged enough that I wasn't confident an invoice would be honored. Since you've now offered to purchase it through a link and have it sent to my house, I'll take you up on that.. Also, if the photos contradict your technician's account of the runner, why would you rely on their account of the towel? Equipment Sound: Up to this point, I was just scratching my head about what is going on with Cottrell. The unit is noticeably louder. I appreciate that you sent a technician the next day at no charge, but the visit confirmed the unit was operating to spec and didn't address my complaint that it's louder. I wanted to find a solution, but the only option raised was a sound blanket. The manager didn't offer to come out herself, look at the unit, or discuss other units, and I was told "Sound is subjective." I never claimed you installed a different unit than you said. I just wanted to work through the problem. The reason we no longer want to use Cottrell is how these issues were handled: responsibility shifted back to us, responses were defensive and hedged, and problems raised after the fact weren't worked through with us. Maintenance Refund: You say the refund for half of the service agreement is being taken care of but I have yet to see anything on my credit card showing you have stood by your word. I will update this review once it posts.

Perfecto Plumbing - After trying to fix the issue with the original spout. Used the new tub spout and damaged my tub.

Mercellis is fantastic! Prompt does what needs to be done and goes the extra mile to get it right.read more

I contacted Mr. Odom to complete some plumbing work in my newly purchased home which came to a…read moretotal of $1,440. He was tasked with removing the old water heater and installing a new water heater. As well as replacing a tub drain cover, replacing two bathroom faucets, and installing new shower trims in my main and guest bathrooms. I brought all of the materials that needed to be replaced/installed. On the day of service he had a helper who was there to assist him. Mr. Odom told me that he and his helper were having issues trying to install the new shower trim in the guest bathroom. As a result they were just going to put the original spout back on (the tub spout was working properly before they took it off). After they did this the tub spout was not flushed with the shower wall and it did not work properly. When I turned on the tub spout there was water coming out from behind the spout. And when I turned on the shower, water would still come out the spout. I told Mr. Odom about it and he said he would check it out. Unfortunately, as a result of this company's work my guest bathroom tub was damaged (see images). There was damage to the shower wall in which they chipped and put a hole in it when trying to install the new tub spout. Then, proceeded to do a very unpleasant looking caulking job. My shower wall was also burnt during the process of Mr. Odom swelling a pipe. When I asked Mr. Odom to refund me the cost ($150) of installing the shower trims, he only refunded me $125 and stated, "Refund even though I do not owe you." After installing the new water heater Mr. Odom told me that they could not remove the old water heater from the attic because of a personal issue and would have to come back later with a different helper to remove it (he came back 6 days later to remove it). He did not inform about his personal issue when I initially reached out to him for an estimate. After this whole ordeal, I had to get another plumbing company to come out and assess everything that him and his helper did. As well as see what could be done in order to fix the damage to my guest bathroom tub. While the plumber was assessing the work, he noticed that an expansion tank was not installed on the new water heater (by the way, I asked Mr. Odom whether I need one and he said no). It cost me $348 for the new plumber to install the expansion tank. In order to fix the damage to the tub I had to get a resurfacing company. Who also fixed the drain gasket because it was installed wrong by Mr. Odom (or his helper). It cost me $1,400 to get my tub fixed and resurfaced. Now, I have to get the new plumber to come back and install a new tub spout, which will cost me more money. A $1,440 job with Perfecto Plumbing has now cost me an additional $1748 (and counting). Update: Mr. Odom should rethink and delete his claim about me not being honest. I have all of the text messages and do not mind posing them (if he would like) to prove that I wanted a refund of $150 (the cost for installing the shower trims) due to my dissatisfaction with the work. He is correct in stating this job took place in 2024. It took place on April 12 and he returned on April 18, 2024 to "fix" the spout issue (offered to paint over the burns) and remove the old water heater. It took me over a year to get the money and time to have the damages fixed. I also wanted to give accurate figures on how much it cost to fix the damage that was caused by this company. It took me some days to gather my thoughts and assess the damage that was done to my tub. On April 22, 2024, when I informed him about the damages and wanting a refund he did not offer to come back and fix the damage. And even if he would have offered I did not want him to return to my home a THIRD time considering that he already tried to fix his mistake once and end up burning and chipping my tub. Also, he originally said that he would only refund me $100. You read that correctly...he tried to off me a refund of $100. He is correct in stating that I did not answer the phone when he tried to call me on April 22, 2024 because I wanted to only communicate with him via text in order to have a record of what he stated because I did not trust him to tell the truth (case in point his reply to this review).
