Constellation Field - I want some drinks

ASTROS OF TOMORROW! If you're an MLB/MiLB fan like myself, Constellation Field needs to be on your…read moreradar. I've been to multiple baseball fields at the minor league level and this has to be one of my favorites! It's large, clean, and has a hometown feel. From the parking attendants to the gift/snack shops, I felt welcomed. Parking was $10 and food was reasonable considering it's a sporting event. Domino's Pizza was on-site with a small booth! Constellation field has burgers, chicken, hot dogs, fries, tea, and other staples like popcorn and chips. If you have kids, they have you covered here! I spent most of my money on collectible pins, a hat, jersey, and other gifts for my folks back home. I spotted three large gift shops with great items. I picked up every single enamel pin, lol. The store had snap backs, trucker hats, and dad caps. Shirts ranged from hokey to hipster. I felt like most of their jerseys needed a slight revamp, however I was able to find a neat one! Constellation Field has excellent seats, some shaded areas, and a massive lawn behind the bullpen. I spotted many families pull up their chairs and blankets. The area is quite inviting, it's also an affordable option for large families or groups with small children. Players interacted with fans on the lawn! I paid for a seat near home plate, it was about $13 bucks. I opted to stand and enjoy a refreshing drink at the viewing counter behind my section. I LOVE when stadiums have counters lined across the field. It's perfect for guests who want to stand or escape the sun. Personally, I had just arrived from a long flight so I wanted to stretch my legs, this was wonderful. Scoreboards and signage have an authentic Texan aesthetic. The largest scoreboard is shaped like the state of Texas and the numbers/lettering have a spacey vibe. Murals across Constellation are stunning, I especially love the ones featuring the Space Cowboys logo and Orion the mascot. Oh! Don't forget to take a picture with the large Astros championship ring, I forgot to like a dork! The parking lot is massive, I parked my little Kia Soul in a safe environment. I felt secure and comfortable.

Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD) has a gridiron gem of its own in Challenger Columbia Stadium. While the venue has been around for at least a decade, the 2024 commencement exercises for Clear Springs High School on June 1, 2024, were my first time there. My friends who I accompanied told me the stadium is considered one of the top high school football venues in the Lone Star State, and it was easy to see why. There's ample seating, a superb audio system, a crystal clear video board, nice sight lines, a very accommodating field house. I commend the district for commemorating the fallen astronauts of the 1986 Challenger explosion and the 2003 Columbia tragedy. The atmosphere at graduation was festive, but I can imagine being more than that during a football game.

The 2016-2017 school year is the first season of football. The stadium will hold 10,000 people. It is much nicer than the older Veterans Memorial Stadium on the east side of League City. It is much nicer than what we have had before but still not as nice as other stadiums in the Houston area. However, since I pay taxes in this district, I'm happy that it is not the most expensive stadium in the area. The fans are quite a distance from the field and sound from the stands does not seem to carry as loudly as it did in Veterans Memorial Stadium. It could be that the fans are more spread out and so it doesn't seem as loud. Parking is easy and in abundance. Coming to the game from the Gulf Freeway is a nightmare. You would be better off coming the back way from Friendswood on FM 528. Also, getting out of the parking lot when the game is over is also a nightmare. It is much better to park further from the stadium and walk to your car. You'll get out sooner parking closer to the street and walking to/from your car. Parking close to the stadium can end up being a 30-60 minute wait getting out afterwards.

The center is modern, clean, organized and has all the amenities. I came prepared with a clear bag but entry was still a breeze. Security does a great job pointing people in the direction of their seats and ensuring that stairways and hallways remain clear. In terms of food and drink, I was really impressed with the number of options. They have two full service food counters on either side of the arena. While I personally did not get anything, I saw people passing by with nachos and popcorn. If you want something a little more substantial Antones Poboys and Chick-fil-a were both set up for grab and go. They also had lots of alcoholic beverage options from tall boy beers, liquor for cocktails and even a spiked fresh lemonade stand. The arena has a fan shop onsite, some historical displays and a kid coloring zone. The game itself was well played (they won!) and executed from the announcer to the lights and entertainment. Great experience overall.
