Parking - parking is a little bit frustrating as there is probably plenty of room to park, but the lot is undersized and because of that, you need to purchase a paid parking spot in order to be guaranteed a spot. This is that included really separate from all of the money that you are spending to get in. Things to do or see: so one thing that is nice is the train trip which they have two running trains at all times and it takes you around to see the lights which are hidden from you. There's also a free walking trail once you get off or you can see a few more lights. There are some demonstrations that are being done.For example, there is a blacksmith that is making things that was open to having a discussion about what he was making.And why?And also I thought was very touching a lady that made small bracelets for the kids. It was just twisted up yarn, but I thought it was a very nice touch and affordable to do. For people that were there to arrive early and there was also supposed to be some type of bingo however, apparently they ran out the week before and had never replenished. Pretty much when you entered, there is a circle or vendors. All the vendors were all things that you were there to buy and weren't much for activities. There were two free things that you could do which is watch a movie which was at the very far back kind of a little bit hard to see, and then also there was kind of a kitty play area where you would play on these light up stones. Anywhere it was good to give it a shot it was more on the expensive side for when I feel it's currently worth. We will, and try again in a couple of years.

I misplaced my cup on the train ride and the workers stationed there were very helpful and friendly while we waited for the train to come back. We purchased a sweater from the gift shop, pizza, hot cocoa and the s'mores kit. We will def make this an annual tradition for us. I do have a few suggestions if the owners ever read this... 1. Some music along the pathway waiting to get in would be a nice touch. We had about a 15 min wait. 2. Hopefully there are plans to expand the gift shop. We had to wait outside to let the customers have space to walk around 3. Get some portable heaters for the workers at the train station! I was freezing just standing there a few min waiting. I felt terrible for the ones having to open and close the pathway All in all I would recommend coming here and looking forward to see what else they have in store for future seasons.

I was crushed, Went to sit in the hall.. Let my grandson eat his meal in the hall with me. Never have I ever been so insulted by a bunch of brats! Studio owners seem nice but I'm out. This museum was very interesting and had some really stunning displays and a very large collection…read moreof items for visitors to see. When we entered and paid the small price of admission, we were greeted by a volunteer, I believe he was a Vietnam veteran who welcomed us and gave some interesting information to get us started. The entry area is where he said they let kids be kids, the children of visitors get to play around in the mock up of what a US field camp would have looked like in Vietnam. He said they know smaller kids aren't always too excited about a boring museum tour so they can play soldier in this area, climb into the tent or pretend to be firing at incoming planes with the mocked up field gun. The parents are reminded that in other parts of the museum, the kids aren't allowed to interact with displays. The museum is laid out in a loop, you start to the right with the Revolutionary War period and on to the Civil War and so on. The hallway is filled with exhibits and there are rooms along the walk that you can enter that have more stuff to see. As you finish your tour you get to the section from recent conflicts like Iraq and Afghanistan. Outdoors there are many displays of military hardware, large trucks, a tank, helicopters and jet fighters. There is also a replica of the Vietnam Wall Memorial in the back that is very sobering to walk past and see so many names of service men and women who died in that conflict. This museum is easy to get to on the NW side of the city and just off of Interstate 45. There is plenty of parking, it's next door to the Prison Museum so we toured that and walked across the grass to this museum.

As you walk through the museum, you can't help but feel the reverence and gratitude of those who set it up. The displays are great. There's a good deal of items on display. Whatever you are into, whether its the history, tools, firearms, the cultures, or the human element of it all you will not be disappointed. They have displays set up for the various branches of service, the various wars and conflicts, a chapel, a salute to women in service, and a holocaust room. There's art, models, newspaper and magazine clippings, posters, postcards, pictures, scrapbooks, diaries, flags, signs, banners, guns and every kind of collection you can imagine. The admission fee is very reasonable. This is a great place to take your kids. There is a small gift shop with a good selection of reasonably priced items. There also several exhibits outside the museum. They purchased the traveling Vietnam Wall Memorial and are currently setting up a place outside for its permanent residency. If you are a veteran, this place is also a hub for area veterans events and gatherings. Huntsville loves their veterans and they honor them in several ways. Stop by and talk to these good folks to find out more. They are always looking for volunteers. If you are a veteran or just someone who appreciates our veterans, contact Tara for more information. Open from 9am - 5pm, families and college students alike gathered in the downtown square for the plethora of fun activities and neat sights to enjoy. A giant chunk of the downtown streets were shut down to accommodate what seemed like hundreds of vendors from all over this part of Texas. Clothing boutiques, nick-knacks, fatty fair foods, holiday decorations, jewelry, candles, nuts, antiques. Seriously, you can find anything here. The best part-- the people and the spirit. I love when people come together in outdoor gatherings in high spirits. I love all the Texas gear-- giant door displays of Cowboy Santa, "Happy Fall Y'all" signs, Texas stars, university gear, leather gun holsters, cowboy-decorated wreaths, etc. It's worth checking out in you're in the area!
