I had a great experience using Free China Visa and would definitely recommend them if you're trying to avoid an in person trip to the SF Consulate. I live in Nevada, and due to jurisdiction, my visa application had to be processed through the San Francisco Consulate. Instead of traveling there and dealing with long wait times, I decided to use Free China Visa based on a recommendation from my cousin. I had also checked with a local travel agency in Las Vegas, and they quoted me $390, while Free China Visa charged $300, which was a much better deal. Just a heads up: you still need to complete the China Online Visa Application (COVA) yourself and mail in your passport. Once your application is approved by the consulate, you notify Free China Visa, and they handle the in person drop off and pickup for you. I submitted my order on 2/24/26 and received my passport back by 3/13/26. The process took a little over two weeks, mainly because I had to make some updates to my application and provide additional documents. Overall, the steps were straightforward and easy to follow. This is the least expensive option I've found for mail-in Chinese visa service for the SF consulate. Local travel agencies in my area quoted at least double the price. You still have to fill out the online application forms, but you can mail your passport to the agency and they'll take it to the consulate, retrieve, and then courier the passport with the visa back to you. Think they can also provide email help with filling out the visa forms, but I didn't need to. Took about 2 weeks from me mailing my passport and application info, to getting my passport back with the visa. Pretty easy to follow their instructions and check progress, and everything went smoothly. read more

I had to send a statement in because I had gotten a China visa as a child but no longer had information on it. Also, I had travelled to Türkiye on a cruise recently that required a statement to be written also.
