It's a very busy place. You don't feel rushed as the employees let you take your time. I made a quick decision by choice but there are so many flavors! Mixing options is even better We ordered A medium Passion Fruit and Mango and a small Dark Chocolate and Strawberry. Packed so quickly that people before us were not done placing their order. They politely slid over so we could walk by to pay. The weather was so nice that we sat outside and enjoyed our gelato. We realized that there were silver seats to sit but had walked past them. When we turned around two young ladies were sitting there so I said let's go across the street. One of them had great hearing and said, "oh were you going to sit here?" I said no, go ahead and sit but it was such a nice gesture.

We know not every place is going to be a home run, but Kilwins in Evanston had one of the worst price-to-quality ratios we've ever experienced. The prices were shocking. We paid $66 for three tiny scoops and three small scoops. Even the cheapest single scoop was over $9, and if you wanted two flavors in one scoop, you had to order the larger $11 option. I've been to plenty of premium ice cream shops that charge more than average, but this felt completely out of proportion to what we received. The selection was also underwhelming. There weren't many flavors, and nothing stood out as particularly creative or memorable. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the ice cream itself. It seemed like it may have been made with quality ingredients, but every flavor we tried was overwhelmingly sweet. Instead of tasting balanced or rich, the sweetness drowned out everything else. We don't mind paying premium prices when the quality justifies it, and we certainly don't expect every ice cream stop to become a favorite. But after visiting so many great ice cream shops over the years, this was easily one of the most disappointing experiences we've had. Between the extremely high prices, limited selection, slow and blah service, and mediocre ice cream, we won't be back. Maybe their other stuff is good. But the ice cream portion of the store is best avoided.
