I initially stopped here to get gas (the provide BP at this location) and then I wanted to go inside to get a drink and a snack to wind down my night. After going inside it felt a little to small for my liking. I had to reroute myself several times just to look at items because of the people in here. I will give them this, it is nice and bright in the store and everything seemed organized and in place. I found my items and went to pay. The two employees working made it feel like anyone that was in the store was interrupting them and we should have just left without anything in our hands. It took a while be be rung up as the guy was having a full on conversation and slowly processing the transaction. What really bothered me was that even after you paid, it felt like they were waiting to accuse you of stealing something. My friends that came with me had already paid and were waiting there for me to finish. As I was going through my transaction they kept looking at my friends, who had already paid, like they wanted to accuse them so badly of stealing what they just paid for. Once I finished my transaction we headed outside and were on our way.

I found that it had a lot of those little things that you'd want to run to the corner store for, but maybe not want to get into a car and schlep to Safeway for: snacks like cookies, chips, sweets, candies. There were also some household staples, drinks, vape stuff, and toiletries. The price for the Tate's cookies I got were the same price as at Safeway. The guy behind the counter said there would be a set-up in the back for sandwiches and coffee in a couple weeks. Hope this venture goes well because I miss those corner bodegas of NYC... I went to the pharmacist counter with some cough drops, COVID-19 tests, and other remedies to buy, and tried to buy some Sudafed. The pharmacist told me I couldn't buy any of the non-pharmacy stuff there and had to buy it up front. Okay? Odd. When trying to buy the Sudafed their system went down when processing my DL. I asked if he could try it again and he said no. I left feeling very defeated because I was sick, in an unfamiliar city, and no other pharmacies nearby were open yet. I had already taken a Lyft to get here. I decided to go back inside to the pharmacist and asked where the nearest pharmacy was. The same pharmacist told me there was one at the university of Maryland, but it wasn't open to the public. !?! THANKS. During that time another very nice pharmacist had come in, took pity on me, and offered to try processing my DL again so I could get the Sudafed. This time it worked and I was incredibly grateful for her kindness. Finally, to top it all off, I bought a sealed bag of cough drops here and when I got back to my hotel, I opened it to find that some of the sealed cough drops actually had no cough drops in the packets. I basically bought a bag of empty cough drop packets. FML. Baltimore, you did me dirty this trip!!

I love when you walk into any space and you have a connection. I found out about FOBA from Cajou…read moreCreamery posting and ice cream social on their IG through partnering with them today in FOBA Refillery's space. I was in the area and remembered the event then knew I must swing by. I am so glad that I did. It was definitely alignment. FOBA is a refillery store. They are big on recycling and reducing waste. Their Mission: eliminate single-use plastic pollution while making sustainable living accessible and affordable. That's exactly what resonates with me. I've always been recycled and felt horrible about how much waste goes on landfills daily. FOBA stands for Fran's Organic Bodycare and Apothecary. Do I need to say more?! Fran, herself is such a vibe. Extremely sweet and listening how she simply needed products which didn't break her skin out and couldn't find them so she created them herself, directly alignmed with my experience. When I walked into the foyer a young lady greeted me as I stopped and took pictures of signage before entering the store. I later learned her name is Mack. She offered too take my umbrella which I originally declined then after she explained the treasure hunt, I knew I'd need my hands to be free. I'm always up for a challenge with prizes! I was already amazed with the items on the store and the aura was so encouraging and inviting that I was able to explore to my hearts content. Mack or Fran were there to give insight on products and answer any questions along the way. This was a great opportunity for me to not just meet the owner Fran but to also connect and learn about her vision which started from her own needs. It started off with moisturizer and now has multiple organic products! Within FOBA, she showcases a lot of Baltimore-owned business products and small-business owned items. You can literally shop for anything in there! Laundry detergent, shampoo, body wash, jewelry, toothpaste tablets, and so much more which all are refillable! You know your girl won the treasure hunt and I was gifted the most amazing gift: A FOBA body care set. It includes two all-natural 24-hour deodorants, multiple soaps, body scrub, all natural loofah and other amazing items. I did not want to leave! If I didn't have a movie I had already purchased a ticket for, I would still be there. Such a great space and they also offer DIY classes which I will be organizing to share this space and let others know what they're missing that they already know they need, but haven't found yet. That's exactly how I felt as tears came down my eyes realizing this is what I've always wanted. Hating to throw away or trying to recycle big laundry containers and I've always loved keeping glass. Now that I know there is a store with natural and organic products to help me, there's nothing else I want to purchase. My bag was literally overflowing with items I grabbed and freebies that I realized I couldn't live without. I grabbed more gifts than things I did for myself because I wanted people to have these items and to know that this space exists. It's a space that not only provides natural and organic products for your body, it's also welcoming and I made multiple connections.
