I have tried a few in the area and none of them were right for me. I have anxiety issues and a gag reflex (which is made worse by the anxiety) and I've had everything from a dentist who walked out of the room because they thought it was "ridiculous" to the staff talking about me right outside the room and how awful it was to have me as a patient. I couldn't wait any longer because this year I started to have pain, sores and broken teeth. I read a lot of good things about GLD on my insurance's website and other places on the internet so I decided to give them a try. It was a life changing experience. The staff at GLD is awesome. Everyone from the receptionists to the dental assistants and the dentist/doctor himself are absolutely amazing. They treat me like an old friend every time I come in and they have been so caring and attentive to my anxiety and sensitivities that I don't feel any anxiety going in anymore for any type of appointment, cleaning or major dental work and even surgery. If you're looking for a dentist in the Mentor area that cares about its patients and really wants to make an impact on their lives make an appointment at Great Lakes Dental.

He is very personable, listened carefully to all my concerns and provided me great detail to ensure I was doing the right things moving forward to best take care of my teeth. All the hygienists who did the cleanings are amazing too, very friendly and professional staff all around.

While we pride ourselves in every six months appointments and have followed our hygienist that we…read moreadore thru three dentists now we had one appointment with this practice in November 2023 and left in a so so manner. We have a set of twins and a singleton - so three kids, two parents all with government employee insurance mind you. The receptionist told me that the children were not allowed back fine but at the time it was just me my husband was not there yet and in 2023 I'm not leaving my children in an unintended waiting room in the United States alone. She seemed off put as to why I wouldn't just leave my children and go have the appointment especially when I would then have my appointment and all three of my children would then be in the lobby. Myself the client fixed the situation by taking in my children one at a time and sitting in our vehicle to keep them you know chill and not irritating other patrons but also safe and together. Now you might be like oh that's a small little annoyance get over it totally would have if that were the only one. My Singleton goes in hygienist immediately looks at him even before the x-rays and sees a hole in the back of one of his teeth now remember we go every 6 months I pay for the insurance I work hard for the insurance I'm going to use it. they wait until the dentist comes over completes an examination charges me for the examination and then says we don't do any kind of work on children's teeth like that fillings cavities anything you're going to have to go to a dental specialist. Guess what isn't covered because they use the examination That's right the examination just to get into that dental specialist. Red flag number two for me. Flash forward to making the appointments I make the appointments and the same receptionist looks at me and goes we can't do all of them together. My twins at the time were seven My singleton was five none of them are driving themselves but yet this firm advertises that they are a family dental practice. I think someone forgot to tell their staff. Now let's flash forward to our appointments this June 3 weeks before our appointments that we made in November I started being phoned by the receptionist Nathan telling me that Blue Cross Blue shield dental hadn't reimbursed the practice and that he had put it through my dental first which you are not allowed to do It has to go medical then dental I told him this he said he knew he said he didn't know realize I had the medical fine I offered to call Blue Cross Blue shield I did call Blue Cross Blue shield. A week later I got another message from him asking about if I had talked to Blue Cross Blue shield and if I could if I call the office about paying it that's what insurance does not the client. Now let's go to the appointment day June 6th and I get a phone call that suddenly our hygienist is unwell and three of our appointments for that day have been canceled hmm okay that's fine I said I will just send the children to a dental specialist since you guys don't really do kids anyways and do you know the year the cutoff the age cut off or you do service children He said he didn't know that it varied from practice to practice. Remember I'm asking about this specific Erieview Dental Practice right next to Noosa bistro in the same plaza area as Menards/Home Depot/Taco Bell; same one but unsure cool. So since you don't know let's cancel the kids appointments don't worry about it cancel the twins appointments which you already canceled that day and then the June 17th appointment for my Singleton and I shall find them an actual kids dentist. Was that what happened? Not that. What happened was he then asked when I was going to private pay the $1,500 that was waiting with the insurance because until that got paid I wasn't getting service. I immediately told them I don't like being blackmailed or extortioned whatever one you want to go with and called Blue Cross Blue shield dental to notify them of the continuing situation of which THEY STATED they flipped around insurance submission - that is not a client error folks. Anyways while l I love my hygienist I will not be returning to this practice they've been informed numerous times of such, I also just informed them again via voicemail about the text messages I've been sent all week for tomorrow's appointment which was canceled on June 6th - bottom line if you can go anywhere else I would highly encourage it.

I have had dental issues before and so, when she was suggesting a procedure to reveal more tooth, cutting away gum tissue, so casually, I knew this was really an oral surgery procedure, and she was NOT an oral surgeon. While she might have been able to do this, it would have been not at all in MY best interests in light of prior dental traumas and discomfort. She was told this and said she could give me a valium. A very imo, stupid suggestion in that while I am a young senior, I am at this time using a walker and anything that would potentially make me unsteady could lead to a fall and injury would be ill advised. It became to me very apparent that she was not the type of caring professional I anticipated and was too anxious to do a procedure that would not be in MY best interests though would bring in some income for the business she was part of. I did have a follow up visit because the night of the first visit, the tooth basically disintegrated when I bit on something, and I went back to see if the treatment plan was still feasible even though I would not have her do the initial care, which I had indicated would be likely since I knew an oral surgeon. While she still thought it was doable, I had happened prior to have a visit scheduled with my retiring dds of many years. And when she saw the tooth remains, in its current condition, she was shocked, and concluded as I had, that long term the tooth was not going to survive and what was left needed to be removed and potentially replaced. To think that I went out of my way at great expense (for transportation) for this "care". The other DDS in the practice gets good reviews. For routine care perhaps they are fine. But I will not be back. Even if I lived down the block, I would hesitate. This particular DDS only enhanced my general distrust of dentists.
