I have struggled with dental hygiene my whole life and as an adult I have tried to establish better habits, including regular visits to the dentists for cleanings and check-ups. I have tried a few in the area and none of them were right for me. I have anxiety issues and a gag reflex (which is made worse by the anxiety) and I've had everything from a dentist who walked out of the room because they thought it was "ridiculous" to the staff talking about me right outside the room and how awful it was to have me as a patient. I couldn't wait any longer because this year I started to have pain, sores and broken teeth. I read a lot of good things about GLD on my insurance's website and other places on the internet so I decided to give them a try. It was a life changing experience. The staff at GLD is awesome. Everyone from the receptionists to the dental assistants and the dentist/doctor himself are absolutely amazing. They treat me like an old friend every time I come in and they have been so caring and attentive to my anxiety and sensitivities that I don't feel any anxiety going in anymore for any type of appointment, cleaning or major dental work and even surgery. Highly recommend Great Lakes Dental. They use all the latest technology to ensure good health of your teeth, gums and jaw. I saw Dr. Williams during my visit and he is fantastic. He is very personable, listened carefully to all my concerns and provided me great detail to ensure I was doing the right things moving forward to best take care of my teeth. With all of the stellar reviews I thought I would give this place a try. They have state of the art equipment and generally the personnel are very pleasant . I went to them because I was having a problem with a tooth that had a root canal done many years ago. Initially I felt like I was buying a used car. I was tag teamed to have the tooth extracted (the same day) and an implant put in( at a later visit). I thought how about an antibiotic to see if that would clear the problem up....Yes I guess we can try that. Geee thanks. Fast forward a year. The problem reoccured and I did have the tooth extracted in preparation for an implant( just a note, implants are not done immediately, healing must take place first). Well after several attempts over the last few months to proceed with an implant ...no one contacted me or scheduled me in. I called and even spoke in person when I was there for filling replacements. They told me they would discuss my situation with the doctor and get back to me...Nothing!!! I guess they don't need the money ($6000.00), or maybe it's because I self pay (no insurance), whatever the case I guess its time to move on to another dental office to have this job finished! I am really not sure what the problem is because they certainly have enough staff and that staff seems to be competent! So whoever reads this...take away what you will! read more

There is a reason why this dental office has great reviews on Yelp, Google, Facebook, Healthgrades, etc. I used to loathe coming to my dental appointments. They always leave you feeling like a tender child at heart needing to be babied once you got home. This office does not make you feel that, in fact, they set the bar high for all dental offices and I always leave my appointments feeling warm spirited. I decided to make the investment into not only law school, but my teeth. Who would trust a lawyer with crooked teeth? Not I! After getting multiple quotes, Great Lakes Dental beat all other quotes for adult braces (without competing) and they had a nicer and upgraded dental office. Normally it's the other way around (ex: they charged a $200 upcharge for ceramic brackets while another office quoted me a $1600 upcharge for ceramic brackets). The place is always clean, and the staff does such a great job making it feel comfy, cozy, and decorated for the holidays. Dr. Beech and Jodi are my main go-to dental staff during my visits. Jodi is hands down THE BEST dental assistant I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with. She is so charismatic and fun that it makes the time go by so fast. She makes me feel like we're at a dinner party while she's changing the wires on my braces! Dr. Beech is a great guy too. It seems like employee morale is high here which makes for a great experience when you're here for dental work! A colleague suggested i come here. Even offerred a 100$ credit towards a comprehensive exam(color photos and digital xrays). The best decision i made!! I went to a facility a couple months prior and they didnt seem to have the staff, technology, and insight to meet my needs. If you are looking for a place that takes their time to evaluate, understand your current state and have proven cases to get you to an ideal healthy state..this is the place to be. Staff is super duper!! Even saw Jen cheer up a little one with a balloon she crafted in to a "light saber" - sword. That was great to see. If you are looking for a dental office that personally cares for you, Great Lakes Dental Arts is the place to be. From the time you call to set up an appointment to the time to leave with your teeth feeling squeaky clean, you feel like the whole office was just there for you! I live in Lakewood, but I make the 45 minute drive every six months to get my bi-yearly cleanings. The staff and dentists are truly amazing at their profession. I have experienced the latest technology in dental work during my time at Great Lakes. I get thorough cleanings from my dental hygienist and in depth consultations from my dentist, Dr. Perry. They are both great at what they do and are truly looking out for their patients. They never recommend anything that isn't truly necessary, but also give options to suit your budget/time. Haven't been to the dentist in a while? No worries! I hadn't been in about 3 years from traveling abroad. I was nervous, but everyone at the office was welcoming and it was definitely a judgement free zone. And yeah... You may feel embarrassed, but at least you are taking the right steps to healthy teeth. Nobody makes fun of an overweight person at the gym, right? Afraid of pain? I get asked at least a handful of times how I'm feeling during the cleaning. Usually there is minor pain from my gums being sore, but that's about it! I'm sure my hygienist would adjust if necessary! I get great reminders about my appointments in three ways - text, email and phone call. I definitely need those otherwise I'm the type of person that may forget! I'd highly recommend GLDA to anyone in search of a dentist. Whether you live near or far... It's worth it! I've only been for cleanings and minor preventative work, but I'm sure they do a fantastic job with other dental work as well! read more

I seriously loved this place so much! I honestly haven't been to a dentist in a long time and my teeth were not in good condition at all (my fault, I know) and I was dreading having to go somewhere because if there's anything I hate, it's being talked to like a child or an idiot (I know I messed up with my dental hygiene, that's why I'm here, let's get past that). Despite all of this, the women who worked with me were super nice and informative despite my bad habits. I was seen by Emily and Dr. Davito and they had calm, kind dispositions and were friendly enough to have conversations with that didn't leave my nerves a total mess. They were thorough with my x-rays, both of them explaining every single detail of the imagery and instead of scolding me for things I knowingly did that were bad for myself as previous dentists have, encouraged me to do better and provide me with the knowledge and materials to do so. The office staff was friendly and welcoming as well. The thing that stood out the most to me was that they actually read comments I had made in my file regarding my severe phobias of being sedated for surgery (no one EVER pays attention to details I have in my files and charts!) and this made me all the more trusting because they actually showed interest and care for my concerns and offered me other solutions and referred me to an oral surgeon who may be open to or have alternative solutions if it's not fully necessary. Bottom line is that I not only found a dental facility that I'm comfortable with that's affordable, but one that I'm actually kind of excited to return to. Wonderful comprehensive care! They take a proactive approach to dentistry which is refreshing. So, many dentist do patch work dentistry instead of addressing the root of problems. Carly, the hygienist, was friendly, knowledgeable and gentle. She informed me of every step before performing her work. She prepped me for what she saw and what Dr. Brewer may suggest. Now that's a hygienist who knows her stuff and her doctor's philosophy in practicing. Dr. Brewer was equally as friendly and informative. She went through every single x-ray and photos of each tooth; providing her findings and options for me to decide what approach I want to take. Overall great office and staff. The dentists are great. The assistants are great. Here's where the fail happens.... the office management. Everything is good as long as you have money up front for services. After spending thousands with them over a few years, the response for a serious infection that is causing pain and requires antibiotics and root canal is this: here is your prescription, let is know when you have the up front money to cover the estimate balance after insurance. Even after I have hundreds of dollars credit because of over charging from previous visits. 5 stars for the dentists if you have the money up front. I should have dealt with the longer car drive and stayed with my dentist that cares about the patient first. read more
