I made several visits to my dentist through the years and a few to my PCP, no one could help me! In January, I developed a bump behind my molars so I decided to try the dentist again. After a visit to another dentist who referred me to an oral surgeon, I was told I had a cyst and an impacted wisdom tooth close to the jaw bone. It needed to be taken care of asap but another surgeon would need to do it. After an ordeal with finding an oral surgeon, an appointment with Dr.Krajekien was made. I was so defeated by the time I walked into his office and figured it would be the same old same old. He assured me that we were going to resolve this. He was so kind and compassionate and understanding. I told him what was happening and he told me about the VR that he uses in surgery that would show him exactly what was happening in my mouth. After dealing with this for so long and now adding the cyst to the problem and listening to Dr. Krajekien, I knew VR would be my best option. It would show the most accurate analysis of what was causing the tongue issue and help determine the best way to eliminate the cyst and hopefully the intense tingling. After surgery my jaw was still intact, my cyst and wisdom tooth gone and I felt no pain. The surgery went quickly and smoothly I believe due to the VR aspect in preparing for my surgery. Let me start off by saying it has been awhile since I've had a dental cleaning (~2 years), but before that I was going regularly every 6 months. I was told I'd be foolish to start braces, and that if I didn't do their gingivitis cleaning (which cost over $200 after insurance!) there was no point in doing Invisalign as I'd need dentures after. I was already embarrassed to go back to the dentist knowing it had been so long since a cleaning, and I felt completely humiliated. The entire reason I went there was for a cleaning, and then I was told I couldn't even get that done as their hygienist was on leave! She gave a detailed explanation of what she was doing and told me of any teeth that needed extra attention or might need some repairs soon. He will often want to fix cosmetic related things with your teeth, and is honest if it is necessary dental work or just aesthetic.
