The seafood market is located inside a farm store along with fresh produce, gardening section…read moreoutside, dairy and meats. And the quality is fantastic! As a first time customer, I called in advance to see what Sal has in stock, and decided to go for the cod and scallops, and some frozen octopus for today. Not having seen what he packed for me beforehand (but trusting other reviews of this place from both yelp and google), I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautifully thick chuck of cod fillet (that would've cost 2-3x elsewhere, you normally only get thin, small pieces for the price Sal charges), and a amazing bag of fresh DRY large and plump scallops (for the price that other places would typically sell wet ones at). I was initially looking for branzino but learned that for whole fish, you can call him by Tuesday, he'll get it Thursday and you can pick it up Friday or Saturday. I'm now kind of glad he didn't have branzino so we got a chance to try his fresh reconnections! We just ate (devoured) the scallops and have the cod marinading in miso. Sal definitely has us as customers for life, even with the far drive.

First, I was surprised to find that they no longer serve their lobster rolls on the grilled hot-dog-style roll they used to use. The lobster roll is offered either cold with mayonnaise or hot with butter. I don't like mayonnaise, but I also didn't want my lobster heated. I asked if I could have the cold lobster with butter instead, and the woman at the counter said that would be fine. When I received my receipt, I noticed I had been charged an additional $1 on a nearly $30 lobster roll simply to have hot butter put on the cold lobster. I was honestly flabbergasted. All I wanted was cold lobster with melted butter poured over it. What bothered me almost as much was the way the situation was handled. The customer behind me ordered a lobster roll, and the woman at the counter specifically asked if she was okay with having it on a sub roll. She had never mentioned that to me. After overhearing that conversation, I went back and asked why I hadn't been told that the lobster rolls were no longer served on the traditional roll. The response was quite abrupt, and the manager was called over. Unfortunately, the manager was also angry and rude about the situation. I simply explained that, to me, a traditional New England lobster roll includes the grilled, buttered roll -- and that is exactly what I had ordered at Al's earlier this summer and loved. In the end, I was refunded the $1 butter charge and also received a refund for the entire lobster roll, which was around $34. I'm very disappointed because I have always loved Al's and have recommended them in the past. But after this experience, I won't be going back to Al's for a lobster roll. It's not just the change in the lobster roll itself; it was the lack of communication regarding the change and, most importantly, the way I was treated when I politely asked about it.
