The cashier was downright rude. Diana got upset because I wanted to buy a carton of cigarettes. There were no cartons, I stated to give me however many packs make a carton. I had to repeat what I wanted. Suddenly I was holding up her line, and I was told that I needed to be more prepared when I go shopping. She started to get a nasty attitude with me. Since buying cigarettes requires identification, I presented a Military ID Card. She got mad because it wouldn't scan, it scans, just need a manager's override. I was informed that the Fred Meyer's does not accept any type of Military ID, as they are bogus forms of identification. When I produced my driver's license, she suggested that it too may be bogus. Discrimination towards those who serve. When she was done, I told her Merry Christmas, and to learn some tact. I got Merry F*ing Christmas and to shop somewhere else. If Active/Retired Military Cards are so bogus, please post that Fred Meyers promotes discrimination towards veterans and Military ID is not accepted. I have been shopping at the North Division Fred Meyer in Spokane for over 20 years and used to love it. Since it was bought out a few years ago the store has slowly gone down hill. The staff I interact with at the store are always polite. But it does not appear that management for the corporation puts money back into the store as the carts are run down and the air conditioning has been out for several years. The deal breaker and reason I have stopped shopping their has to do with their online service and lack of corporate customer service. I order my groceries each weekend and then pick them up. However once I place an online order, a hold is placed on my card and then when I pick up my order I am charged for the order and the hold remains on my card for 3-4 days. So if I pay $300 for groceries, I am charged for $300 plus I have another $300 that is not available in my account until 3-4 days later when the hold is removed. I have sent several emails about this to Fred Meyer online customer service but I do not get a response. I also never got a response when someone hacked into my account and placed a delivery order in another state for $500. I caught it right after it happened and was able to change my password and then because I could not cancel my order (less than 24 hours before pickup) i had to cancel each item until all but one item remained. Fred Meyer has the cheapest prices and is located near my house, so it's my main supermarket. It's a miserable place to shop but great for getting g exercise trying to find things. For a while I was helping my son build his Pokemon card collection up and Fred Meyer had limits on pokemon product I could get now they took their limit away and since then there has been nothing available so now a scalper is likely to get everything and mark up the price probably won't go out of my way to go here anymore they were convenient but now will probably go to Walmart because it's a little easier to find those there at least lately. read more

I drove up to Spokane from Sacramento so I could visit some of my friends who moved up here. When I arrived, I heard talk of a Fred Meyer and how it's nothing like what we had in California. So obviously I had to to go check it out and see why it was so noteworthy. My takeaways, It's pretty similar to the bigger Walmart's. Lots of sections for light bulbs, rugs, candles, toys, games, etc. The rest of the first floor is filled with a lot more food items than a Walmart, much like a real grocery store. But then the second floor is filled with tons of generic clothing. It's such a chaotic store, yet amazing to someone who is not from Washington. I was surprised to see tons of products I grew up on, yet haven't seen in over a decade were here. As well as a bunch of products that I've never even seen before. So obviously I bought a ton of stuff to try. The building as also super clean which is a huge plus of course. Now for the negatives. The second story full of clothing seems so out of place. All of the clothing is so generic, yet more expensive than a lot of other places around here I've noticed. To be fair, ever person from Washington I've talked to says they never go to the clothing section. But that makes me wonder whose buying their clothes then. All of the clothing looks like the generic clothes that NPC's wear in video games. The other drawback is that they seem to be super understaffed. Only 1 person at self check out, as well as a single checker/bagger were there. Of course they had a couple other staff members who were probably doing things such as inventory, stock, etc. But there definitely wasn't a lot of people for checking out. Elderly, disabled veteran using a wheelchair. My local FM Pharmacy did not have my narcotic pain patches even though the phone robot said they were ready. Awesome clerk finds my patches have been sent to another store. The man calls the other store and I listen as he explains my situation and asks them to have my pain patches ready. Thank you. An hour later, I roll my chair into the other pharmacy, already feeling extra pain in my ruined neck and back. I am 'greeted' by a rude female of about 35 who listened to me and shouted out, "That's a damned lie! We have a huge load to go through, and no help, so good luck, 'Tom.' Maybe this afternoon!" I complained at Customer Service that this clerk often demeans senior citizens for being 'slow' and not moving fast enough. A quick conference with the Pharmicist was useless. A nice young lady from the office apologized and offered me a $25 gift certificate which was nice, however I wanted someone to interceed for me and show some concern. I requested that someone in management call me, and of course, no one cares enough to call me. I will now spend $1,000+ a month elsewhere. This is not how it used to be. read more

I am a middle-aged mom and foster mom. A big shopping trip might take an hour or more. In that time, I might need a restroom, I might need to change a little one or clean up some type of mess. My teenager and I might need to attend to our feminine hygiene. The list goes on. To have a basket full of an hour's shopping and kids with various needs, only to find there is no public restroom, is a very unwelcome surprise. A deal-breaker for me. I've always counted on Fred Meyer's clean, accessible restrooms. Whatever else they have going for them is lost on me if I have to leave my shopping and go looking elsewhere for a restroom. I don't mind asking for a code if they are trying to deter vandalism and crime. Or post security, as they have a guard by the front door. Shopping yesterday at Fred Meyer seemed that "someone" lost their Christmas spirit. Every year I look forward for the prime rib roast that goes on sale for the holidays at Fred Meyer. The customer service has always been great, and in some parts, it still is. However yesterday, when I usually buy an extra large prime rib roast, and the butcher will cut it in half after I purchase it, said "no can do". Life would have been easier if the limit would expand to 2 instead of one. I realize people are busy, but I was sure used to the smiling friendly faces and the "how can I help you" at the Fred Meyer South Hill. Although the butcher had a scowl, unfriendly look on his face like "I don't want to be bothered" and he wasn't the regular one that is usually there, I felt he could have been a little more approachable and accommodating and reaching out instead of what a lot of people have become, self absorbed. read more

I visited the Fred Meyer store on Thor this morning. I went to purchase some shampoo and deodorant. I am a Resident Care Coordinator, and I am on my feet between 12 and 14 hours a day. So, I thought "I'm here, I should go get some new shoes." I found a pair that I really liked, but I did have a question. So, I used the phone that is there to contact Customer Service so I may get some help with my question. As I am using the phone, two managers and an associate look at me as I hang up the phone. As they're standing there looking at me, Customer Service announces over the loudspeaker, "someone needs help in our shoe department." All three of them walk away after hearing the announcement and seeing me standing there waiting. I waited 10 more minutes and as I did, the 3 employees I just mentioned walked by once again seeing that I still am not being helped. At this point I figured they did not want my money more than I wanted the shoes, so I will be purchasing the shoes elsewhere, and probably on Amazon, since they have much better customer service, and you rarely even speak to an actual person online. So that speaks volumes as to the customer service at this Fred Meyer store. read more

Fred Meyer is a great grocery store that also is a full-service pharmacy, a florist shop, a clothing store, a do-it-yourself store and a great place to buy gifts. Oh, did I forget, this store also has a Starbucks and a bank inside. I am reviewing this store for its response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although not the first store to make curbside pick-up seamless, they got on board pretty quickly and had the app up and running early on in the spring. Ordering online has always been easy at Fred Meyer, but now you can schedule a pick up time and when you have parked all you have to do is text them that you have arrived. Strangely they still give you a paper receipt with your order. The curbside pick up area is around the side of the store and the only possible hold up could be if a large delivery truck is maneuvering around the back when you are parking or leaving. The best thing about curbside pick up here is that you don't have to find a parking space by the entrances as these can be difficult to find and sometimes the flow of traffic though the parking lot is non-stop. I hope that they continue to allow free curbside pick-up (with a minimum purchase) after the pandemic. read more

Easy on and off the freeway for this location. There's a Starbucks inside, plus this store is like a super center with groceries, clothes and shoes are upstairs, and household items are to the right. Prices are reasonable, but you'll want to watch your prices on specific items because sometimes that items can be found elsewhere for a cheaper price. However, the fish counter has a guy who works there that is very knowledgeable about fish! Fred Meyer has a reward program, where they match a percentage of your purchases to your designated non-profit! You'll need a free Fred Meyer account and then attached it to your favorite charity or non-profit. My suggestion is to do this online before you arrive at the store, though. There's also Fred Meyer gas across the street, which is reasonably priced. If you've signed up for their rewards program, remember to put in your rewards number before pumping the gas. read more

I had my wedding ring repaired here in September for a loose stone. Now the diamond is missing and the clerk said there is nothing they can do. They only guarantee their work for 6 months. I have generally had ok experiences with this store, but lately I have dealt with buying refrigerated products that are either rotten or really close to their expiration date. I recently purchased some non-dairy yogurt that had mold growing on it when I opened it. It was not even past the expiration date, but I've also noticed that some of the products I buy are within days of their expiration, meaning I need to be extra on my toes when purchasing. While they are great about returns, the line can be long and the hassle of returning things is not really worth it. I strongly prefer the self-checkout, but it is usually pretty hard to get the attention of the attendant when the machine inevitably gets overwhelmed or doesn't like the weight of your shopping bag. The regular check lanes are fine, and they try to have enough lines open to make it worth your while. And while it's not this store's fault specifically but rather FM as a company: it is a major hassle to change your phone number on your Fred Meyer rewards card. read more

It's hard to beat Fred Meyer on cost. That is why we shop here. The department store upstairs is a nice feature, and makes for some convienent shopping, but isn't remarkable in other ways. The parking lot features a solid cross-section of humanity, so be alert to the realities of other lifestyles which may exist more fluidly alongside the square community's definitions of law and order, cleanliness, decency and so forth. Never again!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. One checker on a Friday night of holiday weekend. Customers don't know how to use the darn self check out things nor should we need to know how. If I wanted a job at Fred Meyer I would apply for one. Shelves a mess, out of lots of items. Horrible experience and I will NEVER come here again. And gawd forbid you have to use the restroom - the nearby person helping at the awful self check-out area can't give you a code or assist. Didn't fold them back up and made us feel like criminals for purchasing our items. We had used a gift card and they held up the packaging and it took two people to scrutinize it. Do not go to Fred Meyer's Spokane Valley location for baby formula. Specifically the hypoallergenic Similac Alimentum. I had been buying the 6pk of 8oz cans for 6 months for my 7 month old child at the reasonable price of $13.99. Suddenly the head of department decided in their infinite wisdom to make sure no one with babies that have severe dairy allergies can get their food unless your willing to pay $71.09 for the 6 pk which by the way runs out in roughly 3 days if you are lucky. That means you have to spend at least $140 per week leaving $560 for the whole month. "That sounds like a great idea!" The words from the head of department. I also had a self checkout lady tell me that "It is a very special type of formula." As if I am going to forget the last 6 months of buying the same exact formula there and just buy it since its suddenly really special. I tried customer service to find out if it was a mistake and the employee was really helpful and didn't understand why it was that much either but got overruled by his superiors. Safeway, Walmart, and Target all sell the Similac Alimentum if you don't know where to buy it. They also have it priced at around $13 like it should be. I will no longer shop at this Fred Meyer and would rather get my groceries from a gas station knowing I would get better service and common sense. read more

We just went to the Thor location Fred Meyer at 8:00 Sunday morning. Not one register was open!!! Asked a employee who was just walking back and forth why. They stated none are open at this time. On a Sunday morning at 8!!! WTF! We spend at least 250 a week there. One employee just walks back and forth doing nothing. Another was in the self checkout area. She had the tough job of scanning her card for every 15 items we scanned. This was the most inefficient idea I have ever seen at a store! Paying 2 employees to do basically nothing. Back to the 250 a week, how many bags is that? We all know a self check out isn't designed for that. Where do you have to put groceries. Until the cart is at least halfway empty, we had to put our freaking bags on the ground!!!!!! During this time! Wow! Didn't that through did you dumb a****! After today our decision is easy, NEVER going back, not even for a quick candy bar. Oh and whoever came up with idea should be canned immediately. We weren't the only ones very upset. read more

Took a custom ring in for a resizing, quoted $50 over the phone, after looking they add an extra $40 for two of eight diamonds being "loose" and when they took the ring the quote was $90 with tax. We come back three days later where they are charging us $140 because "they didn't count on having to replace the chrome backings to the diamonds" isn't that the point of a quote? To tell me how much I'm going to be expected to pay and for you to know all complications that may occur and factor that in to the quote? Then they refuse to give us our custom made ring back because when she swiped our card twice it overcharged our account and charging us a total of $280. So we "accidentally" pay them $280 and they want to keep our ring until "we get everything figured out". The next day they "do us a favor" and knock $17 off the $140. Good store rude employees grabbed a cart with my toddler and husband only to see they were out of literally everything we needed so we decided to abort mission seeing as the only thing in our cart was a single bag of clearance candy we picked up on the way in we left the cart by the registers near some others and began to walk away when we were approached by a very rude young women who told us filling a shopping cart then leaving it was against store policy and told us we would have to leave! When we started trying to explain they were out of everything we needed we were cut off told we could buy what we needed then leave I felt absolutely targeted from that encounter we shop here at least once a week and have seen carts full to the brim that people left in the middle of the store as well as there's no signs or postage saying this? I love Fred Meyer. For groceries, kids clothes, work clothes, shoes, etc. With groceries they are among the more expensive of grocery stores. But I am a big fan of "you get what you pay for." If I have a question on meats... they will not only help and make suggestions, but educate you on tips and recipes. A few weeks ago, I had never tasted a fruit they had there... And the produce guy busted out a knife, and cut one open to sample it. These traits you just don't see very often in grocery stores anymore. Super cool: They make their own sushi.... EVERY DAY! This is the only store bought sushi I will eat... Well, and "My Fresh Basket" since they opened. But that's it. They also have a salad bar by the pound, AND if you need a quick at home meal... They have 8 or varieties in the back that you purchase in bulk, by the pound... take home and cook. That simple! For clothes, when they have their sales... They really have their sales... I don't buy any clothes regular price... Ever... But they have enough sales throughout the year that it works out! Great shoe selection as well. I've purchased at least half my shoes here. read more

Very disappointing experience. I'm sixty years old and am recovering from eye surgery. I can't drive at this point so I didn't renew my driver's license. I couldn't buy a six-pack because of this situation. I have a license it has my picture and birthday on it. It is obviously me and I am obviously well past twenty-one.
