It has a sushi stand in the deli area of the store. I buy some sushi here occasionally but it never happened until the last purchase over past years. I bought some sushi and tried to eat them at home. About 40 % in two plastic cases, are too hard to eat. Bad sushi's texture is not only hard but also weird maybe because of overcooked rice or too cold or inconsistent fridge temperature or under-cooked rice. I returned and complained to the sushi staff and they advised to me "Microwave sushi before eating!". It is unbelievable. It sucks very much. read more

Summary of Incident: On the morning of November 7, 2025, I arrived at the Federal Way Fred Meyer around 9:30 AM. I am a 37-year-old mixed-race Black male, nicely dressed and well-groomed. I entered the store to purchase Jello mix and three limes. After going to the Jello isle, I briefly spoke (for no more than two minutes) with two of my fiancée's cousins, who happened to be shopping there. It was one of their children's birthdays. After finding out about the birthday I then decided to buy cupcakes, grabbed the limes, and headed toward the toy section to get a small gift for the child. While walking, I received a call from my fiancée informing me that her cousins had been approached by a man they identified as security or loss prevention. He had questioned them about whether they knew me. They told him they did and he walked away. Moments later, I noticed a man matching that description walking toward me. We made eye contact and he looked away. I asked him why he was following me. He denied it. I told him he's lying and that I received a call. He then became defensive and threatened to trespass me without any valid reason. He began raising his voice and yelled "get back," even though we were approximately three feet apart. I told him calmly, "I'm not doing anything -- you can back up." He then called two other security guards and falsely claimed that I had threatened him. One of the security guards, who recognized me, said he saw me in the store often and that I never cause trouble. I asked to speak with a manager. At that point, the accuser began speaking with employees near the front of the store, loudly insisting I was trespassed. I explained my side to the store staff, and a cashier offered to ring up my items. My fiancée's cousins came back in the store to check on me and tell what happened. The accuser then threatened to call the police; I told him to please do so and that I would wait. He did not call them. Then my fiancés mom showed up after hearing about the situation because she lives around the corner. After the situation calmed, one of the security guards privately told me, "Maybe it's because of your hair." I have long, clean, professionally styled curly hair. That comment strongly suggested racial or appearance-based profiling. I'm "handsome" and was dressed better than anyone in the store in my opinion. The store employees informed me that the security/loss prevention staff might be a third-party contractor, though I have since received conflicting information. My fiancée later returned to the store to file a complaint but was only handed a blank sheet of paper and told there was no formal process. When she recorded a short video to document the individual involved, the same accuser told her she was trespassing and walked away. Later, I called the store to request the name of the accuser, but employees refused to provide it and said I would need to speak with the manager the next day. This entire incident occurred publicly, in front of employees and other customers, and was deeply humiliating. I had done absolutely nothing wrong. I have five witnesses who can corroborate my account, including my fiancée's family members who were directly involved. I have also filed a formal complaint with the Washington State Human Rights Commission. This is 100% racial discrimination. The loss prevention knew he was wrong and had nothing, so he falsely accused me of threatening to fight him. The loss perveion was taller than me at around 6ft3 or 6ft4 and had at least 20-30 pounds on me. As long as this guy is employed I will never return to this store and possibly any Kroger stores if they are okay with this behavior. read more

First I want to say that the manager Austin was very apologetic and I do appreciate that, however, I feel that I need to share this really uncomfortable situation with y'all. I will admit, I am someone that tends to get watched a little closer by loss prevention than normal- I'm used to that and since I don't do anything wrong I tend to ignore it. This morning at 6am I was sent in to get 6 gallons of non-fat milk for the cafe I work at down the street. I also grabbed a bunch of bananas. I went to self checkout where I bought the milk on one card and then my bananas as a separate transaction on a different one. While checking out I felt that security was watching me but I brushed it off, again it happens. Then I walk past security, into the parking lot and to my car. That is when security came out and came up to me in the dark parking lot at my car accusing me of only paying for the milk. A showed him my receipt I luckily kept and he said thank you and walked away. I have several problems with this: 1) I am a woman alone in a dark not very busy parking lot. I felt unsafe and embarrassed 2) he had a receipt in his hand that I'm assuming was for the milk, but the last transaction on that till should've been the bananas so that doesn't make sense 3) the cost of the bananas? $1.60. Me feeling safe is worth less than $1.60 to them. It's really sad because I've lived in twin lakes all 28 years of my life. I've been going to this store my entire life. Some of the workers here are great but I had someone decline me alcohol because he could "smell alcohol on my breath" when I had 3 beers and didn't even drive, of course a smell of alcohol was on my breath but that's not the biggest problem.. Another lady chimed in and said my EYES WERE PINPOINTS SO I MUST BE TOO INTOXICATED! Claimed shes been around alcoholics her whole life, but clearly has no education on it still. Alcohol has nothing to do with pupils, that would be opiates. Long time fan of this chain. I wish they were in the Midwest. The produce is always well stocked as is the rest of the departments. For that I'm always grateful. The cashiers additionally have always been a level above. Wish I could say that about cashiers at nearly any other grocery chain. But. Yes there's a BUT. The men's restroom is possibly months late in any proper cleaning. Filthy. The store has instituted something I'm not surprised, a lock to deter junkies and thieving. Fine. But having to go means I had to go find someone to give me there code to gain entry. Once in I was pretty disturbed when I see filth that is not something that should be. A while ago we used to take advantage of the pick-up delivery service provided by Fred Meyer's, but soon tired of the $4.95 fee just to bring orders out to the car. Although the fee was somewhat lower than delivery services, it was still extra money out of our limited budget. Now picking up groceries or goods from stores is the normal thing. I mean why would a store charge a customer who drives his/her own car to the store a fee. I wrote to Fred Meyer's complaining of the charge. Now the fee has been dropped (most likely due to the Corona pandemic) and that's great news. It is especially useful for those of us who are retired and/or handicapped. Shopping in-store can be a hassle and many times electric carts are not available. Hooray to Freddie's for dropping the fees. We will return to shopping there as we really like the convenience of everything under one roof. read more

Shopping at Fred Meyer in Twin Lakes is so much more pleasant and I will gladly travel a little further to experience a better shopping trip than the stores by my home. Safeway seems to be all prevalent where I live but time after time hoping Safeway is frustrating. The produce at Fred Meyer is so much better the variety of carried items such as Jewish section is much wider in variety. The Deli counter you are helped in a matter of seconds (not so at Safeway). They want to help you and are pleasant! The checkout line is also speedy unlike the stores close to my home. The store has nice staff. The staff seemed very unorganized and lost on how to handle issue that arise. I was not impressed with Customer Service booth. It took 25 minutes to get assistance. I expected someone to come help because there was a very long line and the phone was ringing off the hook, but they did not. Every customer should have a place in line no matter what, from customers on the phone to customers in line. The people in the booth would answer the phone while they are working with a customer right in the middle of working with a walk in customer and then make you wait. Time management to provide excellent customer service is needed. It would be great to see the store set a higher level of expectation of their staff. I would like to see managers working directly with its employees. It's more about the face of the store instead of working on issues with the store for management. One day week should be spent with staff working on performance and how to provide excellent customer service. Performance should include no ear buds or cell phones during your shift. The focus should be on providing excellent customer service. Set a level of expectation that can be met. Be a store every one wants to come into and every one speak high of. read more

I recently, around noon today went to Fred Meyers to do my usual shopping. I went ahead to self checkout today and had planned to use two different payment methods at the self checkout. So, I went ahead and scanned the items that I wanted on my first card and paid for them using the scanner. I put the scanner down after scanning the items that I wanted on the first payment method I intended on using. After, as I was getting ready to scan the other items, the cashier, was staring at my screen trying to observe what I have scanned so far and they very loudly said "it looks like you have only scanned 7 items". And I mentioned to them that "I am using another payment method along with the one I just previously used". After that, they watched every other thing that I scanned for the second time and it felt uncomfortable. Overall this store is fine. I'm finally getting used to the newer aisles and I'm able to find all items but when I don't the employees are great at helping one out. My issue is with the deli. They're so inconsistent with quality when it comes to the prepared foods. One day the chicken salad is good, next time it looks like it's been sitting there for two days. Today I bought a rotisserie chicken for a quick lunch. When I got home I discovered the damn thing was burned and dry. We tried to eat a little bit of the meat but it all tasted burned. We also had to microwave it because it was cold. It ended up in the trash. The pharmacy will let you die....I had the misfortune of using their pharmacy and today was the final straw. I've had issues in the past but thought it was just hiccups here and there but today I am done. ***BUYER BEWARE** My insurance had a snaffu and thought I had another insurance as primary- long story short I don't and we got it sorted. But in the mean time they had cause a bunch of hoopla with some places I had been using. So I go to Fred Meyer and explain before we even start what had happened how it had been resolved and that they just need to go ahead and bill my insurance. The older lady was very friendly and helpful and entered everything in. But her system required some help so she calls over the indifferent callous "manager" that looks 16! And that my insurance says I have a different primary (btw he never called my insurance never even offered too and they are open til 8pm this was 645pm) No explanation just a shrug and walked away. This is for the jewelry store. Had a warranty job that needed done. One week to repair a clasp or one week to replace the chain. It's magic one week no matter what you need. The manager had attitude when I asked why, then suggested I take it to another Fred Meyer. This is where I bought it and is close to home. I've yet to set foot inside this Fred Meyer. So what's the deal with the review? Well, it's for their grocery pick up service. Which is pretty doggone fantastic. So here's the thing. I HATE grocery shopping. Even when armed with a grocery list, I inevitably find myself wandering the aisles aimlessly searching for something. I then become frustrated, which leads to my grabbing a bottle of wine, some cheese, salami, one of those pre-cooked chickens some beer...and then I escape. I am NOT a grocery store person. One day a Fred Meyer flyer found its way to my mailbox, it asked: "Have you tried our grocery pickup?" I had previously tried grocery pickup with Safeway, I wasn't a fan. So these days, my groceries are delivered to my home. While I enjoy not having to leave my house, the caveat is the expense and lack of variety. Grocery delivery via Instacart is expensive due to their fees. Amazon Prime Now delivery has such a limited inventory of grocery items it's difficult to grocery shop. So with the full understanding I'd need to put on pants, leave my house and actually drive to Fred Meyer to collect my groceries, I still decided to give their grocery pick up service a shot. And I fell in LOVE! TIP: Your first three pick up orders are free, after that you pay a $4.95 service fee. PROS: 1. The shopper did a great job of substituting unavailable grocery items with one of the same value and quality. 2. Easy to use coupons.Your Fred Meyer card is incorporated into the Fred Meyer app and coupons are easily added to items in your shopping cart. 3. Same day pick-up is available as long as you place your order early in the day. 4. Pick up is very simple...park in one of the many designated parking stalls, call the number on the parking post, provide your name. The extremely friendly shopper brings your groceries out to you as you wait in your vehicle. 5. Wide variety of pickup windows available, each window is 1 hour, you select the pickup time that works best, earliest time available is 7-8AM! 6. You can order alcohol for pickup. (Although twice I was not asked for my ID on two of my pickups with alcohol, the third time I was.. the inconsistency was disturbing). CONS: 1. Weekly savings circulars are not integrated with online shopping cart. When you see an item in the weekly circular you must then search the Fred Meyer site to add the item to your shopping cart. A click to add to cart functionality would be great. 2. Categorical navigation is quite clunky, there is a feeling that not all of the grocery items are loaded onto the app. 3. Forget about shopping for household items or clothing. The app is sparse and only has random items, you will need to visit the store for these items. 4. Inability to specifically select your replacement in case an item is out of stock. Overall, the cons are rather minor. I enjoy their pick-up service and plan to use it frequently. read more

I've shopped at Fred Meyers 40 years and the past 5 years I've watched a wonderful neighborly store turn into a deceptive and impractical business. What I mean is the advertising, whether online, in the paper or in store, is not what it appears!! The consumer has to pay close attention to what the actual price of an item is at the register! Otherwise, if you miss out on having a "digital card" the store doesn't honor the much advertised in bold print! Assuming you have a smart phone and assuming you want to fill it up with a digital app and assuming one knows how to use the scan code to access the sale price...then and only then do you get the savings. Otherwise, you've wasted your gas and time shopping with no savings. Not to mention how poor of a wireless connection there always is at all their stores! Another example of deceptive advertising practices..today, near the entry door are bins of "sale items"! Quaker Oats cereal only $2.29! I brought it to the register, it rung up $3.29! I questioned the price and was told I had to buy 5 cereals to get the price!!! What?!! I even took a picture of the sign & still didn't see the fine print! And what good does our Loyal Customer # do if we can't receive the full sale price? I've talked to so many people who find Fed Meyer practices quite dishonest and disrespecting to Loyal customers who've supported them for decades. It's quite insulting and manipulating and I'm done shopping at a business with zero integrity. You know, there's nothing special about Fred Meyer. They are Walmart's twin. (Not sure which one is the "good" twin or which one is the "bad" twin?) Fred Meyer is much more expensive. This location has the whole department store set up. It's huge. Confusing. The signage labeling the aisles are so hard to follow. Their labels at one end and not the other, so you need to make a loop to find out where stuff is. They're like a jack of all trades, master of none. Huge selection of genres, but the genres themselves are very limited. I have been here over 20 times (it's close and there are times when I can't choose another grocer to shop from.) and in all of my visits I have not been asked once if I needed help finding anything. I haven't been greeted. There is no customer service. I use self check out because the one time I used a cashier lane the cashier was super weird about my ID. I bought a bottle of wine and he quizzed me on my name and commented that I should be careful when leaving the store with it. If he was worried I was underage and had a fake ID, why didn't he call over a manager or AP? Not the way a guest should be treated. Another thing... Not that this has much to do with the business itself, but 2 times now I have almost been hit by vehicles in the parking lot. Sick? I woman with an infant must look like a pretty good target to some jerks. 200 points! Maybe Fred Meyer should have clearer crosswalks or more signs indicating that pedestrians have right of way in parking lots. Irritating! Coming from Southern California, we didn't have Fred Meyer around down there. So when I first moved up here I was surprised and delighted with the concept of a grocery, electronic and a department store and so much more rolled into one that wasn't a Walmart. I would consider Freddie's to be a step above Walmart in the sense that you don't see the more unusual clientele you would see at Walmart. or deal with the attitude you get from other folks that frequent it either. I think a bonus with Freddie's is their clothing department area because you can find name brand items without the need of going to an actual mall! Ya, sure the selection is more limited, but sometimes I just don't want to have to go to a mall and deal with that madness! I love the layout of the store and how well lit and open everything feels here! The produce looks fresh and well stocked and the staff is fairly friendly. The major drawback to this location is the parking! Sure there is 2 different entrances to get inside, but parking can be downright horrendous! Road rage comes to mind as I've seen how other people react and turn on each other over parking!! I used to frequent this Freddie's when I first moved into the area, but have come to realize that the traffic coming and going from 21st and Campus/336 St can sometimes be off putting especially with all the road work going on in the area; it just gets too highly congested! I can't help but laugh at the negative reviews of Fred Meyers, getting deducted because they can't find their way around and not having wi-fi? Or being a jack or all trades but a master of none? Fred Meyers has been a staple of my life since I was a kid. The beauty of this place is that it is known for One Stop Shopping. There's just a little bit of every thing that you may need. Ranging from groceries, to pet supplies, home furnishings, automotive, gardening, clothing, shoes, and even electronics and more. Given that their prices aren't the lowest around but what you're paying for is the convenience of having to only make one stop for all your needs. In this day and age of "time is money" I personally don't mind paying a little more to not have to run around town collecting things. They're hours are reasonably open from 10am - 11pm for your shopping needs. It's nice for parents as during the day time there is even a little child care center while you shop so you can shop quickly and efficiently. There isn't a need for wi-fi as many folks have cell phones with internet service already but if that's a complete must to you, just step outside to the left and you'll find a Starbucks connected to the building that offers free wi-fi. And next to the starbucks is a Fitness 19 gym so you can get your work out on and then get some food right after. Freddys as the locals call it is a great place. I will agree that they can be short staffed at times but that also helps keeps costs down,, that and the not the cheapest but far from the highest prices around is the only reason I would deduct a star from 5. read more

I saw that they had a sale on the Santa Cruz organic lemonade. I've bought from this store many times but when I got home, I realized that the lemonade was expired and it looked chunky and cloudy. I am extremely disgusted by it and didn't realize it was in these conditions because I had bought many. These usually have a shelf life of 2 years so that means they've had this bottle for about 2 years and didn't even check the expiration date. You can find almost anything you need at this store if you're in a bind! It's definitely a one stop shop if you don't feel like going to multiple stores to get things.
