Fred Meyer has done a great job of keeping the store mostly stocked during Covid. The prices are a bit higher than Walmart they are less than some other major grocers. Generally I find staff to be ok. Some far better than others but that isn't unusual with so many employees. The pharmacy is getting back in gear and churning people faster and faster. I love the garden center and try to visit it whenever I have a few extra minutes. read more

I think I died and went to heaven when I saw all those 40% and 70% off signs in the women's clothing. This was my first Fred Meyer, and when I told my son in Norfolk about it he immediately said, "Oh no!" We've lived here four years now, and this Fred Meyer store is great in all respects, superior to all of the grocery/department store experiences we had in the Bay Area. The employees are simply outstanding -- helpful, courteous and so relentlessly cheerful that it's literally a shock when we occasionally encounter one who's having a bad day and isn't openly friendly. If you can't find something, they won't direct you to an aisle -- they walk you to it, or if you're having trouble getting around they'll go get it for you. They give you the feeling this is the best job in Brookings (it probably is) and they're happy to have it. They rep the town very well to travelers passing through. As to the store itself, it's vast and well-organized -- we can find everything we need on a day-to-day basis, the product variety and prices are astonishingly good for a rural area, and the store is fairly easy to navigate once you get accustomed to the layout. Our shopping is 99% groceries, but we have bought at least small items from just about every department in the store. This place has been essential to our enjoyment of Brookings. read more

Horrible customer service! I usually love Fred Myers but this one is awful! I came to return two pairs of shoes, when I finally got to the counter after waiting in line for a long time the women working there was so unpleasant. When I handed her the recipe and she looked at it she stated "you've had these for so long (I only bought them 3 months ago) you can't return them anymore." in such a mean tone of voice! I understand that they have rules about returns but they need to train their employees to be nicer to the customers. Not to mention this store is so dirty and unorganized! read more

Our car started acting up as we drove into Brookings, so we ended up having to find a place for a night or two while getting it fixed. We headed in to Fred Meyer to get dinner and breakfast items and couldn't find an item we were looking for. The store manager, Henry, asked us if we were finding everything and we told him that we couldn't find a certain item. He told us to check in one place and after delivering and item in his hand to another customer, he would check in another location and meet us where we were looking. He followed through and brought us the item we were looking for. He was friendly and had a great sense of humor. We encountered an equally friendly employee when we went to check out. This was definitely one of the most positive interactions we have ever had at a Fred Meyer store. read more

Ive been a customer at their deli for years, noticed quite a turnover of employees. After 7pm they mark down the prices in the 'hot cases', and on my last two visits the 'new employees' told me the items I wished to purchase were not available as requested, or the discount did not apply...the thing is, Ive purchased those same items for years!...the new employees are misinformed. I asked them if there was a recently policy change...the answer was no. If I happen to catch an older employee I get the same service I have always received, but now its a gamble depending on whos working...and instead of arguing with the 'noobs' I simply go elsewhere. read more

This review pertains more to the store itself, my prior review was mostly about the gas station. Holy cow, this is a HUGE store! It's so huge, it has TWO floors, with an elevator, escalator, and stairs, pick one. It's almost a JC Penney's with a grocery store it's so large. I went to the second floor, which had the clothing. This store had the cutest clothes. I have never seen such cute clothes in a Fred Meyer. About the quality you would get at JC Penney's. Very wide selection of produce, including an organic section. I like the "health food" section in Fred Meyer, a good selection of personal products (soap, deodorant, toothpaste) and clothes washing liquid that is fragrance free (and not animal tested, very important to me). read more

This place give all inclusive shopping a new name. I was amazed how big they were and how many different things they were selling at this store. This is a superstore on steroids. It was late and they were the only place open that was not a gas station. We walked in and there was the electronics area with appliances, next area was the books and Oregon specialty items, next cards and gifts section. Groceries does not do this place justice as a store, because it is soooooo much more. I found it to have a higher calibur of items compared to other superstores. If I hiked through out the whole store, and yes I said hiked, my feet would hurt just from one swoop through the store. One of the most random stores I have ever been in before. Not very often you can purchase a Rouger 45 and toilet paper at the same place. This place is better than walmart in the simple fact they have more quality products. However, because there is not much in this town, I feel that they monopolize the area and residents may not have an accurate depiction of what the should really be paying. Some items were fairly priced, while others were not up to Par. Clothing selection was mediocre at best, and I feel for the town where all people must be dressed alike. We really only came in here out of boredom and curiosity. I will not be a complete hater though! In fact, I found this place very interesting could possibly find some items I would like here, but overall it is Odd. read more

Freddy's is the best! This place makes Wal Mart look like a Piggly Wiggly. Anything, I mean, ANYTHING you need is here. From furniture to fritos, you'll find it here. A poorly governed store for a small community. Even though Brookings is a fishing town, they chose to buy all their fish market product from out-of-state. Garden poison and food cross through the same checkout lines. Cheap Chinese products line the isles throughout the store. The organic products don't have a designated location, their now interspersed throughout the store as well. A once top-notch sporting section is now weak shelf space. Thankfully there's another grocery store across the street and another planned for south of town. Not to mention Bi-Mart and a couple other local stores have quality sporting goods and tackle. read more

Yesterday, my husband and I stopped at FM to fuel up his pickup. Both tanks. After filling the tank, the attendant handed my husband the receipt and he started the truck..At that second, the attendant realized that our truck was a diesel and he mistakenly filled it with gas. My husband immediately shut it off. From that moment, things went into motion. Everyone was extremely accomodating and helpful. We were offered a taxi, rental car, water, meals, anything we could possibly need. They called a tow company that came and siphoned the gas out , added a diesel treatment and refilled both tanks with diesel. Even tho it sucked a few hours out of our day, everyone was very helpful , from the gas attendant all the way up to the manager..Thanks for making a unfortunate situation more bearable...julie read more

I bought some soda-brand-shoes and the original price was $50, and it was discounted for $25, and on top of that I got a 15% discount-coupon (which I clipped off their weekly ads), so I paid $21.25. I have to agree with you Robyne, prices were so amazingly low everywhere we went in Oregon, we kept buying, and buying, and buying. Plus, no sales tax, sweet! I lived in Washington State a few years and Fred Meyer was one of my favorite places to shop because of their excellent variety and the ease of one-stop shopping. So, we HAD to check it out. First two-story FM I've ever seen, clothes are upstairs. We picked up: RV toilet paper, RV water supply valve, milk, beer, a compass, and cheese. What an assortment, and they actually had the RV stuff we needed, amazing! I just can't say enough good things about Fred. They had the right idea long before there was ever a Super-Walmart. Today I came into Fred Myers (my first time ever) I was looking for a charging cord for my old iPhone I couldn't find one & I had a wonderful employee help me, (I injured my foot & was having a hard time walking) anyways Olga was the employee that went above & beyond to help me by saving me steps on my sore foot. I had never been to Fred Meyer before and I want to go back immediately. I spent 1 1/2 hours in there... and that was just on groceries.

I dislike Fred Meyer's in general, but this one has a special flaw worth noting. Getting through the parking lot as a pedestrian is a nightmare, especially on a dark winter evening. There's no clear pedestrian path from the car to the store, the lot is full of unnavigable puddles, and it's poorly lit. I feared the experience both as a driver and pedestrian. read more

The Store in Brookings Oregon used to be Fred Meyer. They sold out, now Kroger owns the store. Since Rays and Shop-Smart closed there doors this is really the only market of any consequence in this town. It was a lot better before Kroger took it over. Now, every time I go to this store to shop. The shelves are half empty and disheveled. I questioned the management about this and there excuse was that there isn't enough shelf space to keep the store properly stocked. Funny thing is the shelf-space has not changed since Fred Meyer ran this store and they managed to keep the shelves stocked. read more

Fred's is my favorite grocery store in Brookings unless I'm in a hurry in which case I go to Rays.... I also like Grocery Outlet a lot for certain items you never knew you needed... Freds has the best produce on the coast and a good selection of Organic / Natural items. The deli is kind of old school and could use some updates and some better meats and breads, They will however let you pick out a fresh roll ... buy it separately and make your sandwich on it. Freds also sells everything else a person could want from Mini 14's to microwaves and even clothes for big and tall people.... Lots of shoes to choose, Plenty of toys to make noise, without Freds life wouldn't be the same here in Brookings. read more

Did I accidentally step into a super Wal-Mart with a jewelry store? That's exactly the impression I got when trying this establishment. I was looking for some fresh ingredients (ha! I laugh now knowing it would be a futile search) to cook a meal from. Their produce looked sad and everything else was processed or fried. Just went for a batch of tomato soup and sparkling water. When I checked out, the grocer tells me how he almost died of heat stroke after I return the congenial question back at him as to how he was. He seemed to want a very sympathetic ear, but I wasn't here to solve his problems--at least not at a check stand! I muttered some positive words, paid, and left. Not returning again. read more

To thank them, we went inside and bought all our groceries as well as a coffee grinder. This place has everything you need and the employees are so helpful and found a coupon for our coffee grinder. If I were only reviewing the store itself I would have rated it five stars. The jewelry department however is a nightmare and I would not recommend it to anyone. When I took my engagement ring to be sized the girl seemed completely annoyed to fill out the form to have it sent off. Seriously? That is her job and we were the only people in the shop. After my ring was sized I wore it for two weeks and the diamond fell out! It was not a cheap ring and it was such a disappointment. I tried to be nice about it even though I was in tears because they had to send it off again to be fixed. The employee who helped me basically told me to get over it because it happens all of the time. Needless to say I was furious at this point. A jewelry store should take pride in the quality of what they are selling. If I worked for them I would be very embarrassed to tell people that the diamonds fall out of their rings all of the time. I gave them an additional star because when we dropped it off to be sent back a girl named Jessica was super sweet and apologetic about the situation and she treated us very well. The other two women who work in there need to work on their customer service and maybe the company should invest in better jewelers if they have "problems like this all the time" . read more

We always have great luck when visiting this Freddie's when we come to visit family in Bookings. You have to watch the sales though and get the coupons that come in the ads in the local newspaper twice per week. They sometimes exclude certain name brands but not everything. We come to visit about twice a year and buy lots of random stuff we're always happy with. This week we bought a tropical silk and rayon shirt for me, two skirts, two tops, and a pair of dressy sandals for my wife, a nice outdoors fishing shirt for Christmas for my dad (like professional fishing gear but slightly more simple), multiple jar candles, and a few simple groceries for $123 total. Also earned double fuel points to my parents account, which we used the day before to receive a 40 cents per gallon discount. Crazy! Other great deals I saw this week which I would have loved but just have no need for were leather CAT boots and Keen boots each for under $100 pair. I never see prices like that so was trying to think who to get them for or if I could resell them. Market has good selection but is relatively basic. Think like a major middle market grocery store for average customers. Incomes are low in the area so shoppers would be above average income for the area to likely buy food there. This is NOT like Whole Foods or a gourmet market nor are they trying to be. I don't value those grocery stores anyway. read more

This store never keeps their shelves stocked, produce is old and moldy, floors in the produce dept are filthy, produce is never in stock, shelves in the health food department are always empty, employees are no where to be found and if you find an employee they are always talking to other employees and too busy to help the customers. Great store. They have almost everything a person needs at decent prices. I also enjoy the Starbucks kiosk inside the store. They have many organic produce choices at reasonable prices. They need more organic items in their bulk food bins, however. They usually do a good job with the produce display, but they don't seem to know that asparagus needs to be stood up with the stems in water, or at least kept damp, to keep it fresh and crisp. The cashiers are usually efficient and friendly, and they have lots of folks roaming the aisles to help customers find what they are looking for. Great service means a lot to customers and keeps folks employed, too. read more

Love this Fred Meyer the fruits and veggies are the freshest. The meat dept has a great selection of chops and steaks and pre-made kabobs. The deli has a bunch of great sides. Traveling through Oregon and found myself here almost every day. Brookings is lucky to have such a great store. read more
