So I've been coming in for years getting my liquor This time however I came in to purchase a bottle, didn't have correct amount of cash 22:60 gave him 23 and didn't get my change as I asked the kid he just said "I asked if you had the correct change" and when I said well why not round it off down as suppose to up? He ushered me along with the comment that he had to serve others?? Wtf? As much as I spent in this store over the years I thought for sure this kid wouldn't rip me off. Not my fault you don't have any change in your drawers. Now educate your store help! And this has nothing to do with money, only manners. read more

Traveling down Highway 101 on the way to Cali, we were confronted by builboards before we reached the Oregon/Cali border. "Up to 70% off"-- liquor that is. We were coming from Washington, had just camped a couple nights at the Humbug Mtn. State Park, and figured a stop here would be kind of fun. Cocktails were bound to be flowing at our next destination along the Russian River, so what the Hell... This is a dangerously fun place. Booze as far as the eye could see, and so many options that I had yet to discover. And yes--they were at a discount price. We got a monstrous 1.75L bottle of "Crown" for the same price as the smaller bottle. The same with Ketel One. Could we just stop with those? No, we had to get mixers of course. And naturally, on the way back North, after all the booze had been drunk during our 5 day cork along the Russian River, we needed to make the stop at All Star Liquor just one more time...for old time's sake. I think this will become a yearly event for us--with the mandatory detox afterward. read more

I've been a customer of All Star Liquor in Hilt for a while, but only have 1 experience with the Smith River location. Not only are the prices and selection is superior to anywhere I've been, the customer service given at both locations just isn't common in the modern world. It's the kind of service you would expect at a 5 star resort, not from a retail store. Recently I arrived to find the store closed early after a prolonged power outage. It would be very inconvenient for me to have to return. I called the Hilt location to see if anything could be done. A series of phone calls later the manager was there with my order. This kind of service goes above and beyond anything I could ever expect. read more

Love this place! Everything from the huge selection to the ultra friendly staff (an employee dressed as a beer bottle carried our booze out to the car), to the terrific prices..... Superfly vodka is eight bucks cheaper here then in Brookings! So worth a trip across the border to stock up on adult beverages. read more

Prices seem OK but staff needs a class in Customer Service. I had a question about quantity pricing, "not in my pay grade" was the reply. So they called a manager, I waited for Manager for 15 minutes. She never did come up to counter so I asked the counter gal is she forgot about me. With her back to me she mumbled that "she is busy in the back". I left and went to a much better place in Crescent City (I was going that direction anyway). Bought 4 cases, saved enough to take my wife out to dinner tonight. Big deal, they carry it out for you, I can still do that myself. They do have a great selection. Just rude staff with a bad attitude. So my recommendation is to go to Rite Aid in Crescent City. Their sale prices are better anyway. read more

This store has changed. It was always a must stop place coming over from Oregon. This time their Scotch stock very poor and sparse. They don't require masks, and many weren't wearing them. The staff did, but took them down as they went out the door to carry your purchase to your car. Distancing was not encouraged in the check out process. read more

This place it AMAZING!! Huge selection and cheap cheap prices. And the staff is really friendly. I went there for the first time today. 1.75 bottle of Seagram's Gin for only $15!! Tanqueray was a few bucks under 30. It's like a mini-Bevmo. 'cept you don't feel like a schmuck for saying "Bevmo." First off, driving by, I didn't expect much by the looks of it, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The inside is AHHHHHHMAZING!!!!!!!! The store is clean, well organized, and has pretty much anything you can imagine! At unbeatable prices. Add in a very friendly staff, INCREDIBLE customer service, and I can't stress this enough, INCREDIBLE customer service! A woman helped me find what I needed, then took it up front, marked it for me, and was nice about it. I walked out wish in they taught customer service classes to other buisness. Go!!! This place is wonderful! There's nothing more i love than a Knowledgeable staff when it comes to buying something I know nothing about. I'm not a huge fan of alcohol but my best friend is, so on my way to Oregon to visit her for her birthday I thought I would stop to get her a special bottle of wine. The sales associate (Ricky I believe) was not only friendly but knew what he was talking about! He helped me pick the perfect bottle in my price range and my friend LOVED it. I'm not much of a hard alcohol drinker but I make it a point to stop by this place to pick up cheap booze every time I visit my friends in southern Oregon. My only qualm with this place is how they insist on carrying the booze out the door for you after you buy it; they won't just let you bring your own liquor out the door. I don't know if it's just a customer service measure (which, if it is, that's completely ridiculous and way overboard) or a security measure. It's annoying but in the grand scheme of things it's something you can overlook because alcohol is a commodity and they sell the stuff way cheaper than does my home state of Washington. read more

On 9/18/16 purchased one 1.75L bottle of Crown Royal and used my credit card. The amount was $37.70 and it was sent thru my bank and they got their money on 9/19/16. I still have a pending charge showing on my account dated 9/18/16 for the $37.70 again. Contacted my bank and they advised me that All State Liquor had made 2 different transactions. One on 9/18 and one on 9/19 for $37.70 I will pursue this as soon as they open this morning. And, not by phone, but in person! I live close enough to make the trip down from Brookings. Used to be a nice friendly place to shop until the owner's wife started running things and everything has gone downhill. Many of the employees left at that time, so the friendly helpful staff is gone and new faces every time you go in the place. Methinks they have gotten too big for their ability to run properly. read more

Negative experience 022716 at about 1500. They do have good prices, but our recent experience will lead to us taking our business elsewhere. My wife went to purchase two bottles of "manage a' trois, silk" wine, they both had price tags on them for $9.99. The entire display case of this wine had price tags attached to them for $9.99. At the register, they rang up for $10.47, prior to the sales tax being added. My wife noticed the discrepancy, the male behind the desk asked the female worker about the price difference and she told my wife "they're not $9.99, they're $10.47, the price on the bottle is wrong." The male asked my wife if she still wanted to purchase them, she told him "if you're not going to honor the price on the bottle, she will purchase them somewhere else." The total difference in price for both bottles was less than a dollar. We have spent plenty of money at this store, and they lost a customer because they would not honor a price they placed on the wine bottles. It's all about the principal, and they failed. I'd rather pay $13.00 for the wine at a store that treats its customers with respect and has an honest business practice. All Star Liquor, your low prices will not bring us back. read more

Add this to the fact I did not receive even an acknowledgment to the e-mail I sent them to alert them to the possibility they may have a problem. There are liquor stores, then there are liquor stores, then there is All Star Liquors!!!! One has not lived until they have shopped at either one of their stores in northern California. Selection = OUTSTANDING, knowledgable salespeople = OUTSTANDING, customer service = OUTSTANDING, value for your dollar = OUTSTANDING!!! There is no place on earth like All Star liquors my friends. If you enjoy your cocktails, then this is the place for you. We do not live in California, but 2 times a year we trek to either Hilt or Smith River and "load up". As we travel with our 2 german shepherd dogs, one year we found ourselves in a real fix. We bought so much liquor, we did not have room for the dogs!!! After a lot of shuffling boxes around, we were able to squeeze them in, although they were not happy with the amount of room they had. Once you shop here, you will be hooked!!! read more
