Those that not only has setup their 20 people Julius Caesar tents but also invited an army of people to their intimate loud music playing party. FYI, others may not enjoy your brand of metal rap. Or those that bring their Canadian Tire little power boats and pumps. For reasons unbeknownst to me, does being on beach equal to doing whatever you want? Social etiquette is shed with the clothes. So, simply reviewing this, may adulterate this pristine little sandy beach and lake into that monstrosity. It is a good kept secret. Beautiful clean water and beach. Not a lot of nutters yet.

A tiny community subsisting on "tourist" dollars from Canada (man, I sure hope they are doing alright, with the borders being closed due to COVID), Point Roberts was a bucket list item of mine, being one of the few enclaves in the US. Due to a geographic anomaly placing the peninsula below the 49th Parallel, it requires two border crossings (and a passport) to reach it by land. Canadians often come here for the cheap gasoline and liquor (truly the hallmarks of American culture!), and to park their yachts and boats cheaply. My wife and I spent an afternoon walking the beach, with the warm sun on our face, and a few Canadian families enjoying American FREEDOM nearby (yes, I am being cheeky). There are some covered patio spaces with tables for such activities, and although they are quickly claimed, you can pretty much setup a picnic anywhere: there are plenty of logs that will serve the same purpose. I can't say what it's like during the "busy" season, but during our visit in mid-August, the atmosphere was jovial, the people were pleasant, and there were no crowds whatsoever. Lighthouse Marine Park is the perfect, quiet seaside escape for those looking for a peaceful beach in which to relax on a warm day with family and friends.

It is not as cold unless it is a windy day. So definitely bring a jacket. The walking trail round the coast is not very long and it will probably take about an hour or less for a slow stroll. There are many birds - crows and gulls. There is a lighthouse which is not a pretty building. It looks very basic and is not a tower like building. This is also the whale migration route. But I have yet to see any whales or the seals or sea lions or porpoises. So sad. I have only seen ducks bobbing along near the shoreline. When the weather is nice, this is a good place to just sit on the many benches and chill, looking at the sea. For kids, there is a "fort" made of branches and twigs. I have seen many children having fun there, climbing up to the top or adding more branches to fortify it. I also saw a group of children with their teachers or some adults with garbage bags cleaning the shore area. Kudos. But generally the place is clean, I do not see much garbage left behind.

If you're not from Alberta, that analogy might not resonate with you. Crescent beach is like a locals only type of beach. There's a volleyball area, a Sandy cove for swimming, public restrooms, and a long walkway along the beach you can walk on. There are benches, logs and giant rocks for sitting and sun bathing or to just enjoy the sound of the water. I grabbed sushi from nearby sushi spot Hanaya Japanese restaurant and got their lunch special. Took my food "to-go" and headed on down to Crescent beach. There is free parking along residential streets but you can also park close to the public washrooms area next to the Crescent Beach swimming club (which is for members only). Although there are not many food or drink places on the beach, there is a little sail boat place where you can book a tour on a sailboat and head out onto the water. There is a dock for fishing too and the water is super clean. Lifeguards are also on patrol at this beach which is an amazing safety feature to have as well. I would definitely recommend this beach if you want something a little more low key, a little quieter, somewhere to meditate perhaps or have a nice lunch.

it's funny to think the day started with questionable navigation and the very real possibility of…read moreending up in surrey. fortunately, a perfectly timed, well executed uturn changed our fate. instead, we found ourselves at westminster pier park, and what a happy accident that turned out to be. nestled along the fraser river, the park offers a beautiful waterfront walk with sweeping river views, wide boardwalks, landscaped gardens, and plenty of places to sit and watch the world go by. it's hard to believe that much of the park was devastated by a major fire in 2020 and later rebuilt. today, it feels fresh, vibrant, and full of energy, with thoughtful design that blends play spaces, green spaces, and the waterfront into one inviting destination. the walk itself was lovely. we strolled along the boardwalk in the warm sunshine, spotted a blue heron near the water, and watched city workers planting colourful garden beds that added even more life to the scenery. between the passing tugboats, river traffic, and ever changing views, there was always something to catch our attention. the playground was an unexpected highlight. what started as a quick look quickly turned into a full blown play session. we lounged in the hammocks, laughed at how difficult they were to get out of, climbed into the twirly spinning round bucket that propel ourselves around using nothing but our body weight, and bounced on the spring loaded seesaws like a couple of kids who had completely forgotten about acting their age. the playground is thoughtfully designed for all kinds of play, making it just as enjoyable for adults rediscovering their inner child as it is for the kids it was built for. we got free parking, a great lunch, beautiful views, lots of laughs, and a reminder that sometimes the best days are the ones you never planned. all in all, it turned out to be a much better adventure than the one the gps seemed to have planned for us.

Its a mirror of the downtown coal harbour seawalk. It has a pretty nice stretch from one end to the other. So what's interesting here: -There are hammocks set up for people to relax -There are sun loungers that flip from one end to the other depending where you want to face -Volleyball courts for small gatherings -A nice green area for people who just want to sit in the sun -A kids play area -A nice path for walkers like me. In the summer, you can rent kayaks off the dock. There are plenty of picnic tables and public washrooms closer to the front of the park. However, if you drive a little further in, there is a huge field with more picnic tables and an area with a large gazebo and more tables. There are outhouses in this location too. Throughout the perimeter of the park, there are easy, flat trails covered and lines with beautiful trees. You can find dogs on leash and horses on these trails. One of best parts if that this park isn't heavily frequented so it's not overly crowded and you can enjoy the sights and feels of nature at your leisure. Came here recently for a snowy engagement shoot and it was magical! A little wonderland in a place you wouldn't expect.

While I thought the huge power kites were a symbol of childhood enjoyment it was so cool to see two adults flying all nine of them! It was great to see them enjoy the simple pleasures of life flying these in the winds off the Strait of Georgia.

It was dry, because South Surrey and White Rock never seems to get as much rain as Vancouver and North Vancouver. From there we walked down the beachside trail with whitecaps and windsurfers on one side, and gorgeous beachside cottages on the other. I was glad to be wearing a good windbreaker because a mighty wind blows in off Boundary Bay. This is a popular beach area in the summer, but it's a good place for a flat, easy walk in the winter, too. You can go quite a ways along the trail, tracing the shoreline, or just a quick and out and back before dark.
