My personal "dance team" consists of Kiki, flair personified; Sophia, the "drill instructor", and Denzel, the baddest man on two feet you'd ever meet. I dance bachata, salsa and the hustle with this crew, and am about to add the cha cha. I recently attended and danced at the big Medal Ball at the Surf Club in New Rochelle! Swank. I love that some of the classes I take are small so that you can get more one on one time with the teachers and some of the classes are really big. The technique taught here starts out very basic and moves up as you move up levels (posies, A, B, C, intermediate, conservatory 1, conservatory 2, pre pro and adult class). The dress code is black leotard and pink tights or for freer classes ( like contemporary or stretch class) you can wear a leotard and athletic/ comfortable black leggings. The community is really close ( u know most of the people by name and some I'm friends with). The teachers really want you to learn and grow as a dancer which has s really nice. There are only 3 studios so sometimes the classes are big but even in larger classes you get to know the teachers well. The only thing that isn't perfect about SBS is that you have to take a minimum of 3-4 classes a week once you reach level C and above. This would be fine if ballet was my only activity, but I also enjoy running and voice throughout the week. I also would like to see more class options than ballet, point, and sometimes contemporary. I really would like to see a jazz, tap, lyrical or Musial theater class available. However this is a great place to be if you are really committed to becoming a great ballerina.

For starters, the booking process was seamless. There were multiple packages to choose from, whether you just want to try out a class or fully commit. I also had no idea that they offered more than just pole! Some of their classes include Street Heels, Metamorphosis (which is a pole-less class; just straight dancing), and a stretch class! For transparency, I've never took a pole class in my life. While nervous going in, you can't help but immediately feel welcome. The owner of the studio, Taylor, was quick to greet me and the front desk girl, Jules, was as kind as could be! I can't even tell you how much fun I had at this class, and I wasn't even any good! Everyone in the class, not just the instructor, was so supportive and I quickly realized that this was more than just a class. It was a community. I loved it so much that the next week I invited one of my besties to join me! It was such a blast and I can't wait to book my next class!!
