Arthur Murray Dance has been a life changing experience for me since moving to White Plains, NY a few months ago. Every member of the staff is charming, from Michael the owner, Moises, the "hostest with the mostest", and several fantastic dance instructors. My personal "dance team" consists of Kiki, flair personified; Sophia, the "drill instructor", and Denzel, the baddest man on two feet you'd ever meet. I dance bachata, salsa and the hustle with this crew, and am about to add the cha cha. I recently attended and danced at the big Medal Ball at the Surf Club in New Rochelle! Swank. And I couldn't have even gotten into the building without the kindness, focus and commitment of these great human beings. I am beyond grateful. Run, don't walk, and dance! read more

I haven't taken dance lessons here but I have taken several zumba classes at this location on Saturday mornings. Therefore, I cant comment on the regular staff. However, the dance studio is on the second floor. The studio itself is very spacious, sunny and airy. read more

My boyfriend and I purchased a beginner lesson from Arthur Murray just to try to learn how to dance as a couple. We very much enjoyed the lesson and thought the instructor was absolutely lovely and knowledgeable. We were turned off however after the lesson when we were being sat down by the Manager to pick 2 lesson options. She then left to give us "a few minutes" to think about it but the lesson prices were not what we were looking for and we just finished our first lesson so we needed more time to think. The lesson prices are not listed on the website so we thought that they would be possibly double the beginner lesson special...we were wrong. The price was 4x the beginner lesson price. We took a additional lesson at full price and were again immediately sat down again after with our instructor and the manager who inquired about our dance future. We tried to politely say that we needed more time to think but we both left feeling uncomfortable and pressured when they kept asking when we would be back. Such a shame because overall we did love our instructor and the lesson but I would recommend to the studio to not overwhelm a new customer on their first day by pressuring them into buying a lesson pack that is not listed on the website. read more

My husband and I bought a groupon for group and private lessons. The first night we went the staff was super friendly... Offered us wine... Warm greeting... Took our coats... Made us feel very welcome. We were super excited! But then once night two started , so did the intense sales pitches! During our private lessons, we kept being asked by our dance instructor about our future goals in dance and were being pressured to sign up. We said we just wanted to take a few lessons for fun which is why we brought the Groupon! Then they kept asking us to sit down with the manager after the lesson who also wanted to talk to us about our dance future! Ughhh!!! What was I training for Dancing with the Stars!? NO! We couldn't take it anymore and didn't even get to use all the lessons we paid for because we felt like we were being harassed! We took a package of lessons here and really liked out instructor, Jason. His corrections were on the point and always helpful. Arthur Murray is a franchise that's similar in style to the Fred Astaire studios where they have regimented programs for their dancers to progress through. They WILL make you a better dancer. Make no mistake though, ballroom dancing instruction is very expensive everywhere. Heck, it cost even more than my dressage horseback riding lessons which came with a thoroughbred horse and an arena. We were asked when we finished the program if we'd like to continue to the next level and they didn't push us when we declined. The only con is that their entire studio is one big dance floor. There are no smaller rooms if you are taking private lessons so if you are practicing tango while someone has waltz music on, it may be trippy. My husband and I love Arthur Murray! The staff is first-rate: warm, welcoming and talented. It's not cheap, but it helps to do our individual lesson on a Friday night, back to back with a group class (at no additional charge). This is usually followed by a party, where we can practice and dance with other students and teachers, who are always happy to help us polish our moves. My BF got me some classes as a gift here. Initially had a good time but we ended up being really disappointed towards the end. The staff was very pushy in trying to get us to purchase more classes and the blond lady with short hair got very rude when my bf and I told her we wouldn't be able to keep going. We walked out of there really confused and disappointed as they had all been nice up until that moment. My husband and I decided to take dance lessons to prepare for our upcoming wedding. I did some research online and had peeked inside the dress store next to Arthur Murray before so I was a little familiar. I contacted Arthur Murray and set up a time with Joleen to come in for our first lesson. Everyone was very nice and attentive. We have a great time together. We were set up with our Dance instructor Andrea. She was very nice and taught us a bunch of different dances. A little bit of everything to prepare us for our wedding. It was great exercise. We enjoyed spending time together and by the end of our time there Andrea taught us a beautiful routine for our wedding and everyone love it! My husband Joe and I came here to create and learn a choreographed dance routine for our wedding. We started out as two shy dancers with two pairs of left feet. After working with their incredible teachers, especially Andrea (she is amazing!!!), our confidence grew and we had so much fun learning our routine! My wife and I recently completed a package of private lessons for our wedding at Arthur Murray in White Plains and had the most INCREDIBLE experience! As a couple who was completely clueless when it came to dancing, I never imagined that after just a few lessons we would master some of the basic progressions. Our instructor, Stephan, was extremely professional and approached every lesson with a level of enthusiasm and dedication that made it memorable and easy to understand. He even took the extra time needed to ensure that we were 100% comfortable with all of the progressions and cadences, and choreographed a beautiful Rumba dance to the song we selected for our first dance. By the end of our lesson plan, we had not only mastered our dance, but we also had the pleasure of learning additional dance styles such as the Swing and the Hustle. We were also given access to Arthur Murray's Friday night dance parties, which were so much fun! Our friends and family were blown away by our first dance, and we owe it all to Arthur Murray! While I was a bit skeptical, I took an intro lesson in mid-October and signed up for an initial series of lessons to learn the Argentine Tango. About a month and a half later I have since signed up for quite a few more lessons and can say that I am quite happy with the lessons and studio in general. While I was singularly focused on tango, the group classes have given me an opportunity to pick up a few steps for other dances, and have aided my two left feet in getting better coordination in general. I have taken private lessons with Paula and Jason, and group classes with most of the instructors, overall they all have a very positive and upbeat attitude and approach and create a fun environment. I've found most the students are also very sociable, and willing to help you along while you find your feet. The owner, Michael, also a class act, and you feel he truly cares about the studio and the students. My wife and I wanted to learn a dance step for my 70th birthday family celebration. So I called, and was told we could have an introductory,single lesson for a very reasonable fee. We arrived that night, and were greeted by a friendly desk person. Our dance instructor was a lovely young lady. The manager came over to try to sign us up for more lessons (at least four). We declined. He persisted for a little while, but never got too pushy, and capitulated to our desire for only one lesson. His point of the need for four lessons was well taken. The lesson we got was very helpful, and the instructor was kind, accepting and understanding of our only rudimentary skills. A review on this site from 2015 describes a very pushy sales job. Took a free trial class with Mario. He was great, made you feel at easy, very funny, knows his stuff & a great dancer. Wanted to try the class and think it over, the girl I met at the end was VERY pushy and did not understand why I was not running to sign up, tried to convince to sign up at least 4x. I really had a good time and would have liked to sign up but that girl really turned me off, not sure if I would go back, maybe to a different location. read more

As a birthday present my boyfriend surprised me with dancing lessons. We enjoyed each and everyone of them! They came with free access to group classes which we only attended once but had such an amazing time!! I can't wait to do another package of lessons when we have the time!!!! I must say it was a great experience. I took classes for my own pleasure. I had no partner. Mingling with all of the other students was great whether they came as a couple or not. I did some of the shows as your instructor will suggest. It can get costly to attend classes and special events but you have to decide if it's worth it for you. The teachers were great during the time I was there. Jason M was my instructor. I say go for it. It's education of another form. Education is always a plus in my book. read more
