I believe the business has been family owned for more than 25 years. The instructors are excellent and demonstrate a genuine interest in their students and in their art. I am not a novice dancer and have taken salsa and bachata classes for years. At the Latin Dancer, I have attended the intermediate salsa and bachata classes and immediately began learning more about posture, style, timing, ways to "play" with the music, expression, etc. The instructors aren't shy about making corrections, which is why you pay for dance instruction (at least I do). But more importantly, they continuously demonstrate proper technique and do not move on with class until everyone has a firm understanding of what they need to focus on and practice to properly learn the move. I took a Kizomba class once The instructor has interesting views on musicality, timing ... and "feeling" rhythms. He offered excellent instruction. At the end of my first class, I felt quite accomplished for someone who had never danced kizomba. I definitely need to find time to learn more about this dance. The instructors I've worked with are Patricio, Aldo and Ezri ... all excellent instructors and I highly recommend them in any forum of dance instruction. Patricio is the ultimate graceful and truly elegant dancer of all genres he teaches, to include tango; Aldo is the Optimus Prime of Bachata (watch out for those body rolls!) and Ezri is what I call a natural dancer, very smooth lead in all forms of dance. The owner/manager Susanna is a delight and somehow manages to keep up with all of the students. Some of the students have formal dance backgrounds, and others are true beginners .. and somehow, it just all comes together in a good learning experience. The students are welcoming; they are a very diverse, international group. A dance social is offered after classes where students have the opportunity to practice the movements they learned in class. It just doesn't get better! Oh wait, I didn't mention their tango classes, special events featuring guest instructors, holidays socials.... I've been going to DMV Iron in Falls Church for nearly a year now. Only have great things to say…read more Top highlights: 1. Couples membership is super cheap at $65/mo. I think an individual membership is something like $110/mo so it's extremely discounted. 2. Dry sauna in each of the two locker rooms is a huge, huge benefit. Very few gyms offer this. It's also the hottest sauna that I've been to (212 F) so very effective from a health and recovery standpoint. It's never been broken since I've been there. 3. Tons and tons of equipment that they update fairly regularly. New platforms underneath the racks was an addition earlier this year. Turf area is a nice plus too providing a dedicated area for plyometrics, stretching, sled pulls/pushes, etc. 4. Open 24/7. Parking lot is pretty big. Sometimes it's hard to find a spot since customers from other businesses also park in the back, but it is what it is. 5. Tons and tons of dumbbells that go up to over 100 lbs. For the smaller weights, they go up by 2.5 lbs, which is rare in other gyms. Only downside is that this isn't a gym for Olympic weightlifters. There are no bumper plates that weightlifters can drop from overhead. But it's a dream for bodybuilders and powerlifters.
