I've been coming to Corepower for the past 6 months and I have taken classes with most instructors at the falls church and merrifield location. Below are my thoughts on the instructors and classes:
Falls Church-
- Brittany De (Yoga Sculpt)- I love her class! She is always very enthusiastic and very encouraging which makes the class more enjoyable.
- Michelle (Yoga Sculpt)- She switches up her workout and is also one of my favorite instructors. I love how every class, she switches up the routine with something unexpected like doing 100 pushups in one class! It actually makes the class go by faster when you don't know what you're expecting.
- Clare (Yoga Sculpt)- I found her class to be somewhat slow.. esp. in the beginning, it feels more like C2 rather than yoga sculpt. I also am not a fan of her music, i remember one class she played disney music which isn't a great playlist for a Yoga Scupt class.
- Monica (Yoga Sculpt)- She is a superwoman lol. I feel like whenever I go to her class, I come out feeling like I went to 2 back to back yoga sculpt classes. The kicker is, she does literally every exercise with us and doesn't even seem like she's tired. Her class is VERY fast- paced, which I love and there's no easing into it. TAKE HER CLASS!
- Rissa Ca (Yoga Sculpt)- I've taken her class 2x and both times, the temperature in the class was UNBEARABLE. At one point, someone in the class pointed out that it was WAY too hot in the room. She would always be adjusting the temperature.. like she would be running back and forth from the front of the room to the back every few minutes to adjust temp. I'm not sure why but it is actually very distracting! She is actually a great instructor but I do wish she would keep the room at a bearable temperature in the first place so that she doesn't have to adjust it every few minutes.
- Angela Ca (Yoga Sculpt)- She is also one of my fav instructors. Very difficult. Great music. Workouts have a ton of repetitions. She teaches on the weekends at 9:30am.
- Amy K (Yoga Sculpt)- I took a few of her classes and they're always challenging and she plays great music, does the poses with us, is very encouraging! I only wish she teaches more 6pm classes at the falls church location!
- Kaitlyn R (Yoga Sculpt)- she doesn't really do the poses with us. I took one of her class a while back and she actually yells very loud in class, which can get a little bit distracting at times.
- Stephanie D (Yoga Sculpt)- She sounds like a boot camp instructor. lol
Merrifield-
- Emily C (Yoga Sculpt)- She does a lot of adjustments but she doesn't really do any of the yoga poses with the class. I actually prefer teachers who do the poses with us, she would explain it rather than show it.
- Anna Cat (C2)- She is actually one of the first instructors I had when i first started and she is a great C2 instructor. i would highly recommend for C2 class!
- Kimberly B (C2)- She is a nice instructor but I leave her class feeling like I just sat in a sauna and didn't do any exercises. That is b/c all the classes I had with her, she would leave like a good chunk of class for us to try a yoga pose. For example, 10 minutes to do the wheel... I didn't like that at all, i feel like she needs to have more structure in her class so that it feels like more of a workout than sitting in the sauna. She also talks a lot in class. Don't get me wrong, shes a great instructor but she just isn't what I am looking for in a yoga instructor, I like more of a workout than meditating in class.
- Diana W (C2)- She is one of my favorite C2 instructors. Challenging for a C2 class! I believe she teachers during the day.
I prefer yoga sculpt over C2. Yoga sculpt is definitely more challenging and considered more of a fitness class. I bought a 6 month membership and now that it is over, I am happy to move onto something different. I did enjoy my time at Corepower but I do wish that there were more 6pm classes at the Merrifield location. The locker rooms can be crowded after class so definitely take advantage of the cubbies outside. Water is $2 and Yoga mat rentals are also $2. One thing I'd like to mention is that.. I don't think the floors are cleaned between every class. I see one class end and people piling into the next class without wiping the sweat off the floor, which is a little disgusting b/c I see people sweat all around and outside their mat. The monthly fee for unlimited classes is around $155 which is pretty pricey but I hear there is a student discount. read more
