AVOID this business that used to be a profession or be prepared for the heavy sales pitch for very expensive and questionable procedures!!

I asked to get a dental cleaning and got scheduled pretty quickly. They requested that I send them my latest X-rays. I told them I do not need an evaluation of any kind, just a cleaning - in and out... Nevertheless, they insisted, saying it's their policy, so I reluctantly requested my current office to send them X-rays, which they did. While in the dental chair, I repeated my request to just get a cleaning - nothing more. However, they insisted on taking the X-rays yet again - I'd guess to just bill my insurance because they could... I was not happy to waste time and get radiated again, but complied. The dental hygienist tried to upsell me while I was in the chair! I may've agreed on some the procedures, which were offered, but the mere fact of pressuring me while I was already in the chair and not asking in advance was appalling. In addition, planned another appointment after the visit, and did not have time for all of that, so I refused. Before the cleaning was completed, the dentist came into the room, and the hygienist promptly stopped the procedure. Again, I said I do not need an evaluation, just the cleaning. Again, they insisted on it. The doctor spent a few min. with me and left. I missed my next appointment and was kind of upset with what took place, but lo and behold, they send me a bill for the doctor's exam! I've had dental insurance for many years, and cleaning was ALWAYS free. Apparently, not in this office. We called a couple of times trying to resolve this issue, but the office manager would basically have just angry monologues, and barely let use speak. So, if you are a sucker for unexpected charges and pressure to upsell while in the dental chair, this office is for you. I will pay the scummy bill, but I will never get even close.

I love the ladies here. Vanessa, Eleanor, Veronica and Laura always do a great job. Helpful and…read morecaring

Over a month ago, I fired my dentist…read more Long story. Basically I didn't like the way they treated me. I needed a crown, and they became very difficult to work with. So I set out to find a new place. Mind you I had a tooth that had just gone through a root canal, so time was of the essence. 1-800-DENTIST led me here. Since it is close to my work, I gave them a try. They got me in within a few days. Now, I could bore you with a lot of details, but I'll get to the point. The nature of my crown was fairly difficult, way in the back bottom molar. So difficult that in the end I made 4 visits here to get it right. Let's just say they got to know me really well the past month. Now, you may be saying to yourself, "Why would he give them 5 stars if they made him come back 4 times? Isn't that a bad thing?" You see, most people wouldn't consider that a positive experience. At my old dentist it wouldn't be. But there's a reason I am praising the Smile Exchange. I spent years in customer service. I was on the service side, and in quality control. I consider myself an expert on how it works. Smile Exchange treats you like a valued customer. They realize they are a service industry. Not every dental place does this. Along the way, Dr. Rolotti explained every reason why things were happening the way they were in great detail. I understood why there were problems, and what needed to be done. He gained my trust that way. Despite the complicated nature of my issue, he approached everything with tremendous attention to detail. But that's not all. You see, when a service industry has a situation where there's difficulty in the service even when they're trying their best to get it done, the most important thing they can show you as a customer is empathy. I truly felt that they honestly felt bad asking me to come back again when things didn't go as planned the first time. As a result, I felt like that even though my experience was complicated, that they were going to do everything possible to make it right. They did. In every sense of the word, they did it. They're worthy of your business. Everyone there treats you like a friend (say hi to Steve at the front desk for me). No, they won't make going to the dentist all sunshine and roses. All they'll do is serve you in the best possible manner they know how, and they'll make you smile along the way. In the end, that's the best customer service around.

I had only had 3 visits with them last year, and I chose them because they had glowing reviews,…read morehowever, little did I know, they essentially over hype your first visit and make you feel overly welcome, and then at the end, they solicit reviews before you walk out the door. I later posted a poor review after my third experience was HORRIBLE, and they called to ask me to take it down. I did because they convinced me it wasn't fair to the rest of the office staff, who were really nice, and since it was primarily the dentist that I had the issues with, I agreed. They asked me if I wanted anything in return and I said no. Just that they listen to people when they express concerns. My primary concern at the time was that they lied to me. After my first visit they told me that I needed crowns, but I never had crowns before, so I didn't know what to expect. I told them my wedding was in two weeks, and they said they could cement the temp crowns, just in case. I was nervous because they had a person before me who was complaining pretty loudly in the waiting room that their crowns fell out after recently having them done. The procedure went smoothly with minimal discomfort. It wasn't until I returned for the permanent ones that the dentist admitted that they lied to me about having cemented the temporary ones in. Why you would do that to someone before a major life event is beyond me. Also, when I told them that the my bite felt off with the temporary ones, the dentist told me that wasn't possible because "that's not how teeth work" as if I wouldn't know what my own teeth were supposed to feel like after 30+ years. However, once the permanent ones were in I no longer felt the misalignment when I bit down. Mind blowing. Why am I posting this review again a year later? Because they told me that had confirmed with my insurance what my financial liability was and I only owed them around $900.00, which I paid in three installments. Almost a year later now, I received a letter from my insurance company stating that a licensed dentist reviewed the clinical information and the procedure on both teeth was not actually necessary, so of course I get a bill from JP Gohel DMD LLC Conshohocken Dental Arts asking for an additional $1,046. None of it was covered even though CDA made it seem like it was absolutely urgent that I have the procedure done. When I called my insurance company they said they denied the claim ,and CDA appealed, but they only sent over the x-rays with no additional information. CDA claims to have submitted a description. So bottom line, don't go here unless you enjoy unnecessary procedures and getting surprise bills with commas in them. You should at the very least get a second opinion. I've seen other reviews regarding billing errors for services that weren't even rendered, and I would strongly suggest if this happens to you that you file a complaint with the Pennsylvania Board of Dentistry. I told billing I was appealing the decision and wanted them to submit additional documentation to my insurance company, but they're still sending me bills and threatening to send it to collections in 10 days if it's unpaid.

I've had to file ethics complaints about Dr. Jiten Gohel to both the Pennsylvania Bureau of…read moreProfessional and Occupational Affairs and HIPAA for two different violations. I should have read all these 1 star Yelp reviews before entrusting this office with my dental health. I completed Invisalign treatment with Dr. Gohel (now part of Bootway Dental) years ago but when I recently misplaced my top retainer (which he prescribed that I wear every night for the rest of my life), and I called to have a new one made, he refused. At first he said because I live in San Diego now and obviously can't come in for an exam, he won't order them. There's no reason for this. It's like losing your eye glasses- you just buy new ones, you don't have to have a whole new eye exam. The problem is that only the practitioner who completed Invisalign treatment can order a retainer. As a medical device, I was legally unable to order directly from Invisalign. ONLY Dr. Gohel could help me, and he refused, essentially holding my oral health hostage. I spoke to corporate Invisalign who called Dr. Gohel on my behalf to plead with him to place the order, and he still refused. But his rationale had changed. Now that days and weeks of arguing back and forth on the phone had passed, his new reason to not order the retainer is that my teeth may have shifted over this time, and the retainer may not fit. INCREDIBLE! If indeed they had shifted, it would only because *he* wouldn't order me the retainers required to be worn every night to avoid teeth shifting. He created the teeth shifting problem by not ordering the retrainer, and then wouldn't order the retainer because of the teeth shifting problem. Realizing I was getting nowhere and that time was not on my side in order to avoid my teeth shifting out of alignment so bad I'd need to start $5,000 Invisalign treatment over from scratch, I asked both on the phone and in writing via email to have my dental records and Invisalign records sent to me so that I could petition Invisalign to have my case transferred to a local dentist, who would order my retainer. HIPAA requires medical practitioners to give access to the patient's medical record within 30 days of the request. It's been *41* and still nothing! After 16 days of radio silence I followed up about my records. I was told the doctor had a death in the family and none of the staff could access my files, but he would be back in the office the next day. OK. They should have told me that, but fine. I'm a reasonable person, if there's a death in the family I get it. But the next day, next week, and next month came and went, still no records. I've email this office multiple follow ups. I've even reminded them that per HIPAA, they are legally required to send me the records within 30 days. STILL NOTHING! So Dr. Gohel has refused care, and is depriving me of the medical records so I can get care elsewhere. I've had to go back to Invisalign corporate and get special permission due to extenuating circumstances (ie Dr. Gohel's unethical incompetence) to get my records transferred. tl;dr: UNETHICALLY REFUSES PATIENT CARE, ILLEGALLY WITHHOLDS PATIENT RECORDS.
