He laid out what had gone wrong and actually explained how everything on my paystub contributed to what I owed, which I should have learned long ago but never got around to. He also found the error on the prior year form and explained how to fix it. I have been using Patrick's services for about 7-8 years now and ever since the first year I used them their service and particularly their responsiveness has gotten absurdly bad. Recently, I was looking to buy a house and had found the house we wanted to make an offer on but needed to make some changes to my tax returns for the mortgage. I laid all of this out to Patrick and asked for the changes. I made it clear the urgency of the situation as the only thing keeping us from moving forward with the offer was getting these documents. After a few days I followed up. No response. Followed up again the next day. No response. The next day they said they'd get it done in the next few days. After those few days I followed up and finally they said they'd get it to me on Tuesday - a few days later. Tuesday evening around 6:30 I followed up - no answer. All of my emails prior were very friendly. I was aware they were doing me a favor (that I was paying $150 for) Wednesday morning I sent a less than friendly email telling them it was imperative that I heard back either way and how unacceptable it is to constantly be ignoring a paying client who was told that what I was paying for would be done yesterday! Patrick then had the audacity to tell me that my emails were not helping him work any faster. Needless to say I will be writing about this experience anywhere I can. After 7 years of being a client I would have hoped they could have had enough respect to get this done for me in a timely manner. I have since talked to another accountant who says these changes should have taken no more than 30 minutes. If anyone wants a recommendation for an accountant who is competent and responsive I have found several now and am happy to give their information. Just don't use these idiots. TL;DR - DO NOT use these people. They have no respect for their clients time or money. They will charge you exorbitant fees then have the audacity to ignore your emails when you are seeking what you paid for. read more

Absolutely the most unprofessional, rude, unkind group of people I have ever worked with. Never, ever ever use their services. One of the women actually hung up on me. I had used them for a few years and they claimed I never paid them for their services even though I had. I had a cashed check to them and proof. They abused me over the phone, yelled at me and then hung up. It was so upsetting, unkind and abusive. Definitely reporting them to the better business bureau. Though I have not used this service in years I was referred to Patrick with a very difficult tax issue at a time when I was literally under IRS tyranny and had no way on earth out of the problem including not having the fee necessary to pay for services. Patrick personally guided me through the process. All my years of back-taxes were meticulously prepared, all I needed to do was pay and all my back taxes would be filed. My problem was, I did not have the money. Patrick was a complete stranger to me in the merciless mean streets of NY City but I wrote an impassioned personal letter requesting that he go WAY out on a limb and file the taxes without my first paying so I would be able to get my tax refund at which time I promised I would pay. An outrageous request was met with a humanitarian response UNHEARD of in this age of swimming with sharks. Mr. Frawley honored my request and literally saved my life. I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude for this extraordinary and unheard of reflection of the ethics and heart of Frawley & Associates. We spent years being overcharged for tax preparation by an accountant associated with our private wealth guy. They would outsource our return to India, and charge us $2,000 for that privilege. And these buffoons in India would always overlook stuff - including one year simply "forgetting" to deduct our RE taxes, so we ended up paying more in federal taxes than we should have. Finally, an independent contractor (self-employed graphic designer) I know referred us to Patrick Frawley. She told us he was honest, a straight shooter, and had a particular expertise in helping independent contracts/self-employed people (with 1099 income). That wasn't our particular case (we have really easy taxes/all W2 income), but her glowing referral caused me to reach out. He's now helped us prepare our taxes for 3 years running, and at $400-500 for our particular case, he charges 25% of what our old idiots charged...and for much more personalized service. My husband even made a bone-headed mistake this year and forgot to declare some dividend income. Patrick & his team filed an amended return for us at no charge. I don't know why others seem to have had negative experiences...particularly Yannis S...$400 is cheap for tax preparation!! read more

1 star because even though he solved what i wanted charging 400$!! , they never followed up with my case , making me lose over 2000$. They disappeared. This place is terrible. I used their services for a couple of years and they are definitely NOT filing my taxes appropriately! I have filed my personal and my LLC...I don't even think Patrick has anything to do with any of the filing...he has a bunch of young and probably inexperienced kids doing your taxes. He charges almost $300 for each filing and in 2016 they told me I was not getting any money back. Then the IRS sends me a letter refunding me $2000!!!! WTH! I paid them $600 to do nothing!! Why even ask for expenses and such if you're just going to disregard them??? Thank god the IRS is on top of it...this guy is a crook...stay away. You're better off with HR Block!!! read more

Beware! I went to Patrick bc I needed to start a company legally and wasn't sure which type would be best. He convinced me to start an s-Corp even though that was more involved than a c-Corp. I was nervous but he assured me he/his office would walk me through everything I needed to know (for example, payroll, which you need to have with an s-Corp). After they took my money and started the paperwork, I had to keep emailing them asking when I can come in (and told to keep waiting), and 6+ months later, I still have no further instructions and not all the paperwork I was supposed to receive. I think they are overwhelmed with new clients, and therefor being very neglectful once they have your money. I could have filed for an s-Corp myself online. It's quite simple. What I needed was someone to walk me through the rest of the setup, which I was very clear about in our meeting and assured I'd get that. Otherwise I wouldn't have spent $500 (which is also very pricey for this kind of service). read more

INCREDIBLE! Been overly particular in choosing a good accountant. Service is top notch and everyone in the office is friendly and on top of their game. Shay and Carol couldn't be more helpful and Patrick is awesome. Even though they are busy 24/7 they always make me feel like they are happy to see me. This guy is the worst. He filed our taxes late and told us a year later it was our fault we made final changes 2 days before our tax was due. We got slapped with a huge fine from the IRS. He uses Yahoo for his email and will try and sell you on the fact he worked at teh IRS - in the 1980's. Stay away if you want your taxes done correctly. read more

I never write Yelp reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others about my horrible experience with this office. Patrick saved me $600 on my taxes one year--2.5 years later I was audited and the IRS claimed I owed $5,000 due to the strange way Patrick filed my taxes (I'll spare the grisly details). At this point, I had moved across the country. I contacted Patrick's office, and for the year and a half ordeal of dealing with this audit (which I'm still dealing with) Patrick never once got on the phone with me, no matter how many times I called. His office just kept sending the same letter to the IRS which continually did not work, just wasted time. Finally, I hired another accountant to represent me--they couldn't even make sense of the taxes he filed. Truly the worst service that's now costing me $5,000 that I should not owe. Incompetent. Miscalculated what I owed to the IRS. Personal information is not kept secure - it's exposed on the computer screen where everyone who walks through the waiting area can see. Filing cabinets with personal information are accessible to anyone as well. read more
