Five stars for Goods Automotive Service!…read more On a Sunday late afternoon, we discovered we had a nail in our tire and realized we would not be able to safely make the commute back to New York City for work on Monday morning. We arrived first thing Monday morning, and the staff at Goods Automotive Service promptly took care of us with professionalism and kindness. They were quick, helpful, and made a stressful situation much easier. 10/10 would recommend!

I have now been to this service shop twice and have this to share about this business…read more Highly recommend on basis of owner honesty and service attitude towards the customer. Owner is fairly young mechanic operating his own business and REFRAINING from taking advantage of customers who might be seen as 'ripe for picking ' by many typical shops, ie out-of-towners... I got a simple fix for one of my vehicles at a point such that I couldn't determine just what was causing the strange noise from my engine. Turned out to be a spark plug not in its port, but now 'above ' it. Compression was escaping, thus the noise, but the sound made one think of damage to a part in valve-train. He could have helped me to get other rental wheels to use and leave my truck w/ him for him to tear into the engine next week, causing a horrible expense to us from other than his business mostly. The fix, rather simple, cost him very little, and same for us. Drove 700 miles to my home with no failure of this simple fix. Was so pleased, I decided to let his shop do an oil change service for my wife's car. Again, he provided personal attention to ensuring that the work was done so as to maximize customer satisfaction, though unforeseen circumstances arose( not his or our fault), and charged only a nominal amount for the work. If you want a mechanic that you can trust, I can recommend James, and I will bring him more business as I can!

If you want to throw your money away this is your place! I noticed one site said they did not list…read moreinsurance or certifications, which I realize now I should have asked for. I am a single disabled Grandmother and thought they seemed so nice. What I discovered was that it is run by tow boys still wet behind the ears, and barely over 21 years old. The dad, who is listed as the owner, rarely works on the cars. In fact we were told that only one of the two kids did the work. Before we could get an oil change we had to pay in advance so they could buy the oil...so I didn't question when they told me I had to pay for the transmission in advance so they could buy the transmission and pay their employees! I did think it was odd they wanted cash only, and wouldn't take my credit card! When I picked the car up it wouldn't stay in gear, even though the "mechanic" had just driven it. They claimed that the shifter cable suddenly broke and as they had done before had more charges to tack on. That has never worked and the transmission has continually slipped...but they refuse to honor their warranty! It falls from drive into neutral or park into reverse without touching it. I asked them to return my transmission and let me have my car back but they refused. The catalytic converter went out right away after replacing it. The master cylinder lasted almost two months. My daughter ordered a new battery from them. I asked for a 5 yr battery, we paid $69 and received a used 2 yr warranty battery that is the wrong size and the battery cable was replaced by one that is too large and cannot be tightened. They refused to fix it. The were supposed to fix my son's car windows that were sticking when they were going up and down. Now the rear window wont stay up at all, and they fixed nothing! I took the second car in to repair a loud noise I thought was the bearing, when we picked it up the sound was still there...they said it was rust and would rub free. I was told they set their prices according to other repair places on the Internet. Those places have lots of experience...these boys have very little. They set their labor not by how many hours they work, but rather by how much they think they can get according to the net (more if they don't like you!) according to their own words! They also go online to diagnose what is wrong and read how to repair it! If I go to a doctor, I want one that has enough sense to know how to treat me BEFORE they start...not have to stop and phone a friend! When we asked them to honor their warranty they swore at my 20 year old daughter and told her never to come on their lot again. When I said I was going to sue, they said they would sue for more! When I asked what for, I was informed they would come up with something! They were unprofessional, did shabby work, do not honor their warranty, and have no experience worth noting. It is no wonder they moved from Lewisberry to Hummelstown....if they did so well there, don't you think they would have stayed there? They claimed they outgrew their old building...so of course it only makes sense to move to HUMMELSTOWN! We are right next door! NOT! I am a disabled widow, and I had to learn the hard way some people may look and act nice enough but give them a chance and you will be out $3000 and still not have working cars!

A week later I realized that I really did need new tires. Searched all the normal retail outlets. Costco, Sam's and Walmart. Then checked www.tirerack.com and Amazon. Needed 4 tires for my Ram. Average cost without balance and mounting is between $600 to $800. WOW! Gave Jorge' a call. He quoted me $400 for new and $200 for brand new take offs. Plus tax. The price did include balance and mounting. Stopped by and looked at the Hankook take offs. The tires had maybe 500 miles on them. So I said hook me up. Dropped the truck with Jorge' and his crew the next morning. A couple of hours later everything was ready to go. Jorge' had me on the road quickly and at the right price with high quality tires.
