Excellent service and product. Dry wood even during the wet Mendocino winters. I recommend Frank's for all your firewood needs!

My friend and I were visiting a nearby winery and stopped by for a quick bite, and we were genuinely blown away. The tuna crudo, duck pâté, wines, desserts, and small bites all felt on the level of highly praised spots in San Francisco, but with incredible value. If you're traveling through Anderson Valley or heading toward Mendocino, I can't recommend Offspring enough. Excited to come back.

However, considering that it…read moreattracts and caters to tourists, a bit disappointed that they didn't have better gluten free options considering the significant progress in GF pizza crust technology. The kale and cabbage salad was innovative with a fermented garlic vinaigrette dressing with crispy kale (never had that before) and marcona almonds. It was a substantial salad for two and was delicious - not too much dressing, the dressing wasn't overpowering, the cabbage was crisp - it all worked really well. Because they didn't have gluten free pizza crusts, got the asparagus, green garlic and speck pizza toppings over polenta, which came out sizzling hot in a pan. It probably was great as a pizza, but not great over polenta. The pizza's looked large, so instead of getting a pizza that would only be half eaten, ordered the radiatorre pasta with pork ragu as the second entree. The pasta was fresh, substantial and delicious. The ragu was good, not too saucy, but a little bland. It could have benefited from some fresh basil and a little more... oomph. The local wines - barbera and granache - were not our favorites so we ordered a bottle of sangiovese. Fairly pricey - it all came out to over $200.

We enjoyed the pizza, a very fresh Caesar salad, and the arancinis -- all simple dishes, but executed beautifully. The pizza had that perfect wood-fired character, the Caesar was crisp and bright, and the arancinis were rich, flavorful, and perfectly crisp on the outside. The pricing was very reasonable for the quality and setting, which made the experience feel even better. Service was excellent throughout attentive, friendly, and well-paced without ever feeling rushed. One of the real highlights is the outdoor seating in the gorgeous courtyard. Dining under the trees and string lights in that peaceful, European-style garden setting makes the whole meal feel special without being formal or fussy. Wickson is the kind of place you can come back to multiple times in a trip easygoing, beautifully designed, and consistently satisfying.

I ordered the Greek chicken entree. It was nothing to rave about. If you are looking for bland broccoli and rice, this is your meal. The chicken was overly seasoned. I was disappointed. My husband enjoyed his tortellini with peas. That's saying something because he doesn't usually eat peas. If you're into cannabis there is an apothecary at the entrance of the building. I'm sure if the weather was better we would have enjoyed sitting outside. Meeting Blanche (the kitty) at the entrance was unexpected and sweet.

It's a full immersive farm experience that somehow feels both rustic and beautifully curated at the same time. The ambiance is incredible. Sitting outside with estate wines and handcrafted cheeses while overlooking vineyards, gardens, and animal pastures felt almost like stepping into another world. Everywhere you look there's something charming happening, goats playing, sheep grazing, cats wandering around the property, friendly dogs, and even a llama adding to the farm magic. What makes Pennyroyal so special is how connected everything feels. You can truly see the relationship between the land, the animals, the dairy, and the wine. The cheeses were outstanding, the wines paired perfectly, and the entire property radiates care, sustainability, and authenticity. We especially loved how relaxed and family-like the atmosphere felt. You're not just tasting wine, you're experiencing farm life in the best possible way. If you love wine, cheese, animals, beautiful scenery, and memorable experiences, Pennyroyal Farm is an absolute must-visit in Anderson Valley.

The cheeses alone are worth the drive, especially their Laychee which happened to be studded with fresh blueberries when we visited. If you try only one thing, make it the seasonal Laychee. It's unforgettable. We also devoured their ultra creamy deviled eggs, sipped wine, and ordered a cheese board because, honestly, cheese was the only thing on our minds. Boonville sits about 115 miles north of San Francisco, tucked among vineyards, redwoods, and small-town farmland. This whole stretch feels like a little slice of heaven. Stepping onto the property, it reminded me of a European farmstead. What makes Pennyroyal so special is that everything you taste comes directly from this land: goats, sheep, gardens, vineyards, cheese, wine - all feeding into each other on the same 66-acre ecosystem. Nothing is outsourced. They're open daily, and you can grab a table overlooking the vineyards or wander over to meet the animals and the people behind your very happy stomach. If you're exploring California's North Coast, this place belongs on your list.

Most of the wines we tasted we liked some more than others. But their pinot noirs are definitely my personal favorites. This winery was recommended by someone who used to be or is in their wine club. She told me the wine club charges a packing fee while the shipping is complimentary. We thought of joining their wine club we but didn't want to pay for packing their wines mailed to me.

So much so, that I actually preferred their white wine selection over their reds. Yes, indeed! Philo Ridge Vineyards is a cozy tasting room located in downtown Booneville right off of Highway 128. They offer a variety of different wines including Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, and so on. The tasting room itself is smaller than all of the other tasting rooms that I went to while wine tasting in Booneville. However, I could tell that this tasting room was extremely popular amongst the locals by how busy it was. Unfortunately, it can get a bit cramped and this is what happened when I arrived for my tasting. Nevertheless, the majority of the wines that I tasted were exceptional! Let me just say that Jill is an absolute Doll! Although she was basically swamped, she was able to assist us with a smile and poise. Her vivid descriptions and passion around the wines that she presented really shined through. I feel like it made me enjoy the wines even more. The cheese bread that they were serving didn't hurt either! I didn't get the name of the bread or even what cheese that it was made with, but it tasted yummy even while cold. Now to the best part... those wines! I tasted their 2014 Ferrington Vineyard Gewurztraminer, 2014 Nelson Vineyard Pinot Gris, 2014 Nelson Ranch Viognier, 2012 Marguerite Vineyard Pinot Noir, and their 2011 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir. I'm a love of Pinot Noir and although I liked the Pinots here, I wouldn't exactly call them my favorites. As I previously mentioned, the standouts here were their lovely whites! The Pinot Gris was light and fruity with the most fragrant pear aroma. I also really enjoyed the Viognier which had a very enjoyable floral taste with delicious notes of peaches and apricots. However, the torch goes to that Gewurztraminer! YEEESSS! Gimme some more of that goodness, mmm! The tropical fruits and crispness could be tasted from start to finish. If you love wines that are light, crisp, and full of floral and tropical notes, then this wine is definitely for you! It's the perfect wine to sip on a warm summer day. All in all, I wouldn't mind coming back to Philo Ridge to do another tasting. However, I would try to go during their off-peak hours to get a more intimate experience.

The end result is that instead of a smooth floor, we feel all of the grooves and variations in the shape/height of each board. It looks good. It's just not as uniform as we would like. I did bring up my concern and after a lot of waiting and poor communication was told they could apply another coat of finish but it would cost an additional $736 and probably not affect the result. (Communication was pretty poor throughout.) There was also a concern about whether their workers are technically employees (because they claim they are exempt from having to have Workers Comp coverage which can put property owners in jeopardy if one of their workers gets injured on site). But they did get us listed on their General Liability insurance policy for the time they were working at our property, and thankfully there were no injuries or other issues during the work.

I first…read morediscovered Stoney Bottom in 2022 when I was looking for a special place to surprise my sweetie with a romantic weekend away, possibly for our anniversary. While I loved the website and the vibe, I wasn't sure if I should book right away because it was a bit of a budget stretch on my end. After mulling it over a bit and calling the hosts to discuss their homemade breakfasts, I felt like I could not deny that it was a match, especially with my partner being a person interested in culinary delights as such-- I then booked an early spring weekend at Stoney Bottom. Everything about Stoney Bottom is both meticulously cared for, planned, and attended to, while at the same time peaceful, low key, and truly elegant. We were greeted with a delicious amenity upon arrival. These bites are perfect to kick back and enjoy on the porch. Leave all annoyances behind and just enjoy yourself at Stoney Bottom. We loved the look of the cottage (great style!) and they had all the amenities we could want. We had the best weekend away from the kids enjoying the wineries of anderson valley and also the property of Stoney Bottom itself. There are some great paths to explore around the gardens. The second time we stayed it was with our two kids in the Little House. This time we did more kid friendly activities in Anderson Valley, and there are plenty of them! The Little house gave us plenty of room to spread out and make ourselves at home. The master bedroom is so pretty and the bed itself is amazing (all the beds are really comfy). We could cook dinners there with ease and the kids loved having their own room and the big TV to plop in front of after a day of exploring. Stoney Bottom's location is PERFECT.... its was very walkable to get to town for a bite to eat or pick up some wine from one of the cute stores (we loved Disco Ranch wine shop!!) or wineries like Pennyroyale. The family who runs this B&B are super helpful when you have any questions, but they stay out of your way during your stay. All while making you feel pampered and welcome. They provide great service and you can tell they love and care about their property and the people they host. Its a real special place. Look no further... you found your home away from home here.
