We have been faithfully and happily using Loving's Fireplace to maintain our wood-burning fireplace for years. During this year's annual cleaning, we were told there were issues with our system. We discussed options, and decided that replacing our fireplace would be the best solution for us. We made an appointment to visit Ryan Loving (the owner) in Loving's Fireplace's beautiful new show room in Upper Lake to explore possible options. Ryan patiently and competently worked with us, answering our numerous questions, while asking us questions of his own, to determine the best solution for our needs. We gave him the deposit for the selected equipment, and were told it would take about three weeks before the equipment would be delivered from the manufacturer and installed. We were kept in the loop all along the way regarding the timeline to installation, which actually ended up being earlier than expected. Ryan and his team of three arrived on time the day of the install. They were very pleasant, and took great care in making sure our home was protected and clean during the process. Our job was not very difficult, and the bulk of the work was completed in two hours. Ryan stayed on an extra half hour, though, to light the first fire in our new fireplace, show us how to operate the system, answer any further questions, and inform us about what to expect during the first day of operation. We've has the fireplace going for several days now and are so pleased with our decision to buy a new one. It performs flawlessly, delivers the right amount of heat, and uses so much less fuel than our old unit. I have worked in Lake County CA as a renovator and Landlord for 2 decades. I have positive, long term and and respectful relationships with the people I work with. Today was my first in-person exposure to Ryan Loving of Loving's Fireplace. I am in shock. I simply have never experienced anything like this level of abusiveness from anyone in the service industry in Lake County. When I called to set up an appointment with Ryan, I left a message on his answering machine explaining that I had a type of wood stove that he apparently had installed before I owned my present house. I stated that it was not functioning properly, and probably had not been serviced properly in many years and could he please come out? When he called me back he was very angry, had a perception that somehow I had been rude or unkind on my message. I had no idea what he was talking about, and asked him if he was having a tough day in a joking manner to try to lighten the mood. He started yelling at me and ended up hanging up on me... Then he called me back and stated that now he had actually listened to my message, and that he had misunderstood me, and when would I like an appointment? He also offered me a discount on my service in order to make up for being so rude. When he did finally show up at my house, he immediately started being rude once again. I asked him politely if we could please be respectful of one another, given how difficult the 1st round of phone calls had been. He then immediately started packing up his equipment and told me to "take my tampon out". I am not kidding. Then as he was walking out the door, he said something about perhaps I should try to give somebody else a bl*w j*b. This man is unhinged... seriously not right. Unfortunately he is the only Pacific Energy Woodstove servicer in the entire area, so I guess he figures he can treat people however he wants. We moved to Lake County from Bay Area to Cobb 4 years ago.We went to the old location of Loving's Fireplace in 2018.Looked at all the stoves but were not ready to change out our stove yet. 2020,our stove is old and not effcient. Called Ryan at Loving's Fireplace and set up an appointment. The new showroom is beautiful from ceilings to those beautiful floors.Lots of choices and products. Had something in mind and Ryan put it together for us.Got estimate,ordered ,put down payment. When Ryan and his crew came,they came when they laid,covering the area and with everything that was needed. They installed stove,pipes and all fitings.They made the install so smooth,timely,and so beautiful. Ryan explained everything we need to know.He lit the fire and showed us how to do it correctly. This new fireplace and hearth are a thing of beauty.It works like it is designed to do and uses 1/3 the amount of wood our old stove used. I wouldn't EVER use these people. We had them clean our pellet stove, which was working perfect, and after the clean, it would not start. Tried starting it on our own for several days, and could not get it going. Called this place, and they told us it's on old stove, and that they would not work on it. He did not even offer to come out and look at it, just told us he doesn't work on non-working stoves. Seriously? Then what do you work on?....and our stove was working before this company broke it. I said I didn't want to leave a bad review, but if he left us hanging like this, I would, so here ya go. Not a good way to run business in a small town. My elderly mother's wood stove plugged up and spewed smoke throughout the house on New Year's Eve. The stove is her only source of heat. My mom called Loving's Fireplace Service and their outgoing message stated that they were on vacation until January 6th. She left a message and we both thought she was out of luck. Imagine our surprise when Ryan called and said he would be right out to fix the stove. My dad passed away on December 8th and in light of my mother's loss, Ryan refused to accept any payment for the excellent service he provided. He was very kind and patient in explaining the proper way to care for the stove so that it would not get plugged again. He never said before he came out that he could only do it if it was up to "code" took advantage of my wife knowing he could have called and asked if he could do something that would cost money that wasn't previously discussed. I do not recommend loving fireplace. After scheduling a time for them to clean my chimney, they were a no-show. Called them and asked, where are you? They said, it's your fault, you should of called to confirm. Then Loving fireplace called back apologizing and said they would like to clean our chimney. They were four hours late, and with 1 foot in the door turn to his bud outside and said we're not doing this job. He wasn't even inside my house yet. He came in with angry face, rough tone, saying, I'm not doing this job because you have violations. Nobody can even work on your toilet. I felt afraid, before I could say get out, he stormed out the door saying he's going to write a report, and with forcefulness in his voice said, you will sign it. I told him, I'm not signing anything. And he said, you will sign it, I'm not leaving till you sign this. I went inside and locked the door and pulled my blind down. He left a bill for an inspection in the crack of my door. He did no inspection, he did no work. He was a jerk, that make me afraid in my own house. This man is a Nightmare. read more
