I found Raudy's Painting on a Google search. He came right out and bid a good price. We agreed to…read morestart the work on a Monday a couple weeks later. We drove to Ukiah to meet him at the property in the morning only to discover that he had not started work because I was not there? I worked on the property on and off for the following 8 hours and his crew was there for part of that time, completed some masking, then left in the early afternoon. He had sent a text that he was departing earlier than that but I could leave deposit with his workers, which became impossible when I returned to find that they were gone. So I sent message asking who we should make the check out to and where we should send it. He told me to make the check out to Raudy's Painting, but not where to send it. So when we finally finished working on the place and were driving out of town at about 6:30 I called him and he said I need to make a deposit, I replied that's why I had asked who we needed to make the check out to and where to send it, but he says he cannot receive mail because everyone will steal his mail so we need to send it by cash app or Zelle or something. The seller of this property is 82 years old and cannot even reply to text messages let alone figure out how to download cash app and Link it to a bank account. So I asked where to send the deposit and he replied that he can't work anymore without a deposit so I asked where to send a deposit and he answered that he can't work anymore without a deposit and then hung up on me. Working with unlicensed contractors is always sketch, but there are decent human beings in this world that know how to work hard and do a good job, but sometimes all the flags go up and you worry that you've really got one of the genuinely bad ones. However I cannot tell you if Raudy's Painting is any good or not because he cannot work without a deposit, and cannot tell you where to send it.

Paco's Painting just painted the exterior of the quadraplex apartment building I live in. The…read morepaint job was pretty good. They took longer than they had estimated, but that wasn't so bad. The workers were friendly and not too intrusive. What they don't do well is clean up after themselves. The painters hacked at a tall, old evergreen and left several large dead or partially torn off branches. They also left paint flakes and pieces of masking tape around the perimeter of the building, plastic lunch garbage, dead shrubbery, and wires they had removed. When it was pointed out to them, their response was minimal. If you hire them, be ready to pick up after them.

Charlie Mc Nabb came to my house to see the simple paint job in one room and a couple "handyman"…read morethings. We talked about painting my bedroom, and he did not have much to say at all. We discussed my small bathroom. I asked him what to do about storage in my tiny bath, he told me to "get an over-the-toilet cabinet". I tried to explain that they don't have space for a full size hair dryer, a can of lysol, etc. (I've had those cabinets before) I said, "You are a contractor, right?" He said, "Yes." Charlie, at that point said, "Look, I don't want to do this job." Then he left without another word. I was stunned. I cannot imagine a more unprofessional person than Charlie Mc Nabb. I would think that a contractor would have a few more creative ideas other than "putting a wall-shelf over the toilet". But, the way Charlie just said, "I'm not doing this, goodbye", was very very strange, and in my opinion, very unprofessional. I don't think he should be listed as a contractor. when Charlie himself told me, "I'm just a painter". (Yet he told me he was a contractor...) I wonder if I had told Charlie that my budget for painting my room and fixing some things in the bath, like a water filter to soften the water just on they shower heads (Charlie said he knew NOTHING about water filters on shower heads), was $11,000. Would Charlie have been a little more professional perhaps? I don't know. I dare say that he would remain ignorant of simple contracting logistics though. I would not recommend this person.
