I've been bringing critters here for 10 years. My wife has been bringing them here for longer than that. Dr Castillo is compassionate and caring. He had taken care of our dog Libby since she was a pup. He was there when we had to say goodbye to her when she was 15. He was having a hard time with it, too. All the doctors are good to work with, They're compassionate and seem competent. We also bring our cats there and everyone is great. Dr Castillo treated Libby after she suffered a gunshot wound. He saved her life and stabilized her so we could get her to the Tufts animal hospital. He was upset and extremely angry about the circumstances of her injury. He's usually a quiet guy, but he was pissed off. read more

We have been taking our dog and cat to this clinic since we moved to the area 3+ years ago. It started off great, but has gone steadily downhill since. In the last 2 years, they have had a lot of staffing issues, details go overlooked, and questions not given the time they deserve. They are the most expensive clinic in the area and still find a way to nickle and dime pet owners. The staff do not really seem to care about client concerns, you can hear it in someones voice when that person cares. All they want to do is make excuses. I will be moving on, I would encourage others to do the same. read more

I brought our pets to Franklin Vet during Covid recommended to me by Tufts. We've had our cat & 3 dogs there (two have passed). Safe during Covid. Friendly staff & docs. We had our cat there yesterday for teeth cleaning under anesthesia. Great pre op instructions & post op/pick up same day. Nicole called me this afternoon to check in on Frances. Highly recommend. Facilities aren't fancy but they work fine! Staff is wonderful, from front desk to techs and all vets there. Highly recommend. Not inexpensive but they work with you. We've been taking our dogs here for 20+ years. They've been consistently terrific to them all- caring, compassionate, understanding of our concerns and the differing dogs' anxieties. I have no problem with them taking the dogs in from our cars- I think its a smart thing to do and I appreciate not being exposed to additional people during this flu/covid season. read more

We became a new client after moving to the area and out first visit to this clinic was a "sick visit", subsequently our rescue dog Oakley underwent surgery and follow up care. They were prompt in response to requests and MD Castillo went out of his way to fit Oakley in for surgery despite his full surgical schedule. I cannot say enough about the level of professionalism of all members of the team. From the veterinarians, to the administrative personnel to the veterinarian technicians the experience was stupendous! They took into account Oakley's personality with every interaction and even made it possible for him to be examined outside with me present to decrease his anxiety which meant the world to both of us-truly holistic care. So I wanna preface by saying how wonderful Dr. Thebert has always been to my family and our pets. That said I had a horrible interaction that cannot be justified. I had taken my 2 dogs to Dr. Thebert for years and eventually had my dad follow with his cat. My father, 87 went into the hospital to have major spine surgery and while in the hospital I took care of his elderly cat. We happened to find a tumor on her lower abdomen as well as an ingrown nail in the pad of her front paw. I told my dad I would call and make an appointment while he was in hospital to have everything looked at ASAP. My dad has been taking his cat there for at least 15 years. Shantel took the phone call and is SOLELY the reason for this review. I told her the situation and she had no appointments but when on to say she didn't know when/ if she'd have an appointment, basically because they keep filling the er appointments. I explained my dad is 87, and hospitalized and that I used to bring my pets there and her response was - "oh I know." And then she went on to say even if I did have an appt, she doesn't have permission to talk to me about my father's cat. Apparently Animal HIPPA. No empathy at all. Just goes to show you, doesn't matter how much you think of vet when someone like this mishandled entire business from the front. read more

It's almost 2023 and they still don't allow owners to enter the facility for an appointment for their pets. How do we know they are even checking our pets and administering their shots?? It's not 2020, let's get it together. The women behind the desk are also rude. I was there for an annual appointment for my dog last week and they charged me for a fecal examination when I didn't give them a fecal sample. I called after I left to point it out, but didn't receive a friendly apologetic response. The Doctors and technicians and the ladies on the front counter, they are the most compassionate group of people you could ever ask for. A year ago they saved my dogs life she was near death. After multiple tests she was found to have Addisons disease and congestive heart failure and a few other maladies. With their help I was able to keep her alive with medication, mostly pain free for almost a year until she died this past Thursday, Sept 14th 2018. They were so caring when I ran into the office with my dying dog in my arms, I was crying knowing this was it. I commend them for their professionalism but mostly their care for me in the most horrible of times. THANK YOU FRANKLIN VET CLINIC. read more

He was also arrogant and hostile when I tried to correct him. If he doesn't understand the basics about dog breeds, how can he possibly deliver the best care. Go somewhere else. read more

We chose Franklin Veterinary Clinic because of its' proximity to our house, and we're glad we did. Each time we've had to bring our cat, they've brought us right in to an exam room so she can get out of her cage and walk around. Usually a vet tech/assistant comes right in to check on you. Dr. Castillo himself is gentle and seems to really care about your pet. The prices are competitive, although I'm sure you could fine cheaper in the area. This place is worth it, as it's a brand new facility and right near the center of town. read more

This practice is new and clean, and the desk staff are very nice; but I am not impressed with a recent experience I had at this facility. I brought my dog in for an issue and saw the female vet. She told me that the issue was nothing to really be concerned about, that we could keep an eye on it, but diagnosed it as benign. When I tried to bring up my dog's weight gain and sudden behavioral issues, she dismissed them. She in fact told me that I should make more of an effort to give my dog attention and walk him. If she had spent any time with me or listened to me, she would have had an idea the amount of attention my dog gets. Four weeks later, my dog is having surgery for a different issue, and Dr. Castillo calls me about the issue I had been in for previously. He had no knowledge of what the other vet had said, and told me a completely different diagnosis, which was much more serious. This practice is fine for routine exams, vaccinations etc. I would not trust them at this point to diagnose or treat a serious problem. read more

Dr. Castillo and his staff are kind, compassionate people who understand pets and pet owners. The facility is clean and the atmosphere is friendly. Their fee schedule is in line with most clinics in the area, but more importantly, they fully explain all procedures and alternative measures. My husband and I are more than thrilled will all the services Franklin Vet Clinic have provided our new puppy, Bailey. A few weeks ago, our pup broke her elbow and we immediately turned to Dr. Castillo and his team for answers and treatment. The staff are all very kind and respectful and the facility is very clean and welcoming. As new puppy owners, I admit, we called a million times to check on her, ask questions and get routine costs- they never got frustrated, they understand in today's world everyone can't afford thousands in vet bills and did their best to keep us in the loop. We were never overcharged for anything- whatever charges were accrued were very reasonable- if someone on here is complaining about having to pay for a $20 test or shot, they clearly cant support an animal. Nonetheless, four weeks later, my dog is running around - good as new and cheerful as a clam - and I think we definitely owe our thanks to Franklin Vet. My husband and I are new to the area and were looking for a vet and went to this one because it's in close proximity to where we live. We took the cats in and they really warmed up Dr. Castillo and his assistant. We were early but were seen right away. (At our old vet's office, we would be waiting for at least 20 minutes before our cats were seen.) Dr. Castillo was very kind and gentle with our cats. After examining them and giving them their shots and tags, he told us they both need cleanings and one of them needs to have a tooth pulled, and they were giving 20% off dental procedures in October, so we made an appointment. We found their prices to be very reasonable and the staff were quite pleasant. read more

Franklin Veterinary clinic has been my go to vets office for the last 4 years. They are always so friendly and helpful whether over the phone or in the office. Their Veterinarians are always willing to give you all the options for your pet, but NEVER try to upsell and over charge you. I have been to many other vets, with terrible results. I take all three of my animals here and have never been disappointed. Their office fee has gone up over the last 6months/year but otherwise their prices are much less than other offices Ive tried. They never even took her temperature. PLEASE refer to any options anywhere. Not necessarily online. This was wrong from the beginning. Yes they have resources, but please get any Second opinion if you even have ANY question. Listen to your pet. That's what matters. The whole experience was questionable. They have proven to be judgmental on the human not the beloved animal and have proven to give less than accurate if not wrong information. Be selective and research. And always listen to your animal companion's reaction and to your gut and heart. There's almost never a reason to get a second opinion. I do not suggest going here. read more

I have been taking my animals to Franklin Veterinary Clinic since I moved to Franklin 5 years ago. They have been nothing but friendly, kind and professional. My dog Chowmein became very ill in July 2013. The bottom of her heart was no longer beating. They immediately told me to run her to Tufts and that accurate diagnosis on Dr. Gray part helped my dog live for another 8 months when she was 12 years old, when I was finally ready to let her go. The day I had to put her down, everyone on the staff hugged me and cried with me. That's family! When I got my new chow puppy, they were so happy for me and they love Ringo. They greet both of us with open arms. I would never change vets. I would highly recommend them to anyone who really loves their pets as members of their family. read more

Dr. Castillo is the only Veterinarian that I trusted with my 18 year old dog Josie when I knew that she wasn't doing well at all and during this pandemic I had to make sure that I was able to get to hold her during her time and that was not an issue at all!!! The staff is very friendly, supportive, and comforting. I have known Dr. Castillo for over 20 years and he was very comforting and sincerely sorry for my loss and I know how much he loves helping animals and their owners! I worked the front desk when the clinic was a tiny little building and I saw first hand how each animal and owner had their own specialized interactions with him. I can't thank Dr. Castillo enough for being so kind to me and Josie during that time!! I also have to thank Sheri for saying hello as I used to work with her at the clinic and she was saying that she was so sorry to hear about Josie as well! Franklin Veterinary is the most expensive place in the area. I had tests done, and was shocked at the prices. I called 3 other vets, and found that Franklin Veterinary charged 100-300% higher prices. Their pharmacy costs are at least 3-4 times higher than on line pharmacies. Bottom line: Decent care for sky high prices. Do yourself a favor and go elasewhere. read more

I had the misfortune of having to put my 19 yr old kitty down today. We had a terrible experience at Bellingham animal hospital about a month ago.with Timmy's brother, we chose to go to FVC, and it was a sad but the best decision. All the ppl there were kind and compassionate. They had a little soft blanket on the table. after taking basic info, the dr examined him and unfortunately, she told us what we knew..we were not rushed..we were encouraged to take whatever time we wanted..they sedated Timmy, which they did not do in bell, they let him get really sleepy and when we were ready, the dr came in. I have only praise for this facility. it is clean..the ppl r kind and caring ..I highly recommend this facility. read more

Tlheir rates are higher than others and my experience was scary. They are not experienced with handling anything more than giving rabies shots. I don't 'shoot from the hip' and certainly don't allow the inexperienced to perform procedures they are unprepared for on my PETS. This all I will say. I'm shocked to read the other good reviews because the care my dog received was poor. I didn't get to see Dr. Castillo. The doctor I saw gave me a glowing review of a procedure that she claimed could prolong my sick dog's life, which really gave me a lot of (false) hope. However, after many hundreds of dollars spent on tests, I spoke to another vet there who informed me that my dog was too old for the procedure and there was no hope. I have since spoken to a vet not affiliated with this clinic who told me that the procedure in question is only effective in certain circumstances. It kills me that I was never given a realistic assessment of my dog's chances. That was just cruel to build up false hope. Not to mention the hundreds upon hundreds of dollars that I needless spent, given that it was not viable for a dog of mine's age and health. Furthermore, on several occasions I called the vets for info about said sick dog and they never returned my calls. I also had problems with the vet techs. They never gave me any assistance or instructions on how to administer the medicine, they just handed me the bag of meds. I found out later that one of the meds needed to be refrigerated - not only was it NOT marked on the medicine but no one at the office told me that, either. They also gave me a medicine that came with a dropper - guess what? The measurements on the dropper didn't match those required on the bottle. I called for clarification - the receptionist tried to help but couldn't and the vet tech who eventually came on the line sounded extremely pissed off to have to come on the phone to explain the different measurements to me. Also, I was supposed to give my dog a half a pill a day for a certain number of days but the pills were not scored, nor did the clinic break them. So I ended up giving my dog an uneven amount of medicine in my clumsy attempts to administer the dose properly. One yet another occasion, I was given a medicine that was supposed to be in liquid form but I received pill form instead, and the dose once again did not match. This is just unacceptable, completely unacceptable. The clinic is very costly, I would expect professional care to be given at the time of treatment as well as when the meds are given out - but it's not what I received. I would never, ever use this clinic again. The overall feel was that they were only interested in my checkbook, not my poor, sick dog. I've since found a wonderful, caring vet in Millis. I'm only sorry that I didn't find him sooner so I could have brought my sick dog there instead. read more

Things at this clinic have gone downhill. I have brought my pets here for 18 years but am now done. After spending lots of money on expensive tests that revealed nothing, my cat had an ultrasound to the tune of $300. He was put on medication and 3 days later had to be euthanized. I was never told that he was nearing death. After suffering his loss, I got a call reminding me of his upcoming appt. They euthanized him! Come on people. You can do better than that! read more

This place issued the wrong medication to my cat and caused blindness, and neurological damage along with seizures. They are refusing to pay for the Vet hospital bill of over $800.00. We have been going there for over 8 years, they are very expensive and now that they have almost killed my cat. I wouldn't recommend this place to any that cares for their pets!!!!!! read more

I really appreciate the care my puppy, Zara receives at this practice. Yesterday was no exception. I called out of concern as my dog was throwing up. Perhaps she had swallowed something or worse. I got a same day appt. tough during this holiday period. The Vet took his time examining her and appreciated my concern. I had lost a previous pet to stomach cancer when we were at a different practice. He took her temp twice to ally my fears. We looked at options and elected to do watchful waiting. I have confidence in the professional care we receive from the front desk, Tec's and Doc's and would recommend Franklin Veterinary Clinic to any one looking for quality compassionate care. read more

The Doctors are wonderful and my pets love them. I have had a few different dogs over the years and every one of them loved going to the "puppy Doctor". They actually get excited to go. My pets have received great care from the Drs. And techs. They are knowledgeable and up to date with new medicines and techniques.
