You can also request them online to be delivered to your own library, but I like to stop in and browse sometimes for the fun of it. Sometimes you don't really know what you want until you see it. The selection here is large and pretty good as well. Things I especially like: the separately designated children's section for early readers, the self-check-out, lots of activities for the kids (see their calendar), the well-organized DVD selections for both children and adults, the abundance of easy chairs, benches etc. But best of all, they are located between both the Amish Market and Grasso Girls Farm Market. The staff did recently did a "Stuffie Sleepover," where kids brought their stuffed animals and dropped them off to sleep overnight, where they had fun and did activities. When you picked the stuffies up the following day, there were pictures and surprises; (like a xerox copy of the stuffies tushies....a joke that my 6 year absolutely didn't understand, but the Misses and I laughed at.) I thought it was a very cute idea, and kids got to hear some bedtime stories with their stuffies. I think they need better signage, as we KNEW where it was, and still drove past it twice.

Head down the back stairs into a cozy subterranean space that is mostly kid-oriented, although there's definitely some adult fiction as well. Overstuffed armchairs, lots of little kid and YA books, a Thomas train area (!), plus some homework tables make it a very inviting space. I can see myself chilling out comfortably while the kids play and browse the stacks.

You can get access to a bigger selection of ebooks if you sign up your library card with the libby app. For those that are here for the summer only and wondering how to get a card, you can bring in a copy of your tax record or I believe a utility bill to apply for a card. This really is a nice library. On the second floor there is a deck overlooking the wetlands and bay which would be a great spot to read and enjoy a cup of coffee. The sea isle city historical museum is also located within the library. Now, the main thing that gets this library 5 stars is the kid's programming. We came here all summer and the amount of programs they have for kids is awesome. The library in my hometown still refuses to do any in person indoor kids programming because of Covid and never brought back out the kid toys. My daughter is only 3 so she has never been able to enjoy our local library (Haverford Township) for basically her entire life. So, the SIC library has been a breath of fresh air this summer. The children's librarian who does story time is great along with all the other the library workers. Thank you to those who run this library for providing great educational activities! And for other parents who may be concerned, the programs for young kids here seems to be developmentally appropriate and not "woke"!

One of the security guards told us to head straight up to the 3rd floor -- he compared it to a small museum full of rare things. Intrigued, we took his advice. So glad we did! We happened upon the free guided tour of the Rare Book Department, and spent the next hour happily being shown treasures such as books with special bindings, books with gold leaf, the taxidermied raven named Grip which inspired Edgar Allan Poe's famous work, and yes, Charles Dickens' desk, complete with his scratched-on initials. Later, we came across a giant shoe in one of the reading rooms. This place is fantastically magical. Love the Free Library of Philadelphia.

First things first: the Millville Public Library is a small hometown library. As such, it will…read morenever have the resources of larger libraries. It is, however, part of CLUES, which is the countywide library system. That means the resources available here are those available throughout the county. The problem with the library is that despite its small resources and limited space, the library does not function well. Librarians are not concerned with missing books. Reserving books means nothing. Oh, they may pull the book from the shelf, but they do not e-mail nor do they they telephone to inform one the book is now available. And it takes six months for them to receive a new book and get it available to the public. Those are all things that could easily be improved to make the library an enjoyable experience. Until those things are corrected, the library will continue to receive poor remarks from me.
